- Ever wonder what it would be like to make an epic road trip in a 1967 Camaro with a blown big block engine? Wonder no more...just watch this video with Hot Rod Magazines David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan as they drive the Crusher Camaro from Los Angeles to the Pavilions Car Cruise in Scottsdale Arizona and back. This video includes the "almost-live" mobile updates that were posted on TH-cam and Facebook during the trip, giving fans a ride along feel for much of the adventure. We have more planned so keep checking HOTROD.COM and hotrodmag for more info on how to virtually come with us on our next event.
2020 corona lockdown.. re-watching all this pre-roadkill /motortrend gold right here!! Whos with me? 👍
Of course
That's right
Lol
I am
Motortrend can’t get rid of what they can’t control
Anyone else come back here after watching Freiburger's video about the history of the Crusher Camaro?
Freibuger's "ARRRRRRRRRRGH!" ought to be the new, old "BAM!" Laughed my head off on this segment.
Would be great to see the long cuts of Hot Rod Unlimited and these HRM shows with Dave and Mike cut into some sort of "Before Roadkill" episode series so they're easy to find.
I feel like Freiburger Has so much life in him as well as brûlée, not as bogged down by the corporate BS of the 2010s
*"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH"*
-David Freiburger
It's amazing to see where Roadkill and the rest of the Hot Rod video franchise came from. Thanks to David and Finnegan for give car nuts steady video content and something worth watching. Thanks guys!
I’m so happy we get Freiburger on TH-cam all the time now.
Dood is a wealth of knowledge and experience and he needs to be protected at all costs.
Ah good old times, bring BACK ROADKILL to TH-cam!!!!
just pay the 12 dollars a year and stop bitching.
Back to watch proto-Roadkill after the cancellation. What a run, guys!
This is like where roadkill first began.
ive been stuck home for 2 months now fighting malignant melanoma and shows like this have been keeping me happy and sane glad that hot rod magazine puts out good stuff like this thank you guys very much i appreciate it
I love this show!!!! Finnegan and Freiburger have great chemistry together, which makes the show really fun to watch. They are always positive even in the face of adversity. Nothing keeps these guys down for their love of cars and ROAD trips! They would be so fun to hang out with. I learn so much watching ROADKILL. Hope to see you guys on the road sometime. Always look forward to the next show.
67 Camaro. Best looking car ever.
I've watched this episode countless times. Best one for sure.
Drewko naaa, they don’t really show the repairs in detail like they do now.
The origin of roadkill
The 66 Buick too
Nick Reale
The Buick Special episode is actually the origin...
Yes from Germany. 2019
And it takes a couple roadkill's to make Roadkill let that sink in!!!!...
Freiburger's scream always makes me laugh 🤣🤣🤣
Because I feel the same way when i break a part/bolt or get the wrong part
Thanks for making the trip/video. It's always fun watching someone else troubleshoot and problem solve and all the while maintaining their sense of humor. And nine mpg is pretty respectable for that combo!
This is the episode that got me watching Freiburger and Finnegan. Watching them fail to make it out of the parking lot was gold😅
hell yeah re watch so many years later. thanks 4 the reminder Freiburger
I've always wondered what that building was! We pass by it every time heading to California! Thanks, Finnegan & Freiburger! :D
5:00 If they had only known that in 9 years nobody would know the ways of the Corona...
My thoughts of exactly lol
Could not believe my eyes - there's a White Bricklin at 13:41 ! Amazing to see it running at all ! Very funny and amazing...Thanks guys ! Every trip is purest fun...
Roadkill throw back. This is great, this right here and even the notion of doing it is what made HR magazine great...btw...I had my first subscription age 12...keep up the great work guys.
Really? Troll.
It was easy...grant you that. You're still a troll. :)
Watching the old memories, love y'all
I once made it from central coastal Cali (Kings City) to Dothan Alabama in three days in a 1970 GTO (455, 4speed, 3:55 gears), no blower though dang it! This video was fun and brought back some good memories. Thanks! 👍
AngryRed Banjo that’s sweet!
