- This Maytag Centennial Washer Won't Spin - or so a customer said. When we get any of these style washing machines in our store, the first thing we do is plug it in and check for Maytag Centennial Washer error codes to see what is exactly wrong with the machine. This helps us quickly figure out what components could be causing the issues, then fix them.
In this video, we're going to tackle a few issues through diagnostics, and you'll also get the entire Maytag Washer Error Code list, too.

Having had a 32 year career as technology teacher I appreciate the clarity with which you presented a complex system and allowed time and opportunity to observe and absorb. Thank you for helping so many. Keep up the good work.
TY
I recalibrated many times & wouldn't start. I can't pull Washer out bc I just had surgery.
This morning I prayed and recalibrate and it's washing
TY and I pray for you 😊
WOW! I work in industrial repairs and have watched so many videos of all kinds. This is definitely the best! Your details and information are so well presented, great camera work and SOUND (so many videos have horrible sound!)!!! I feel very confident that I can now address whatever is wrong with my Centennial (the very same model as yours). Thank you so much, and if you found this video and have a bad washer, watch and learn!
Thanks! I have watched numerous videos to determine what is wrong with my Maytag and how to fix it myself. While I appreciate all who have shared their knowledge, your videos are by far the most useful in my opinion. Your explanation, screens, and pace are all fantastic. I want to thank you and show some support. Sharing your knowledge and experience is a tremendous help to those of us on our own.
This is what I like is someone who explains even the little things. I didn't even know the manual was inside the washer, kind of silly place to have it. I had already downloaded it and now with this video I hope I can diagnose the problem and fix mine.
I had already unscrewed the latch and noticed mine is spinning and starts fast then stops and the high agitator speed doesn't seem to be working. Not sure if it's the capacitor or something else. Sounds like the agitator at 1st also isn't in place or off if that makes sense and I checked the screw and it is in tight real tight and its hard to even unscrew so I can't check to see if spindle is worn if that's even the wording.
Thanks again for the tutorial and wish we could nominate videos for awards because this and all of yours deserves one for content.
I just want to thank you for your videos. I have used several of your videos now. What I like is how you actually make your videos. Most people will waste 8-10 minutes micro explaining things like their audience absolutely has no idea what they’re doing. Which can be helpful. But if you’re looking for these types of videos you most likely you have some kind of idea of how to do your own work.
Excellent!!!
Thank you so much. We call Maytag repair and we're told there was no reset. You saved us $1k ( which we did not have!) You are my hero today!
Wonderful video !!! Originally I got ripped off by the appliance repair guy from Sears who came over to check the washer . He ran a two minute self disagnoses and said it would cost over $600 for a new control board to repair so it wouldn't be worth fixing and gave me a 10% off coupon to buy a new one at Sears and charged me the $79 diagnoses fee . After watching a few of these videos I found out it was the actuator so I bought a new one for $25 and now the machine works perfect. Sears pulled a total rip off scam to get you to buy a new one. I complained to consumer affairs but they said it's legal to scam and cheat consumers and they really don't so anything down there but collect their government pay.
Fixed! My washer apparently was stuck in sensing mode, because when I cleared everything back to factory default, presto, it works as it should. I had an appt scheduled for this Monday for a repairman. $95 trip charge, $25 per quarter hour labor, plus part. I was looking at roughly a $175 repair bill. Not anymore thanks to you. Much respect.
Using this video to diagnose the problem AND run the recalibration, I fixed my washer! THANK YOU!
At first I thought it wasn't spinning. I came to TH-cam and found you "washer not spinning" video. I went into the error codes and found a code that was not in the video. Then I found this video and it was the drain error. I ran the auto test, then the manual test, and the washer spun but did not drain. I found the part on Amazon for $25! It came next day, I installed it, ran the recalibration cycle, and IT WORKS! Thank you so much!
You do a Great job with this video! I was able to fix our washer with your shared Knowledge. The only problem I had was getting it out of the "calibration/demo mode" I ended up unplugging the washer and held the on/off button in for a minute, plugged it back in and it worked. With your code diagnostics and viewing a few other videos I was able to make a semi-educated guess at what the problem was. It did turn out to be the actuator. I had thought I received the wrong part through "Sears Parts Direct" and brought the new part to an appliance parts store because it didn't match the part on my washer. I was told the part had been replaced with the black plastic version even though they did not look similar. It was true, and the part I had received did fit and worked.
Hope this may help others too.
I finally found and stopped at a diagnostic video that is complete. All the others were very vague, incomplete and the narration resembled that of an auctioneer!
