those views are unreal. Something you'd only see in a national Park.
Dome plateau is pretty amazing. Fun trail and amazing views. What more could you want?!
@@legendarytrails a 2011 FJ Cruiser TTSE to go along with it lol
5:40 I heard "bucket list" as "needs to be on your f***in list" lol I had to check twice
😂
You definitely do not need to yield to the tour companies because of their schedule. This is a national Forest trail, and you have every right to be on it. Commercial and non-commercial vehicles should demonstrate common courtesy. Vehicles going downhill should always yield to vehicles going uphill.
We heard about some horror stories with the pink jeeps being pushy. We didn't have that, but we thought we'd mention it just in case.
Tacoma for sure ❤
I have a 2013 Standard transmission. Clutch 2 years ago $3300 Pass side window $150 for motor and I am doing the labor. 103k miles. No other issues with it.
Wow! $3300 for a clutch? That seems a little more than I would expect. At least it's replaced now and you'll have many many more miles before you need to work on it again.
@ oh believe me it hurt. I was shocked I could have gotten a new engine!
Minnesotan here. 2015 Outback Base new purchase with 140+ miles no rust-just started to burn 1/4 quart of oil 0W20 every 1k miles. Everything in your video is right on. We've taken it everywhere, multiple states, beaches, camping, light off roading, hiking, x-country skiiing, snowshoeing and more. Looked at test drove newer subies, but infotainment screen is a no go. Tried voice commands, other ... Nope. May consider a 2022-23 Wilderness Forester (tactile buttons ... as we are older yet full of fun n vigor. Again fantastic review of 2015 OB. We love ours ...)
Glad you’re still enjoying your Outback, even if it’s starting to use a little more oil. We drove a newer Subaru and the screen is a little bit of a put off. We like the physical buttons better, but the screen does grow on you after a little. The Foresters are super nice too, just wish they offered the turbo in them. That new turbo is awesome!
You will consume oil. Not a big deal if you do not have emissions check in your area. 11yo CrossTrek with 205,000kms. Burns about 2L of oil every 10,000km. Everything else is fine. Welcome to owning a Boxer engine.
It's true, the older ones do use a little oil, but it's nothing too major.
Apple carplay and Android auto came on the 2017 models too. Ours had it 😊
Lucky! That's the one thing I really miss from our VW. Everything else is way better though so I really can't complain.
Ours is in need of valve covers and spark plug tube gaskets. Do not let people bother you concerning oil consumption. It is very minimal. The main thing on that year is keeping up with oil changes. The exhaust manifold cracked on ours, so watch that. Ours is also the 2015 model. This is our 4th Subaru in 35 years, so yeah. Great cars.
Thanks for sharing your experience with the valve covers, spark plug tube gaskets, and the exhaust manifold - good to know! This is our 2nd Subaru and they are so much better than everything else out there in the market.
I have exactly the same one with different color. Already got 250k km. Running strong. We bought it new. First problem happened 2.5 years later with the cheap low cranking voltage battery. Then 2 wheel bearings replaced so far and we never went off roading. Then there's noisy heat shield and electric coil replacement. Still need winter tires for the AWD. Overall it is OK. Just hope the new one has 360 camera.
Seems pretty solid overall. 👌
Doesn’t Subaru run their daytime running lights, DRL, off the highbeams. They were like 30% of the high beam. That’s why halogen works better for my 2009 Subaru, you’ll get flickering with the LEDs because they’re either on or off. How does your 2015 use their daytime running lights, is that off the high beam? Thanks!
The 2015 runs the highbeams sadly. I wish it would be like the new styles instead. Our led replacement have been doing well. We kept the halogens just in case we had any issues, but so far they've been great.
@ thanks ! Merry Christmas !
Oil burners
I was told by a Subaru tech, that has to do with the spring tension in the oil control rings. It has been very minimal on ours( also a 2015) The spark plug tube seals on Ours are in need of replacing along with the valve covers gaskets. This is a typical Subaru issue. As long as you understand what and when a Subaru needs service, they are excellent cars. We are on our 4th one in 30 years.
That might be an issue for some, but ours has been perfect. No burning at all.
@legendarytrails Some do, some don't. What year is yours? Ours goes probably 3k miles, so I generally change the oil at that time. Synthetic only.
@@scottfirman Ours is a 2015. We go about 4500-5000 miles between oil changes. We check it every time we fill up, but we've never had to add any oil.
