Wow! The stream crossing @1:23 was a RAGING RIVER in May ‘23. Like 30 feet across, waist deep, high flow, dangerous.
Someone rolled their UTV- everybody ok, but dangerous rescue, we found their waterproof bag with information so we took it to them and they told us about it.
We had to stop a few people from trying while we were checking it out.
Stay safe out there! I just bought a ‘19 TRD OR so I’m glad to have found your video!

That river can change flow down there a lot! Last May was crazy water all over the western slope of colorado!

On 2/29/24 we bought a slightly used, 6K mile 23 Tacoma TRD Off Road, Premium and Technology pkgs, 6’ bed pickup.
We had a 13 year old Ranger XLT super cab 4WD that was mainly used for work around our property.
My car was a Forester Touring, so my wife and I decided to sell both our pickup and my car and buy a late model TRD Off Road as my vehicle, while she keep her Outback.
There’s still a Lot of snow in the mountains so we’re waiting for it to melt before we take our stock TRD OFF ROADING.
We’re looking forward to having some fun with my Tacoma later this spring and summer.

You'll like the long bed. It's great for house projects, camping, and off-roading.

Looks great! Tacoma doing what it is supposed to do. I wish Toyota put tires that match the capability of the truck.

It did! This is one of our favorite trails. It's really pretty right now. The leaves just started to turn in the canyon so everything is now golden.

May I ask why you decided to get rid of your 6’ bed and switch to the 5’ bed?
    No judgement here, just curious.
We need the 6’ bed for hauling more wood, gravel, topsoil etc as we built into the side of our mountain and are building retaining walls and raised garden beds and making the ground flat instead of the slope of our mountain.

We switched from the long bed to the short bed since it was easier to off road. Since we used the truck for a lot of off roading, it's easier to navigate down narrow mountain trails - especially if you have tight switchbacks (like Black Bear Pass) or if you need to turn around (see our wrong trail in Sand Hollow). That extra length can sometimes make things a little more difficult, but still doable.
The other issue was the payload was the same for the short bed and the long bed. We ended up using the trailer for things more often than expected so we didn't overload the truck. With only 940ish lbs of payload, we used that pretty quickly. Overall we really liked the long bed and it was a great truck.

Do you not recommend the long bed if offroad is the plan

The long bed did pretty well off road, but it was hard on tight turns, and when we had to turn around.