Thank you! 🤠👍
Much appreciated! Didn't know if my Maytag had a diagnostic mode...but it did. I was able to decipher the error codes and have a mode shifter fault. It's stuck in spin mode and will not agitate. Thanks for the video! You saved me a lot of $$.
I used the access to the fault codes and was able to restore the washer to functioning properly. I didn't have to replace anything, just clear out the Fault codes. We were almost ready to buy a new washer. Thanks
Gotta say this video was extremely helpful in getting my neighbors washing machine up and running tonight as he just picked it up earlier as a used unit that was supposed to work but wouldn't do anything when he got it home. Running through the diagnostics and the reset got her back up and running despite my lacking an entire understanding, but if a fumble wins the game I'll take it.. 😉 thanks for this one
It was near the end of the video that you stated something I had never heard nor consider- after changing a part that effects the electrical system, recalibrate/reset the CB. Fantastic. Thank you.
Its extremely overlooked. The computer board doesn't magically *know* what situation a new component is in. Was the shift actuator in agitate or spin prior to replacement? The lid lock? What wash cycle? So many small things that the system assumes is true/false and it won't be able to conjure the situation until you force the machine to reset.

Very good video, was a life saver, I ran the codes, couldn't quite figure them out, ran them again, no codes, is spinning like it should! Wife was hoping for a new washer! Not now!
Your videos have been so helpful for us! We recently discovered our agitator wasn’t working… I had my suspicions months ago but my husband just figured I was complaining just to complain. Turns out… the agitator hasn’t been working since we bought it! The pin wasn’t attached to the proper spot so it was never engaging the agitation! A simple factory problem that wasn’t discovered for over a year! We ran the diagnostic test and then from the other video we got underneath and started examining the parts…. There it was!
You bought yourself a washing machine from hell. Why didn't you just stick your money down a rat hole?
What other video was that, if you do t mind sharing? Thanks!
Hey man this was very well done thank you so much! Honestly I had no idea a washer was so complex. I've used bits, bytes and nibbles to diagnose giant crazy expensive machines but never knew it was how I was going to get trouble codes from my washer. I know this video will help lots of people and we all thank you for making it. Hope you're staying safe and thanks again!
These style machines have some EXTENSIVE features that let you basically test everything and know what's going on to fix them 90% of the time before you actually take a single component apart. Its a little bit.... Complex... To get down, but we deal with these machines at my used appliance shop so much, we just plug them in with electric anymore, and do a pre-screen diagnosis so we can figure out exactly what it needs before it moves down the line for refurbishment, because that 5min test can work out junk that could take a solid hour to figure out by just running the unit.

Well done! It's heartening to see young people who know their stuff. Keep up the good work!
Hands down the best, most descriptive how to video on washing machines. Thank you sir.
Well dang! I put it in diagnostics mode and must not have done it right. I started to re-watch video to see what I did wrong AND THE WASHER STARTED UP AND STARTED WORKING AGAIN! THANKS!!!
Had no idea the service manual was hidden inside. Instructions in the manual are a bit cryptic so your video helped make sense of the process.
Well played. I know this video took you a long time to make. I’ve considered making this video but you have done a much better job than I could have ever done. I bet you are going to see this video take off over the next few months.
I did a video similar to this back in January and its my #1 video so far. But it doesn't include all the extras between the manual/auto tests and recalibration... I figured that now, 9 months later, I've learned enough to do a better, more complete video on this, so I took another crack at it. There's still more I can do better at on this, but the views/watch time is better than the last one, so I'll take it.
I did the video mainly because I really liked Sears' video on the Kenmore VMW, but it just has how to get it into diagnostic mode, nothing about what all options you have, or the error codes themselves.
@@bensappliancesandjunk do you have a way I can contact you? I have some serious questions about mine!!! I have a similar model, just no agitator inside.
@@byronvontreal7046 should be on my profile for email
@@bensappliancesandjunk This is Maytag MVWC415EW.
Your videos are the best, clearest, and most complete repair videos I have found. Really excellent. Only one thing, I have my Maytag drying now as I pulled tub, hub, and cleaned everything before I put in the new hub and put it back together. What I haven't found are any mentions of grease, silicone, etc when putting the tub back over the shaft. Do you recommend any lubricant/seal grease when putting things back together? PS Your video on the recalcitrant agitator was so REAL! This is my 3rd hub replacement and it was rough getting the agitator out. Hammer, dowel, hard steel hooked probes and a WD40 soak finally worked but my wife was already pricing a new machine. (Maytag Bravos - MVWX655DW1, 8 years old. (3 hubs, 1 actuator so far)
Great job explaining this, as it’s NOT an easy thing to do for most homeowners; and even us Techs, can have some “troubles” IMO, as diff companies have diff steps for diag mode, and some still; haven’t updated the codes listing for older/current machines.....making things a bit “annoying” (which means ur in the iPhone with The Company’s Tech Support, &/or you are Googling the diag code number and seeing if get a bit on some site; heck, may even be lucky and the manufacturer has the code in their site😉).