Subaru outback are such good and practical cars. I have a 2009, but starting to burn a little bit of oil. Subarus usually start to have problems with oil control rings as they age. 500,000 miles easy is a bit optimistic 😊
Ours hasn't had an oil problems, but they did fix a few things since 2009. From our experience, on the newer styles, that's normally the pvc value that causes the issue. We plan on replacing it around 130k when we do the cvt fluid just to be safe. We have known several people with over 300k on their 2015s and haven't had a problem yet. They are pretty good cars overall 😃
Nice thumbnail 😉
Thanks
Nice 💪. Does it burn any oil?
Not at all! Ours seems to be just fine. The pcv valve is normally what causes that. We plan on replacin it just in case when we do the transmission fluid at 130k.
@@legendarytrails How many miles can you go before the oil is down one quart?
In truth, we've only had probably About 1 quart for the 10k miles. We check it every time we get gas and haven't had to add anything between oil changes.
How tall are you?
Dane is 6'2" tall.
Love the area you are in I just picked up my 2024 ZR2 curious why you uploaded a low res video. Kind of a cool look, reminded me of watching TV when I was a kid.
It must be the default youtube picked for it - this can be adjusted on the lower left of your screen. We shoot in a minimum of 1080 and sometimes 4k. I've seen youtube do this sometimes on videos and I have to manually adjust it. Not sure why
He is right
The 22 has more flex than the 24 also has a greater rti ramp score
According to Car and Driver, the RTI score is the same: 461. I think the difference in the real world is the tire size, keeping to 24 more planted on the ground than the 22 ZR2. Both are pretty awesome, so you really can't go wrong.
Did you get it fully loaded under 50k?
We got everything but package 3. But for the price (around 47k out the door) worth not getting the extra package.
I have the 2018 ZR2 and have been thinking about upgrading. How do you like the TurboMax motor compared to the 3.6 V6? Keep the content coming!
I like the engine. It has better power and gets the same mpg. I average about 18 to 22 on highway and 15 to 17 in town. Oil filter changes are way easier. The torque off-road is easily as good as the v6. Baja mode is a beast. Passing uphill when loaded down with family and gear is better. Mpg have been improving now that I am almost at 4k miles. The sound is the hardest part to get used to. I really liked the V6. This one is more fun when you put your foot into it.
@@blakegarner3719 i like the v6 better.
Hitch receiver/ball that long wasn’t the best idea at Moab 😂
Nope, we forgot to take it out and forgot our hitch slider at home. Double ouch
Just trade in your 3rd gen for a 4th gen Tacoma; problem(s) solved!👍🏻
We purchased a zr2 instead.
I don't think it has more flex I think the difference is the tire size if you put a 35 on the 22 it would not be off the ground either. Keep up the content though, I like it
The 33s do help. According to Chevy, it has a little more travel, but they are both so good it's hard to have a favorite!
I agree. I think the tire size is making most of the difference here. Also, travel numbers are not always indicative of flex. Travel is straight up and down movement where flex will cause it to travel more or less depending on geometry and materials. For example: the 2024 has more travel but with the outboard shock placement the flex will be more limited than the 2022.
Great video and very helpful. Looking to get back out there with my subie wilderness. Did Shafer last year but want to try more, but don’t want to get in over my head. Thank you, this is quite informative, and well done!
You're welcome! There are a lot of trails your wilderness can do in Moab. The wilderness is pretty capable!
I see you bought a new zr2 again.
Yep. We wanted a Ranger Raptor, but the markups are crazy still.
Thank you for the awesome scenery and trail recommendations. I really like the format and delivery giving us a taste of what the trails are like, and with different vehicles, to see "stock" vehicles can make it. Not all stock vehicles are created equally with ground clearance, and breakover angles. We have a stock 2 door wrangler rubicon that we will hopefully drive out that way for next year's vacation.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! All of the vehicles we have had on our channel have been stock and that seems to be hard to find on youtube unless it's for an auto review. Its really amazing how far most stock vehicles can make it. Any of these trails your wrangler will make it on without any issues. We wheel trucks so the wheelbase is normally what makes a trail harder for us.
Nice work. Bad idea to drive anything other than a serious business offroad truck/buggy/SxS into that crater or up/down any of the really steep stuff. Even then you're rolling the dice.
Right! That crater is no joke. We saw some SXS looking at it, but they decided better of themselves as well.
You did a great job on spotting him i have the long bed crew cab mine is a little higher
Thanks! After spotting a large Ram 1500 for years the toyota's seem easy!
