You interpolating Bernard Wright over Prince gives so much, undeniable stank face, uugghgh - literally made my entire Friday. Now, I need this whole track to put on my (thanks to your inspiration) iPod!!
Dude reminds me why im a Patreon sub with every video. Niche references, the greatest songs and always learning something new. I would have NEVER guessed Karen Carpenter.
MJ, Snoop Dog, The Gap Band, Marcus Miller, Ca7riel and Paco, Robson Jorge, my God, what a genre blender. I loved it. EDIT: If you liked Ca7riel and Paco's Tiny Desk, you should check out yet another argentinian band that mixes hip hop, soul and funk: Illya Kuryaki and the Valderramas.
As a subscriber and a future patroeon, bruh how you forget Rick James, Superfreak, or Hall and Oates, I Can’t Go for That? Lol lol. Those choices you picked are Gold too!
10:23 Fun fact, Will Smith's Willennium was my first CD with my first CD player for Christmas when I was 10. So yeah I've got a chunk of my brain devoted to Big Willie's nonsense too.
Big Willy and the Wife belong in the Penitentiary if what we been hearing about the kid is true 🤔 I don’t know if it is. I ain’t trying to hear these MFs names right now, same goes for the biggest power couple in the industry. Will Smiths musical releases always been straight garbage anyway. Never real Hip Hop. He’s an actor, as real as Vanilla Ice😂
Mentioning Robson Jorge and Linconl Olivetti is really great, two of the greatest brazilian artists. Last year an EP was published with five songs never released from the duo, it's called Déjà Vu and I really loved and recommend. A video about their homonymous album or Marcos Valle's Estrelar would be excellent! Sending my regards from Brazil!
Thank you for throwing in that Robson Jorge & Lincoln Olivetti song there. Never heard about it before, but listening now and loving it!! Reminds me a bit of some of EWFs instrumental cuts.
That Prince version was badass.Really nice playing. You got a great feel. BTW That Jazz Bass alone will probably get you the gig. The Warwick in your last video didn't really do it for me.(I know ,it's a matter of taste)
I'm subscribing, the fact you know some really cool but obscure shit like the Paco and Ca7riel Tiny Desk reeled me in. When I saw that I was blown away too.BTW since you are hip to the Brazilian stuff, check out Robinho Tavares (w Ed Motta) Talk about some cool "soundcheck grooves"
as I don't have my basses with me at the time, this gave me severe groove abstinence... but great video! The "I Wish" interpolation from Catriel and Paco's Tiny Desk comes from Catriel's solo album "El Disko", really cool album to check out, just as their Tiny Desk Performance!
Interestingly, Karen Carpenter eventually DID accept and sing a Rod Temperton-penned track (and a personal favorite) called "Lovelines," which Richard posthumously released after Karen's death.
Bruno ripped off “Ain’t No Fun…”, but Tuxedo made a whole song that was basically, “what if ‘Ain’t No Fun’ was a sample?” Also, “Wild Wild West” was nowhere as bad as “Nod Ya Head” from the Men In Black II soundtrack lmao.

My mom was next to me when I watched this and she started making a face 😂
That Paco and Ca7riel's Tiny Desk is ABSOLUTELY infectious! 17 minutes of dope grooves and sick pocket! Amazing!
Although The Gap Band's "Outstanding" is well known for the bassline, ironically, it was written by their drummer, Raymond Calhoun.
Dude reminds me why im a Patreon sub with every video. Niche references, the greatest songs and always learning something new. I would have NEVER guessed Karen Carpenter.
The Patreon edit of this one goes much longer 😂 partially for music clearance and partially for long sections where I’m just riffin haha
I'm a simple man. I see Joe Dart in the thumbnail, I click the video
The irresistible Joseph Dart
Hell yeh
Correct assumption, you have your head screwed on right.
So glad you mentioned that Robson Jorge & Lincoln Olivetti album - the first track Jorgea Corisco is INCREDIBLE
Hell yeah, already starting off strong with Gap Band! I haven't even finished the video and I know this is gonna be good lol

From that first one, I knew this was going to be Outstanding!
As a subscriber and a future patroeon, bruh how you forget Rick James, Superfreak, or Hall and Oates, I Can’t Go for That? Lol lol. Those choices you picked are Gold too!

Oh helllllll yeah, man!