So this is how RoadKill started!
yeah could be
The Freiburger scream never gets old. Lol
I can't believe how many times I laughed out loud watching this video! You guys rock
I miss these guys together. Perfect match.
This.....THIS....is why I LOVE watching this stuff. Real hotrodders have days where they just run into problem after problem, and then get so @$@! tired that they start making stupid mistakes. It is sooooo refreshing to watch a couple of guys encounter and overcome real issues, and yes....make stupid mistakes.
As long as y'all keep creating stuff like this, I'll be a fan.
I have the issue of Hot Rod magazine where they swapped in an LS and took out that engine -
and made lots of transmission and rear end changes. So many toys to play with.
These vids are awesome!! Love where teh camaro would start and Frie opens teh door and says AAAARRRRRGH.
you guys are great love the crusher reminds me of when me and my brother used to drive our race cars to far places and yes we broke down many a time...lol but that's what makes memories put a smile on ur face when you think about those trips.....I wish I could do it all again truly a dream come true ....thank you guys for putting a smile on my face....
it's good to see David Freiburger is into cool cars - like hot rod mag has always been.yeah I've got a gasser build, 440 -520 build, 871 on one of my builds ,done a L79 in a Datsun in the early 80's, mild cam, rockcrusher cause it was a illegal swap in Australia and I didn't want to get the attention of the police, run 111 mph in the 1/4 on 205 tyres, off idle on the line . the yellow coupe is so much what i'm into except i'd be painting it I've got enough confidence now after 37 years to do everything to build hot rods ,not what the US calls hot rods but 30's-40's top to bottom
I love road trips! Thanks for sharing. It was like a mini, two-man Power Tour.
this is the pavillions carshow! happens every friday and saturday! Im from scottsdale Arizona nice to see guys coming from california man! cheers
GOOD TO SEE THE CRUSHER BACK ON THE ROAD.
Seeing David pittsenburg back in the day was a trip

I LOVE IT!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!! You made my night!!!!
I would love to do a road trip with you guys. Break downs or not looks like a ton of fun.
just read the may 2011 issue of hot rod with the crusher camaro. badass car great job
Thanks to the shout out for Wickenburg, Az. My dad lives near there.
Thanks?
It sounded to me like you guys got a cavitation problem in the fuel system someplace. As for the rest,it took me 10 years to build my Probe tuner well enought to go to Midwest Mazdafest in '10. With a Ford no less,& won best in class 1st time out. That's what it means to DIY. It feels good to beet the guys buyin new cars & throwin on a couple pieces with a now 17 year old car you built yourself. Gotta love this stuff!
fuckin' love Freiburger and Finnegan. there episodes are so awesome. this is the best series ive ever watched.
The hood-cam shots sound like Mad Max! Awesome!
Thank you! Considering the freaking cold temperature here in Sweden and that white stuff on the ground I really needed a reminder of what's coming this summer. Roadtrips in a bad ass Pontiac.
Did anybody else notice that white Bricklin around 13:45? My grandpa used to have a Bricklin, one of the early ones with the AMC 360. Dad loved the thing. Can't say I'm totally sold on the styling, but it's something different that you definitely don't see everyday.
I live in mesa az and we have driven by that abandon building so many times, I have always wanted to go look at it!
I bet the Camaro was all like "Fuck you gas station" when they were refueling.... you know... because it was a Chevron gas station....
No import of any kind will ever be this badass. Just give it up. Nothing beats AMERICAN engineering.
Crusher camaro I remember this camaro in an old issue years ago still got this thing
I enjoyed the video a lot, great job, hard to beat a big block chevy!
Ed 1970 Corvette Stingray 540 BBC
I love laying under cars, food, and beer. I wish i had this life. I miss my 79 Ford F350 Ranger =(
fukn great can you work on mine il feed you food and beer
Anytime
A ranger and an f350 are two different trucks.
jio iniguez In recent years yes. But in the 70's/80's, there was indeed a Ranger F350.
jio iniguez yea man look it up
honestly love watching these two guys lol no homo but there are super entertaining i hope yall keep it up and have time to do more!
