      @@KOrnhOliO1 Yeah, I think I have 5 vista units. The only problem I've ever had was a broken mipi cable from a crash on the 1st build using the DJI system, but the cable was stretched pretty tight and the build was not very solid. Replaced it with a longer cable and I've never had a problem with any of the DJI products. I think I'd rather have 120fps 720p over 100fps 1080p too.

    7:52 - do not test this stuff in low power mode, Air Units will limit them selfs when not armed. Also, to get fastest performance on the O3s with the goggles 2 you will need to set the videomode to 100FPS on the O3. O3 and G2 Combo will work best then you set the video mode to 4:3 2,7k 100fps. It has also the best FOV.

    Hi Steele, Goggles 2 feel like 24 fps/low quality on low power mode and the bitrate you noticed is not liying 🙂 No need to fly, I did the same test on the bench with no props. Difference between low and full power mode is night and day in the Goggles (you can also disable Low power mode in the menu if you prefer). It can be seen in the DVR too. I'll post a DVR sample just under this comment, hoping TH-cam will let it be 😅

    After 7 years, I finally went from analog to digital; I got the goggles 2 - never tried the v2 - didn’t believe it was worth it, and the v1/v2 was so bulky like most dji. I can’t afford both...and I still wish the Goggles 2 could be as small as the fatsharks, but at least its much closer to that size than the v2. Regardless, digital is awesome! Happy to experience the change. I had no issue with the update.

    My goggles 2 actually broke after not much use, and I was super careful with them. In contrast Ive been throwing my v1's and v2's into my bag with the rest of my stuff for years without issue. Got my goggles 2 back from repair yesterday and thought about selling them, but decided to keep them because I have a set of v2's already and I enjoy the weight/size difference on my face. That said, I have been weighing all of the same plusses and minuses, aside from the frame rate issue you are pointing out. As others have said, I think your test my not be valid in that case because of low power mode. I've noticed no latency/frame rate difference personally.

    I do really have problems with Goggles 2 to get the whole image sharp and in focus. I have ordered RHO lenses because they where a breeze on V1 goggles. For Goggles 2 they do not make any difference. I am also thinking about switching back to V2 goggles ...

  • @nechaevrus
    @nechaevrus ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The hertz difference in your test is so evident because googles 2 and the unit are in low power mode. O3 unit goes to full power mode only when it gets arm signal from fc.

    • @SkeezyFPV
      @SkeezyFPV ปีที่แล้ว

      Both were in low power mode though. The O3 air unit connects in low power mode to the V2s until you arm as well. All things being equal, what other simple explanation is there that the video from the v2s is smoother with steele flying both quads. Yes, I understand confirmation bias but I think any reasonable person would come to the same conclusion whether they flew fpv or even if they didn’t. Honestly I haven’t seen one test out there showing that the g2s perform better re: latency or frame rate.

    • @nechaevrus
      @nechaevrus ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SkeezyFPVI agree that experience is the most important thing we have here to make our conclusion. But I want to point out, that the difference in real flight will be much smaller than shown in the experiment. Also, we can see 50 mbps bandwidth in v2 googles here against 7 mbps in g2. The conditions are not equal.

There was too much that I couldn’t see, battery, read, outs, and things like that. Googles worked perfect for 2 months, then the image would freeze up during mid flight, causing me to use GPS rescue on my long range quads that I built. I sent my V2 Googles to DJI repair center and they ended up replacing the Core Board Module for free since this was a known issue for some Googles. If they would have not honored any warranty, the Core Board Module would cost $160 and repair service fee $65. They did remove my skin decal sticker and I had to update the software and 1200mw hack again, V2 Googles have worked great since then.

    I found a decent solution to the goggles 2 foam fitment that gave me a zero light leak fit, and doesn't play tummysticks with the bridge of my nose. It did involve cutting the stock foam away from the face plate for about 2" outside and under each eye, then slipping some thin foam in and gluing it in. But it came out pretty clean. I understand your reasons. The form factor was the #1 jumping off point for me. I am really hoping they do ok without a fan when summer comes. Not putting a fan in was kind of a numb nuts move imo.

    One thing: goggles 2 records osd on dvr and phone video out, so you can rewatch all stuffs, include long-lat gps (if needed), but goggles v2 doesnt, when the O3 air unit turn off, video transmitter off and all OSD will go.

    It would be cool to see goggle companies do what the new Beyond VR headset is doing which is custom fitting the faceplate to your face. When you order the headset, you take a lidar scan of your face with an iPhone and send them the 3d scan. They use that to make a perfect fitting foam cushion for your headset.

    I don't think the stuttering is anything to do with framerate, I think it's because the shutter speed is too fast. The same effect can be generated by using 'Sport" mode on a video camera. It's why they shoot movies at 24 FPS because the eye/brain sees one motion-blurred frame to the next as a smooth transition, whereas it has problems resolving consecutive razor-sharp images as a smooth transition. It's also why camera drones use neutral density filters so the shutter stays open longer to induce motion blur.

  • @farmersfpv5489

    It only looks like 1 of these air units was in low power mode... I'm pretty sure they go down to like 10 or 15 fps in low power mode.

      Great idea!!! I have a PVS-14 night vision monocular I’m trying to decide if it’s worth trying to mount in front of a GoPro bones on a 7”. You’ve piqued my interest lol. We need a low light 03 camera because that’s the weak link right there. PVS-14s are very low latency analog tech and if there was a way to mount it for the fpv cam it would be sick af!!! That’s a lot of money to put in the air though. I’ve dropped them from 20 feet and they are waterproof to 60m so they are durable…. Maybe I need some subscribers and a patreon hahahaha. Omg the sick vids I could make ripping through the woods at night. I’m sure it’s doable but I’m a USMC vet. I eat crayons for snacks. This might be above my pay grade by several notches 😂

      Absolutely. Low power mode works completely different for some reason on the V2. You get about 5ms better latency on the V2 but the difference between 810p and 1080p is so much better, its worth it IMO - IF you can get the foam faceplate to fit your face properly.