So, again, IMO, did a fantastic job explaining diag modes/codes so that most ppl can follow along and understand if you are not a service repair tech👍🏻👍🏻
Cheers✌🏻
This was such a life saver of a video. Our washer just stopped spinning and the agitation seems to be jank but I didn't know what was up. This answered so many questions on how to procede.
Wow! I am so glad it helped you!
I just took a whole class with the nicest teach
Really good information. Thanks. My in-laws have a Maytag that will not even light up with the sense light. This last weekend, I tried to enter the diagnostic mode as you suggested but it did not seem to work. Would that be an issue with the board? I do have correct voltage testing at the terminals on the input power to the board. I think there was a small blue LED on the board but it was not lit. I will be going back today to check again since we found out it's not under warranty.
My wife said we need a new washer! Me as a auto technician. Shit I'll fix it! Found out it's the motor actuator. I replaced it didn't work🤷♂️ I didn't know technology went this far! As in having codes. I recalculated before but didn't clear the codes. By clearing the codes & recalculating it. It started working as it should! Thanks for this video my friend 👌
Thanks for posting this video. With your help I was able to find the manual and troubleshoot a bad drain pump. $30 on Amazon next day I was back up.
Not sure if I'll ever have a chance to use this, but it was fascinating to watch.
Same
I have this same washer. My washer will not work automatically. You have to manually set the knob on what ever setting you desire for it to perform the desired setting. It will not continue to perform a complete wash
Funny I think I watched this one then went back and watched the one you made awhile back. Between the 2 I was able to get my kenmore 400 taken care of. Thank you so much. I really like how you make your videos user friendly
These videos are extremely helpful. Thank you for taking the time to do them. They are so easy to follow and understand.
Wow this is honestly the best, and most helpful video I’ve ever seen!! Awesome job!
Thank you for your tutorial, Ben! It's a couple days before Christmas (2020!) and I'm having trouble with my washer. Its timing couldn't be better! Sheesh!
Hope this helps!
@@bensappliancesandjunk can you help me with my washer?
Best video on youtube about maytag diagnostics. Helped me find the faulty part. Thank you.
Thank you for this!!! I have a lot of error codes, most scary though is the motor fault. I’m no handy woman but I’ll see what I can do on my own 😰
Motor fault means the motor won't run properly. There are two main things it can be:
1) The motor is bad, or the electricity isn't getting to it. Check the connectors, and test the motor w/ a multimeter.
2) The capacitor that is underneath, near the motor is bad and its not jolting the motor w/ electricity when it needs to, to help it start. Look for physical defects (like something popped on the inside), and test w/ a multimeter.
There can be other things, but we had #2 happen on a Motor Fault at my shop a week ago. Stumped my tech and I told him "Just check the cap real fast". 5 minutes later, the machine was running fine because we replaced the $20 capacitor.
Great video. Machine would fill with water then try to run and open the lid . Removed the transmission shift modulator and cleaned the pick-ups on the commutator and on the shift motor. So far so good.
That's mine! Thank you. With your help I was able to run a diagnostic and check the error code after that. F7 E1, and the (sorry I'm not super up on nomenclature here) agitator? spins pretty freely when turning by hand, basket doesn't get up to speed and spin out. So, should I remove the wash plate? Is there a clutch type of thing (rotor?) between the basket and the wash plate?
Dang thing is only 3 years old, exactly like the one in your video but it has a glass lid. Thanks again for the videos.
It was the rotor. Thanks again my guy.
Thanks Ben, iv got the exact washer your showing, im off to the basement to try the code thing ,, thks oh by the way my maytag washer stops after washing clothes, i look in the drum and theres a pile of soaking wet clothes, but if i put the dial on drain and spin it finishes with sudsy water pumping out to the drain. Thks again from Canada. ps. i just noticed theres a rinse and drain also ,,,trying that now.
Thank you for a wonderful video with excellent explanation and not talking to fast. Very well done.
