    Yup..looking at this bike too. First, I’ve always loved the Tarmac and second, availability. Great video..

    Just ordered mine. I did some upgrades including Rapide cl wheels,force crank with power quark and roval rapide handlebars. I am coming over from an endurance bike, cervelo c3. The same place I ordered it did a prefit to determine size and of course a follow up fit is forthcoming. I am wondering about the overall comfort. Not sure if you did a long term review yet. Perhaps you can give me some insight on that and your thoughts about my upgrades. Only reason crank was changed from rival was the need for a dual sided power meter not because I am a weight weenie. 😂

    I ride a SL5 and I really wanna upgrade myself and SL7 is on my radar but looking at the weight of it with Rival, I rather would go with Canyon Aeroad.

    Have the same bike in the white! You’re right this is a killer bike. It’s fast and it’s light the rival group set won’t weigh anyone down. My one qualm is the rang of the cassette the 10-36 doesn’t have as many 1 jump cogs like the 10-30. For example the 10-36 goes from 15 to 13 which is a pretty big jump and is a little but to heavy for me to shift in unless I’m going down hill. Maybe I need to get stronger tho. This knowledge is all possible thanks to the axs web page super cool

    • @AnwarEatonCycling
      @AnwarEatonCycling  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The axs web app is amazing. I’m contemplating the same switch. I don’t even really use the smallest one. Did a few small sprints today and was in my 11tooth ring for all of 18 second lol didn’t even get down to 10. But I honestly really enjoying going and doing some hills now and again so if I do the swap will probably be for my rovals and keep the 10-36 on my dt Swiss wheels

    The SL7 is a stupidly fast bike. My first rides on it were all 5+ minutes faster over a 40K than my previous.

    Any thoughts on rival etap and disc brakes rubbing? Are they really that annoying with re centre pads when taking the front wheels out and putting it in the car? Im still hesitant to transition from rim to disc. Thanks.

    • @AnwarEatonCycling
      @AnwarEatonCycling  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly love rival etap. Just got the power meter for it as well and so far everything is perfect. Both my modern bikes have disc brakes though so I can’t give a solid comparison. I’ve never had to touch the brakes when taking off the wheel or putting it back on. With my giant use to take it off about daily to put on my trainer. Sl7 I’ve only taken off the wheel once but no issues. On my older bike I hated having to loosen the rim brake to get wheel free.

    I just put the white color on reserve size 52, but noticed the Trek 2022
    Émonda SL 6 eTap comes with Carbon wheels, and a power meter for $100 USD more

      @AnwarEatonCycling  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly I really like thy trek my shop said it wouldn’t be in till 2022 so that was the end of my research into it. But the Edmonda in that spec is an extremely solid choice.

    • @87togabito
      @87togabito 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      But why would you buy the bike based on the parts, when you can literally upgrade ANYTHING but the frame to improve the ride?
      Just buy the bike that you want, then upgrade the parts slowly over time.

    • @AnwarEatonCycling
      @AnwarEatonCycling  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not like in this range we are talking about a budget frame vs top tier. When you look at this category a lot of people are looking at the full package but I do agree that frame should be a factor in what you get.

    • @87togabito
      @87togabito 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AnwarEatonCycling I do get the idea of looking at it as a full package. Both are great bikes of similar caliber.
      But choosing the one you prefer less will just lead to buyers remorse down the road when the budget opens itself up again. Chances are you’d end up selling the whole bike and buying the bike you should I’ve started with from the very beginning
      Might as wel pay more for the frame you want from the get go, then upgrade the parts as you go along.

    Great video. Would be curious to see if you have any new thoughts or anything to mention about SRAM Etap and how reliable or not these components have been during your ride. How often do you need to charge your e - battery?

    • @AnwarEatonCycling
      @AnwarEatonCycling  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’m still loving it. Battery life is really good. Yesterday was my first day of getting a critical battery warning since I forgot to charge it after 10 days of racing and some riding after. I swapped the front and back battery since it was a very flat area I was riding and was good to go. Usually before my big important rides I’ll charge it and otherwise I’ll just throw them on the charger about once a month and I’ve been good. Honestly most annoying part of charging the battery is it only comes with one charger so you can’t just throw both batteries on the charger overnight before you ride but not the worst complaint.
      The shifting performance overall has been great haven’t had any missed shifts and even when I’ve had to shift while sprinting or going uphills shifting has performed flawlessly. I feel like every time I shift it just falls into place without any rattling or anything it just fits into place. The biggest issue I had was when it was in sequential mode and i stopped pedaling after i thought it was done shifting and my chain dropped. Right now I just have it in compensating 1 cog max mode and have multi shift all up and down. So I can just hold my shifter and fall in the gear I want vs repeatedly tapping. Honestly only upgrade I’ve made has been the power meter and I’m contemplating going down to a 10-33 cassette for racing since there’s very few times I need such a large range for crits. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

    How is compliance and comfort on the bike? I’m coming from an older Roubaix and want a more aggressive ride….but I’m not sure if the Aethos would be better suited for me.
    I know switching to tubeless, possibly going with 28s, and running lower psi would also improve comfort.
    How’s your experience been thus far in the comfort/compliance category?
    Thanks!

    I am deciding between 2022 Tarmac Sl7 comp and Roubaix Comp. I am not a racer. Love riding and going for the first century ride. I typically do about 50 miles on trials with few bumps. How comfortable is this bike to ride. Thoughts on Tarmac vs Roubaix?

    • @AnwarEatonCycling

    What was that about the free hub?

    • @AnwarEatonCycling
      @AnwarEatonCycling  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need an xdr free hub body for the roval wheels. Since sram rival is 12 speed you need a different free hub body to fit the cassette.

    Hey! nice bike! i was in a similar situation last year - sl6 for me - went gp5000 25f/28r and big difference vs turbos - added volume rear helps vs pinch flats and comfort (if you're big like me 185cm / 86kg)

    • @AnwarEatonCycling

      5’ 7” size 52 I was right in between. If you have a specialized shop close they have a retual machine that can double check your bike height by measuring your leg lengths and stuff if you ask.

      @@AnwarEatonCycling Nice bike, but $6k for a 19lb real world bike weight is ridiculous in a 52cm. My 56cm SL3 with Ultegra mechanical 10 speed and 50mm carbon wheels with extra spoke count weighs 16 lbs 5 oz with cages, pedals and mount. This is why I am keeping my old bikes. I need to spend $10k to get that kind of weight.