Sending my regards from Brazil!
Yeah! Estrelar is amazing - love Lance Ferguson's no vocals version!
Yeah, that was dope. Thanks for "The Artist" mashup; cheers!
4:22 KEEP IT!
-long as the youtube doggies allow it to be kept-
The first one I thought of was Back In The Day - infectious groove...
Tuxedo also ran with that Snoop Dogg groove and made a great song. Can't go wrong with Mayer Hawthorne.
Yes! Love that version too
I appreciate the shout out to Paco and Ca7riel’s Tiny Desk, they knocked it out of the park.
Awesome content as usual!
Thank you for throwing in that Robson Jorge & Lincoln Olivetti song there. Never heard about it before, but listening now and loving it!! Reminds me a bit of some of EWFs instrumental cuts.
That original Beastly recording is wild and that bassline one of those I'll start humming subconsciously while doing housework. A proper earworm.
0:52 Ah yes, the naming convention of calling your 6th album 'Gap Band IV' 😆
Digging....The Greats.....On the Fen-der Bass!
Yoooo more bass videos are always a W in my book!
Fantastic playing sir, respect.
Love the mash-up!!!!
need more vulf content on this channel pls
In a previous project I interviewed Jack - I could talk a very long time about what a marketing genius he is. Musical as well. Vulf is one my faves 🔥
He could basically pick any one of their songs blind & for this theme it would’ve hit the bullseye
(🥁 🥁 📀 I’m here all night folks)
YES, we need a full dissection of the best song ever, "Disco Ulysses".
Great video as always. Although I kept waiting for Heartbeat by Taana Gardner
Loving the bass content please do more
Keep it!!! That was dope! I think DG should do an edit label on Bandcamp..❤
Those mashups though!! love em!
Man more vids like this my guy💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Best part of Wild West is during the breakdown, there’s a backup vocal shouting breakdown repeatedly.
Your rants are oddly calming.
Good shit putting us on the Robson Jorge and Lincoln Olivetti album. Absolutely bonkers
my first video as a subscriber!
that mashup went harder than it had any right too hahaha
Just when I needed it
I too am a simple man.
Not unlike @DSmickles, when I see Joe Dart in a thumbnail, I watch the video.
Great work as always, Sir.
Love the episode. Love the podcast! Got a link to that tiny desk concert you mention when talking about “I Wish”? Thanks!
Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge! Also thanks to you, I checked out Ca7riel's and Paco's Tiny Desk Concert!
That Prince version was badass.Really nice playing. You got a great feel. BTW That Jazz Bass alone will probably get you the gig. The Warwick in your last video didn't really do it for me.(I know ,it's a matter of taste)
My go to bass line lately: Tom Browne - Let’s Dance
When I would play bass live, I would start sound check with "Touch" by A Certain Ratio. Got to work that slap bass in there.
Digging the Greats featuring his guitar 🎸 🔥🔥
I played in a punk band and would always warm up with the bass line from king Kunta, pretty sure it went over everyone's heads
So good
Bro I love this hip hop shit love your videos a big hip hop nerd 😂😂
That last bass line would be amazing mashed up with The Girl is Mine ❤
Oh good call 🔥

Dude goin' Beast like Gohan!
Glad there's some Dart on this list 🔥
Haha…Ain’t No Fun is one of my band’s go to staples
common digging the greats w
Joe Dart is my favorite bassist. Living legend
Back in the day is a sick bass lines 🙌🏼, written by James poyser 🎹
What about the baseline on Dynamite by the Roots? Obviously a Dilla sample but impressive nontheless
I'm learning Bass and it would be soooo cool if you could add tabs for these tracks. Would that be possible?
Chic's good times but you probably did that in the previous bass licks video. Also pull up to the bumper by grace jones.
Notes or tabs anywhere?
YOOOOO CHEERS FROM BRAZIL
Braylon one if the realest in the game
yo, can you make another Spotify playlist for this?
You should listen to “dr. funk” by the main squeeze. Some really funky grooves in that song
How about the baseline from "Glide" by Pleasure?
YES
Lincoln Olivetti is the boogie boss.
I want to learn to play bass so bad I am a little scared to attempt to learn it tho
What about “Link Up” by NxWorries?? Yea, I went there 😏
as I don't have my basses with me at the time, this gave me severe groove abstinence... but great video! The "I Wish" interpolation from Catriel and Paco's Tiny Desk comes from Catriel's solo album "El Disko", really cool album to check out, just as their Tiny Desk Performance!

I got that joke! I want to be friends!!!
I got the joke😉