Hello - I have a Maytag Centennial Washer and just began having issues. This video is really helpful, and helped me see that I had an F7 E5 (shift actuator) error. I purchased a replacement actuator, installed, cleared the error code, re-calibrated, and it still throws the same code when I try to run it. I’ve torn it completely apart and tested each electrical component. The old actuator had a lower resistance and was out of range - new one is in range… motor tests good… capacitor tests good (50 mf)… Even inspected the splutch assembly as well as under the agitator (in the basket) and all the gears look like they are in good shape and tight… restart… same problem. Ugghhh. Any suggestions?
Did u have any stained clothes or white residue on them ever? Hear the machine making some weird noises at all on certain parts of the cycle? I think I have the same problem n I’m not even gonna go thru all u did I may just get a completely new washer
I believe my machine is the exact model u have. It has a plastic tag that says 10 year parts warranty which is a real line of BS bcuz I called the number on the back n they said no warranty at all! Maybe Home Depot will help though I doubt it
Thank you, still having problems but did manage to reset. You give very clear instructions.
thanks for the help! I was able to trouble shoot without opening up the top portion because of your video! working like a charm with the codes fixed
This helped me so much the only thing different is my buttons are yellow and I have an extra cycle. But this saved me a washer service call thanks. 👍
Thanks, Ben! Very helpful today. Boy, the timing of turning the knob into diagnostics in touchy. Too fast or too slow. Got it though.
I want to go back to the 70s and the 80s when my mom had the same washer as when I was born until I moved out in my twenties..... Crap is garbage now
American made…lasted less than 2 years😥
Thanks for the help!! I ended up changing the actuator assembly and now mine works perfect.
OK AFTER WATCHING 4 OTHER VIDEOS YOU ARE NO QUESTION THE "MASTER" OF WAHSING MACHINE VIDEOS! THANKS
My sensing light stays on and the lid lock light blinks.. that’s not under your codes ? :(
Mine too!! Cant find an answer for this 😢
Did either of you find a solution?
@@demielizabeth18 The best code I could make out was a basket fault. I changed out the shift actuator and was able to wash 2 loads. Then it did it again. I ordered a new cam replacement. When I put it down to replace it I realized the belt has frayed and come off, was also very loose to begin with. So I ordered a belt. After testing the actuator with an ohm meter it reads good. Sigh May have only initially needed a belt. While I was at it I removed the wash plate and cleaned. Inspected the tension rods because I have the jet engine sound when spinning. No rocking and moving across the floor. Just LOUD. The new belt has produced a sporadic squeaky sound in addition to water underneath. I have been confident that the bearings were shot to begin with. When I initially texted a repair shop with my symptoms, they said they didnt think that was the issue and I would have to bring my washer to Them! Did I mention that Im a stubborn, 4’ nothing, 65 yr old blonde? 😂 Tomorrow Im expecting a transmission casing. I relate this to Johnny Cash and his one piece at a time Cadillac song 🎵. Except its more than a dime. $285.00 to be precise. Haha Trial & Error, process of elimination.
@@demielizabeth18 Being the REAL ZIGGY that anything that can go wrong will, I should always go with the worst of the 5 codes that are listed. The Smart machines arent very smart or there wouldnt be 5 to 20 possible fixes!! 🤬 Needless to say my Maytag Centennial and I have been spending a lot of quality time together! I vaguely remember the elaborate space and workings of a wringer washer in action but oh how I yearn for the simplicity and reliability.
@@demielizabeth18 replaced the transmission and its working like a Boss now!!
thank you, great guide. im really curious what the problem/solution was to that particular washer, since im having the same problem with mine.
Thank you very informative. I saw my problem listed as you were going over the trouble codes, 'no fill or long fill'. Whether I wash a 1/2 dozen light dress shirts or a weeks worth of permanent press, it fills to same level, the max. Being on well water, not too bad, but if I was paying a city water bill I would need to address the issue immediately, so I haven't tried to resolve as of yet. Other than that, I think it is a good washer. It is not 'sensing correctly' on startup. Tare weight is off I assume, needs a reset back to zero if possible. Hopefully it's an easy fix. I've had the washer since 2011.
I love you 💕
Thank you so much! My brand new Centennial has been sitting idle too long. Now maybe my man will fix it for me!
Thank you
I used to have this washer. It was actually the original Maytag Centennial from 10 years ago, before they added an agitator in the place of the impeller.
It was great mechanically, but it didn’t wash clothes well at all because everything would come out only partially wet.
I have it now. Your absolutely right.
With a piddling 800rpm spin speed, I would expect clothes to still be wet.
