Yup really easy to do, and the Chinese company that makes these sells the circuit boards all over the internet so you can de-bird it easily. Just a quick motherboard swap. Chargers are cheap on eBay too.

Bring out your inner Jeffy Dahmer and one drill bit going into the brains at the right spot means no more talky talky to the network Hint: when looking at the box on top of the handle bars like you’re riding, divide that box into 4 even sections. In the top right box find the center point of that box and go straight in with a cordless drill at least 2”. You’ll go straight through the SIM card or related GSM circuitry
The backup battery for the GPS is one 3200mah 18650 cell inside the handlebar area. So yes when the main battery dies the backup battery will keep the GSM signal alive but I’d imagine it can’t last more than a week or two. Rather than deal with wondering if the battery is dead….just take a power drill to the top half of the display screen. That’s where the GPS hardware is located. If you go for the middle of the top right quadrant you’ll put the drill bit right through the SIM card. No more GSM, no more talking to the cell network so no more GPS. *You should check the rest of the scooter for a backup GPS device. I would check the tube down below the handle bars, around the back tire and the battery compartment.
@@AlwaysBeSmart674 negatory. And I’ve completely torn apart some with angle grinders. I have seen in some markets they will bash in the T25 or T30? Bolt heads so people can’t just roll up, remove a bunch of security torx bolts with an electric screwdriver and slide the entire battery compartment off….but that makes the scooter unserviceable so they have a lot of faith in these things not having severe problems (which makes sense the Bird 2/3 uses 60 LG MJ1 cells in a configuration that’s twice as big as necessary, could have just done 10S3P or 10S4P and the BMS/Controller\Motor combo are all top notch)

@@kishascape It’s not the motherboard that tracks it, it’s the GPS module in the gooseneck. They’re real easy to remove and replace with a speedometer
wOw it still works when then battery dies? all because theh put a small 3v button cell to recharge the gps module when its not being used

If you really want to steal them, the GPS module is really easy to remove. They make it seem like they’re impossible to steal, but they’re not

Accept They already figured out how to disable it and remove the battery. And do it and do it in less then five minutes

Sim is the backup form of tracking so you need to remove the main board just to be safe
