How to tune your violin - in realtime!

  • In this video, I tune my new violin from scratch in REAL TIME.
    There are 2 parts to this video;
    the first part is for those who are tuning a brand NEW violin right out the box and the second part is for those who are tuning on a daily basis to maintain.
    Below is the tuner I recommend. There are cheaper ones out there of course, but they attach to the pegs which I do not believe gives a good/accurate enough tune and they are just not accurate in themselves.

    My violin course is the only course available on the internet like it.
    It 100% GUARANTEES to take you from a complete beginner to an accomplished intermediate level! I realise this is a bold statement, but it's tried and tested and I fully stand by it.
    All the lessons come with downloadable only books as well as videos (linked in the books) which makes it the only interactive course of its kind out there!

    RECOMMENDED VIOLINS:
    Fiddlerman violins are the only violins I currently recommend. You can choose the violin to suite you depending on your budget. Remember the cheaper you go (buying rubbish from Amazon for example), the worse the violin will be (garbage most likely) and the HARDER it will be to learn - which is why Fiddlerman violins are an excellent beginners choice:

    I wasn’t so fortunate. I snapped my first and only string - the E string while tuning it on the first day I got my violin. However, as Ricky Nelson would’ve said, “But it’s all right now, I’ve learned my lesson well.” 😢

    This is such a good video Alison. Very informative. I've just purchased the micro tuner that you reccommended and it's brilliant and I've also managed to get the app on my iPhone too, which was fantastic news. Just purchased your 1-30 Violin Course too, which I'm excited to start.

    Loved this, my violin had been sitting for years, so took my time. Now when I go to start again, it will be ok. Fingers crossed.

    You were talking about the fine tuners being used for practice. How do you, I guess reverse them? If the fine tuners are gettng "used up" how do you get everything even again? I know that probably doesn't make sense but I don't know the words to use. Can you feed string back from tuner to peg?

    • @TheOnlineViolinTutor
      @TheOnlineViolinTutor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You simply unwind them, then you have to tune them via the pegs. I briefly covered this at some point in the video I think - I didnt demonstrate though.
      Perhaps I can make a separate video on that....

    Good morning Alison. I have a question I have 3 different ways of tuning my violin one way is the chromatic tuner 92 - D that came with the violin, the other 1 is a shark. And the other 1 is a phone app each 1 shows a different reading I don't understand why should I just stay with 1 and go that way or what? Help me help me please thank you

      Are they all listing to. your violin and telling you whether its in tune or not as its going to depend on where they are?
      Is the app on your violin picking up the closest and strongest vibrations? If not, then its not going to be as accurate as the others.
      This is why I prefer the tuner I use in the video as its the most accurate tuner I have found.
      Bottom line, as long as its 'in tune' you can crack on :)