I enjoyed this video 👍. Seems like the mat was great
It is a great mat! I'm surprised how much we like it. We were initially skeptical since it was folded, but it's really nice and just as good as the OEM ones we had on our Tacomas in the past.
Awesome video
Thanks!
Nice trail. Did yall stay at full tire pressure?
We did.
This took my anxiety all the way up ⬆️ 😮 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6
I have appreciated your Rado ZR2 content throughout all 3 of your last rigs, I love my 2018 they are so capable.
The ZR2s are pretty amazing! It's hard to say, which is the best, but so far we think besides the approach, the last gen is a little more capable than the new one. We hope to keep showing amazing places with this new one 😉
I'm going to look at a ZR2 today, I've got a lifted Wrangler and never thought I would want a Chevy Truck but they're getting rave reviews. Love the channel!! Thank you...
Awesome! You'll love the zr2!
What did you use to trim the letters?
I have some craft knifes. They are from hobby lobby and worked perfectly
Hi,I have my Tacoma 2017 white trd sport 4 door. I got the Toyota letter to fix the truck and they are only cover/ re paint the 4 doors and 2 front fenders. Nothing of the rest of the car like hood, roof bed for me,all these areas are very affected as well. I got to the dealership and relay the previous information to me, when the Corollas, Camry and others models they re paint the whole car. I think it is not fair from Toyota doing this to their customers. Did someone know any other information or what lost to join to make us all heard. Or should all call the news and start another lawsuit to Toyota. Thank you

What a cute puppy
He is pretty cute
Tacoma💪
Have you been rotating them every 5000 miles?
Yes. The tires are just awful.
great video, but wonder why not used a rack for smaller trucks? did Hooke not have available? I noticed most brands that offer racks for toyota/nissan/ford ranger also work with chevy colorado/canyon and jeep gladiator.
This rack is made to be used without the Toyota or Jeep rail system. However, they are the same size. Chevy just has some issues with the mounting, which we've found to be a problem across the board when we've looked at similar systems. It was pretty easy to adjust this to fit and it was a lot cheaper than some of the others on the market. Honestly, we won't run this on the truck all the time since we use the truck as a daily driver, but it will be super nice for trips in the future.
Your ZR2 doesn't have wireless charging?! I love the OE cupholders in my 23AT4X and the extra cell phone slot for when someone else is using my charger is so handy. I couldn't picture the need for a cell phone holder of fitting bigger cups. I think I would gravitate to the bulletpoint mounts behind the infotainment and use the arm to hold GMRS radio ..or phone. Just IMO. For handy upgrade the little 3d printed pockets that hang on the side of the center console, I use one toward the passenger side and it's a great spot to throw my keys
Right?! The lack of wireless charging in the ZR2 was a bit of a surprise. Apparently that only comes with the level 3 package. The OE cupholders are pretty nice overall, and I do like the cell phone holder in the middle. Way better than last gen! This cup holder attachment has been great in our Subaru since it doesn't fit a phone in the cubby. It will probably be something we use when driving it on trips. I actually like your idea of the bulletpoint mounts; a GMRS radio setup would look legit behind the infotainment screen. And those 3D-printed side pockets are genius! I might have to snag one for myself-my keys are currently playing hide-and-seek in the cupholder jungle. 😅 Thanks for sharing the tips-definitely giving me some ideas for my next upgrade!
@legendarytrails the GMC sales guy told me the only difference between my AT4X and the ZR2 was the HUD and styling. I still think the Chevy got the better interior colors over the white.
@dwn5hft the white is cool looking, but might be hard to keep clean. Does it clean up nice?
@@legendarytrails I used leather wipe from chemical guys and admittedly it's not as bad as I would of thought from trail days, but I feel like I'm always leaving my windows up when off road mega I assume it will get worse
I'm in Longmont, which Mike Maroone did you guys go to?
The one in Northern Colorado Springs. It was a good experience.
@legendarytrails thanks guys, enjoy your new truck! I've been eyeing the ZR2 for a while
Nice. A couple Rotopax, a Decked bed storage system. Sherpa roof rack. Some Roam boxes. Lift. Tires. Winch. Top it with a RTT and you are ready to roll. I’m sure I left a few things out. 😄
$4000 later, lol
Yeah I use my bed too much. They are popular in the city round here. Just don’t start hollering “epic water crossing” at every mud puddle 😅
😆 We won't run it very often since we prefer our tool box instead for most of our adventures. There are several people at work who run them all year long - not sure why🤔
