    "I think I blacked out" YAAASS!!! Every single interview I've ever had!! :'D Especially the districts that I was REALLY interested in.
    All joking aside, watching you and a few other bloggers from AZ is making me want to relocate!!!

    Great story! So happy for you! My interview process was a 3 step process years ago and it was definitely grueling with admin, teachers, and parents on the panel, demo lesson, and second interview. So funny you mentioned Bilingual Ed. because that's exactly what I teach. It was the only position I was offered 4 years after I graduated and 1 year before my credential expired and was a wild ride. But now I can't imagine teaching anything else! Kinder bilingual ed is quite a shocker 😄

    Loved hearing your story! I didn't prep at all for my interviews either. I always wanted to teach higher grades in elementary 3-5. I never thought I would like teaching kindergarten. I was then hired as one and loved it!

    Thank you so much for sharing this video. I've also watched "The Secret" and it changed my life ever since. So good to know that there are teachers out there who also know what it's all about :)

    Will you please make a video on how a teacher resume should look? And what advise do you give to a Elementary Ed student that doesn't have any prior teaching or child care experience?

    I just got a job for a kindergarten teacher at a public charter school. It's crazy because I applied to so many jobs thinking I wouldn't get kindergarten and this is a brand new school opening!

    Thanks for sharing Fernanda! I feel like you and I have so much in common. I just graduated from the University of New Mexico (we're neighbors kinda lol) with my degree in Elementary Ed. with a bilingual endorsement. Your videos are super helpful as an upcoming first year teacher! I know you said you're not willing to move but maybe later on in your career you could challenge yourself and get a bilingual endorsement and come teach in New Mexico. I'm not too sure if you guys have that in Arizona? We need good bilingual teachers :) but congrats in getting your dream job!

    You're so lucky their are so many job opportunities for teachers in Arizona. I am going into my seventh year of teaching in Ohio and jobs are SCARCE. There are hundreds of applicants for a single job! Have a great first year!

    This is a vlog question~When you make a weekly vlog do you edit daily so the editing is mostly complete by the end of the week or do you wait and edit all at once? Also, how long does it take you to upload a week-long blog. I made a 3 minute video and it took 4 hours to upload!!! Thanks :)

    • @itsferslife
      @itsferslife  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Harmony Abee I edit it all at once on Fridays
      How fast it uploads depends on your internet speed
      A 25min video typically takes 45 mins to upload for me

    Loved this video! It was very informative!! Just curious, if kindergarten was your "dream" grade, why would you not get a degree that offered that?
    I am in an early childhood program currently and that covers pre-kindergarten to 3rd grade. Its a great degree for those of us that want to teach primary grades because as im sure you know, teaching kindergarten vs. 8th grade is a completely different experience so it allows a more narrow experience. :)

      because college advisors gave me wrong information about certification when I was a freshman. She told me that ECE covered pre k and K ONLY, and I didn't want to be limited to just those two grades.
      At the time, I didn't want to teach kindergarten. Honestly, that was the last grade level I wanted to teach. It wasn't until I had to work in a kindergarten classroom for an after school program, and I fell in love with that grade level.
      By the time I found out that what that one advisor had told me was completely wrong, and like you said, ECE covers Pre K -3rd, iI was too far into my program. I was already a year behind, and switching my major would have delayed me another year. Instead, I finished my elementary education degree with plans of getting my provisional ECE endorsement in order to teach kindergarten.
      In the end, all I needed to do was become "Highly Qualified" in ECE by taking the subject knowledge test.

    • @itsferslife
      @itsferslife  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      My portfolio was not the best one haha.
      It looked pretty, but the content was not good because I didn't put much effort into it.
      I kinda just did it last minute just because it counted as an assignment.
      Watch Pocketful of Primary's portfolio video. It is super informative if you are looking to learn more about portfolios
