I´m here after the Britney, Christina, Jessica S. and Mandy M. video and I think this 7 girls are very talented and I really enjoyed the walk down memory lane. But I noticed something: how the first 3 where demanded to dress sexier over time by their record labels. I mean, I don´t care how they dress if it´s their decision, but it´s no secret what they went through and it´s horrible they were forced to sing or dress a certain way they didn´t want. It´s refreshing to see Brandy, Monica and Aaliyah being themselves so they could shine. Because even if Mandy wasn´t forced to wear tiny outfits, they wanted to turn her into another Brit.
Each of theses are amazing in their own way and extremely unique! Monica’s voice can be a bit pitchy at times but she has wider range and so much clarity in her voice. Brandy has below poor pronunciation/diction but has a great singing techniques. Aaliyah lacks range and singing technique but has an angelic tone. Now let’s be clear there’s no perfect vocalist, every vocalist has a flaw or 2. However between the 3, I’d choose Monica simply because her voice embodies power, versatility (meaning she has the ability to sing in a lower and higher register). She has proper diction. Not to mention Monica has that raw emotion in her voice, she’s soulful and makes better music in my opinion. All 3 queens are trailblazers and shaped the culture.
