For someone who is Upgrading from analog but wants purely the long-range functionality which would you recommend. The v2 with the upgraded antennas seems far superior but what's your opinion.
Yeah if you just want have the best possible Range, than the Old v2's are the way to go at the moment! But the formfactor of the new Goggles 2 are so much better in my eyes. I use the Old v2s for very long range 5km+ and the new Googles 2 for everything less than 5km xD
@@benjaminscordamaglia6031 i have checked the Goggle 2s with different antennas... they are not as good as the v2's check this video out ; th-cam.com/video/9edJqO__8jY/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=RRDronephotography
How are you finding the goggles 2 in general? Fit, screens, lenses, weight. Are they worthy to be considered for general fpv? (not long range) Or would one be better off with the v2?
For me i realy love the goggles 2! The seize and the weight are much better than the old ones. And the Oled screens are so much better in terms of details, sharpness and colors!. The only downside is the small "sweet spot" the lenses dont have a big "sweet spot" if you see the middle of the image clear, then the edges are a bit unsharp. But for me its not a big issue. For me the Goggles 2 fit better than the old one. But i realy have a small face. I think for other peoples they dont like the fit.
@@rrdrone90 Yeah am one of those people…😞 but am also really let down from the optics built into the goggles. I can’t see the whole screen which is a pity since its such a high quality screen. And when I remove the foam to get closer and see more fov, the high res screen at the edges is blurred out to the point where it goes to waste. It’s clear that it’s a lens problem. Why cheap out on the lenses when everything else is premium? If the goggles would have cost half the price I would have said never mind but I have VR goggles that cost half as much with better lenses where I can see the whole screen no problem. I feel like “I paid for the whole screen I want to be able to see the whole screen”. Now I want to buy the V2 just to see if its just me that got used to the quality of modern VR goggles and I have too high expectations or if their lenses are really that bad. The only goggle which could save the day is the leaked integra goggle. If they put slightly bigger optics in there they could satisfy more people with it. Am still on the fence if am going to send them back or not (G2). It’s not an easy choice. That’s why am asking.
Nice flying. subscr. Just thinking is to get used v2 now or wait until google 2 become available. Im new to the fpv. and really like stabilized video the dji sends
Thank you. If you can get v2 goggles for a good price, just go with it. They are very good for flying aswell. On some specs they are even better than the goggles 2!
Yeah it looks like, so far the V2's with patch antennas are the way to go for Longrange. Maybe this will change in the future with some updates, and other Antennas for the Goggles 2. And maybe its different with the O3 Air unit. My O3 is ordered, i think ill do the same test with the O3, if i get my one :)
@@simonrcfpv2597 Well, I have to test the goggles with the currently available antennas. At the moment there are no other antennas for the Goggles 2. as soon as there are other antennas, I will be the first to test them Yes, both goggles are in FCC mode.

Would be interesting to compare the o3 air unit, and to compare stock vs stock, I think the goggles 2 antennas are better configured for the o3, where as patch antennas always work better than stock for the vistas/air units. Also even though the bitrate drops more on the goggles 2, from what I’ve read it’s more flyable at low bit rates, where as the v2’s start to get really blocky and hard to fly at lower bitrates
Yeah i think it needs a bit moore testing. This was just a short 1 to 1 comparison of my 2 Goggles i have. I ordered the O3. And ill make the same test with it. A Stock vs Stock compsrison would be interesting. But makes no sense for longranging. Because no one flys longrange on the Stock antennas! I just wanted to check if the Goggles 2 could exchange my V2's And at the moment they cannot. Ill do moore testing with the O3. There will come some moore Videos if i got mine :)
I did compare just the range of both goggles. The only thing that changes is the bitrate. The old Goggles v2 can hold the better bitrate. So it is better in range. The picture un both should look the same. Because its the same camera on the quad. In reality the OLEDs from the goggle 2 looks better! (Because i can go up to 10km without any problems with them)
Great test! Stock antennas will always be weaker, can't wait for antennas from other companies to come out. Also, in V2 video you fly much higher than with Goggles 2, that should definitely make a difference.
Yeah i know. "TrueRC" made some new Antennas for the Goggles 2! I already ordered them:) www.truerc.ca/shop/5-8ghz-2/receiver-long-range/x-air-5-8-mk-ii-pair-for-dji-goggles-2 And i got a O3 Air unit aswell. So if i received the Antennas ill make a new test with evrything!
You should buy the new true RC patches for the Goggles 2... Noticable improvement with penetration... I don't do long range, so couldn't vouch for that
Nice Test! The Goggles V2 are very strong with upgrade antennas. I think with stock antennas it will be perform worth than Goggles 2. So looking forward to see upgrade antennas for Goggles 2 (like True RC). The Range with stock antennas on the Goggles 2 is good with AU V1 and even better with O3 AU.
True im also waiting on upgrade Antennas for the Google 2. But yes, for Freestyle etc. the Range is enough. for longranging at the moment its better to use Goggles V2 with patch^^
@@rrdrone90 your testing for the o3 will really clarify a few things so i'm genuinely really excited to see your results, if you're using the 5.8ghz patch on the v2 that will work better than stock for the older air units, but I think stock (dual band) wins for the DJI FPV as it's using 2.4ghz, so if o3 is also using 2.4 then maybe the 5.8 patch wouldn't work well for o3, maybe someone will bring out 2.4ghz or dual band patches for the v2, where as the goggles 2 stock antenna are already dual band patches+omni's so in theory should work fine out the box, this is absolutely mind boggling and I really don't know what the best solution is for both older air units and o3