This is fantastic! Seriously! Thanks for sharing!
sooo nice to see a 67 camaro without the spoiler! they didnt have the spoiler for 67, only for 68 and up and some people seem to forget that
67 Camaro. My first love. Awsome car, Awsome show!! AMERICAN CARS ARE THE BEST ON LOOKS AND YOU CANT BEAT THE SOUND OF AN AMERICAN V8. BUT AMERICAN.
It was cool to see Pavilions car show since it no longer happens on Saturdays. I drove past a few weeks ago and the lot was empty.
you can open a bottle of beer using your wedding ring. the gift that keeps on giving.
+Blehtubezz Aus you speak truth!
+Blehtubezz Aus one that doesn't want extra clutter in his pockets :)
you guys are awesome. love watching..... CRUSHER
Hot Rod magazine would be my dream job.

Was looking for the Roadkill show and found this. Awesome!
just updated my subcribtion to hotrod because of you dave,,love the stories, roadtrips, etc.
Damn, when I read the title I thought you blew the motor. LOL
Loved the International Scout at 12.45.
Need... more... ROADKILL
I realize this video is years old, but I must comment that Steve Brule is one cool guy. Love ya Steve.
This road trip was proper roadkill.
the ad in the beginning was great, nice video too.
I'm so glad you guys stopped at that old horse trotting park. I have passed that a hundred times and always wondered what it was. Maybe on your next road trip that direction, you can stop at the Palo Verde nuclear power station. At least that one is obvious.
they raced dogs there for a couple years and it shut down. the whole thing front and sides were glass and they blew it all out making a movie in the 70s or 80s. I've been there recently and its covered in bird poop and its a hangout for bums and druggies.
Road trip in a blown big block chevrolet powered camaro, yeeeaaahhh buddy.👍👍✌✌👊👊
This is the second youtube published film by the Roadkill duo, The first was Hot Rod Crusher Redux published 12-23-10! This was long before Roadkill was a thing. The very first Roadkill Featured the Pontiac Catalina, ElPaso to LA the Hard Way, Published almost 2 years after the initial Crusher episode 2-17-12. The Barn Find Buick episodes are Pre-Roadkill and were published on5-27-11.
this must be one of the best jobs in the world. these guys are so lucky!
Thank you so much. I need to go on a road trip.
I was at the pavilions that night! and i saw the crusher! I didnt know u guys were actualy the ones that drove it there tho. dang it. come back! and next time give me warning so i can get signatures and pics with u guys =) P.S. bring f bomb too please. its my camaro's hero.
God I miss these old episodes
you guys are great, awesome show.
Im going to get myself a 1st gen camaro after tec school, cant wait.
My dad was on the design team for the Camaro worked at the GM proving grounds in the 60's -70's He had a sweet 67 RS green with a white strip 327 4bbl auto I was to young to drive it wish he would have kept it.
you guys run out of gas like every episode its funny as hell
You guys spent lot time to repair and fill the car, but I bet you had great time, keep going hot road... :)
that guy driving was such a plug
Two Lane Blacktop is FREE right here on TH-cam, go get it boys!!
To see brule' help them getting out of the parking lot is hilarious
Thank God gas isn't expensive! Three tanks in 24 hours...ouch!
That gear change sure made a difference on the highway. 2200 is great.
it's such an adventure doing a trip in a muscle car that these guys had to do a video out of it.. almost a documentary
Nice work dudes ...
lol , i was saying , i could bet that the people that didn't like the video are ecologist - Nice videos and good channel !
I love this trip, these guys are fu-king funny & nuts. LOL
I like how the roads in the middle of the AZ desert are better built, designed, and maintained than any piece of driving surface in southern California...
Holy cow i'm crying laughing at the host's "Charismatic" yell everytime the thing stalls hahahaha! Same pitch everytime, and when they drove off 30 yards and ran outta fuel... Hilarious... I'm still crying... okay okay... I need to watch the rest of it!
Great video, you guys do a great job on these videos.
I have a small block with a 4 banger, and I only get 1 more mile to the gallon than they do!
How sad is that? fun video guys..
I'm sure just like the other 149,xxx people that seen this. I'm jealous. You guys are lucky ones.
that would be an amazing sight going down the road
