The night records fell! Leon Marchand won both the 200m butterfly and breaststroke in Olympic record time while Katie Ledecky defended her 1500m crown while also lowering the Olympic record mark in one her trademark events. A new world record for Pan Zhanle of the People's Republic of China, who swam to Olympic glory in the 100m freestyle with a time of 46.40 seconds.

Marchand is such a freak lol. To have 3 medals under his name is insane. Also, people need to stop hating on Pan for winning the race. The situation with the Chinese swimmers doping was sorted out a few years ago, and if they were still doing it, we would see China have way more medals from swimming than they currently do. Even both Chalmers and Popovich (2nd and 3rd) felt like Pan's race was completely clean and that there's room for improvement for both swimmers. Obviously as an Australian I'm disappointed that Chalmers lost, but you can't just hate on Pan for winning because of him being Chinese.

The faster qualifiers will get to swim in the central lanes because both sides of the pool are highly subjected to wash. It is like a little advantage given to whoever swims faster to qualify for the race.

Australian athlete Peter Bol has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for a banned substance.
Always take Chinese victories with a grain of salt, the athletes from there have the highest probability of testing positive for PEDs than any other country competing at the Olympics this year.