This is one of the best explained in detail videos I’ve seen in a long time
Thank you
Thank you for this video! You saved me about 1000$ !

Best utube illustration video I've evere seen👌bravo!
Thank you ☺️ ol' grandma here fixed it with your help
This video helped me fix my identical model machine. It needed reset, and it worked fine afterwards.
Nevermind...it didn't work
Great video... i ran the error codes and have F7 E6 motor fault and f0 e5 unbalanced load... I reset them and was able to run the test and a small load to witness what was actually happening... during the wash cycle not much is happening the agitator will move but not washing the clothes (which would explain why detergent pods are not fully dissolving) and when trying to get to the spin cycle it will start spinning but will quickly stop after it gets up to speed... leaving clothes soaking wet
Try to turn agitator freely by hand. If the plate moves wildly, the hub or washplate's stripped out. Its supposed to lock & move whole tub. If it moves freely, then the washplate will get bogged down under a load + water and not actually move
@@bensappliancesandjunk thats it the hub was almost completely smooth... thanks for the help!
Video was very helpful. Easy and clear instructions. Thanks for all the time you put into this.
Thank you for this video. Idk how much you saved me, but you did. The best on the net.
Thank you very much, extremely helpful All i was, was a reset needed but I couldn't figure it out alone...thankg you once again.
Hello mine isn’t wanting to turn on how can I reset?
Thanks so much for this video. You're a godsend. It is very thorough and safety is definitely important
Hey Ben, I don't have a machine problem at this time. The main reason for my comment is to tell you your videos are great and I hope you have continued success. I just bought a new machine and was trying to research it. Anyway it looks a lot like this one. I'm guessing it's probably the same with a different name. Conservator vaw3584gw. I'm 67 yrs old and give up on finding an old style built to last machine. This one cost me 799.00 delivered. I hope I can make it last. We have laundry for 2 people. Emanuel County GA
I'm back a year later. I didn't remember making that comment. Anyway the machine works well but I needed to recalibrate it. Why does it get out of calibration?
Thank you very much, the reset worked for me and my washer is running once again.
Hands down ... best help video EVER!!!
Thank you, hands down the best tutorial about these "sensor monsters" that I've seen.(unfortunately, I've seen about all of them, lol)
Glad it helped! I have to deal with these things every day, so I've tried to come up with a reasonable explanation on modes/features. They have a LOT OF GREAT FEATURES if you know how it all works! You can test almost everything thru the diagnostic system to pinpoint the failure, but without knowing what it is, you can get lost in a second.
Thank you! This worked great to diagnose and repair my shift actuator!!
This was very helpful for me to diagnose, fix, and reset my machine! Thanks for the video!
Had this machine - absolutely hated it! Bought a Speed Queen - night and day - no more playing around with a washing machine that takes forever -30 minute washes clean clothes now!
Sadly, the Maytag brand means nothing anymore. They are TRYING to ressurrect it with their Commercial-Grade VMW that has heavy-duty components but for the past 10 years, its basically been Whirlpools-by-another-name like their Amana series.
I really, REALLY wish I could get my hands on their 5-year-warranty NO BS unit they've made recently. They must have figured out something to offer a unit like that.
Amazing video man. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Does anyone know what the blank setting is for. Is it like a quick wash? Excellent video by the way!
Thank you for your reply. You indicated the following "On the video, you can see how the sequence will flash, and then you can decode it thru all the codes shown on the screen along with their lights." I got that far, but I don't know how to decode. Also, would decoding solve the problem? I was told that it may be the Actuator that needs to be changed. Because it does not complete the fill cycle, but instead it throws the water out.
Once you get to the part where you can decode the error, rotate the dial to the right / counterclockwise and the errors will begin their flashing sequence.
The error will tell you generally why the machine is failing to to something you want it to. From there, you can single out the area that parts may need replaced.
I used the heck out of this video. I have the exact same one and this was very helpful, especially with all the codes listings etc
Glad it helped!
A very good video. I do not have the manual. Where can I get the list of error codes
Thanks homie. I was able to get back up and running thanks to you. I appreciate your time and effort!
This video is so well done and it is SO helpful man! thank you. seriously, this is just the best.
Glad it helped!
Best video ever. Had a f 421 e 1 and it was cause the rotor was locked just like it said! Fixed!
Excellent video homie !! it made it really easy for me to fix my washer 👍🏼👍🏼
This is a great video. My washer didn't have any error codes. I'm not able to figure out why it no longer fills more than 3 inches. In deep water mode it used to fill almost to the top. Now it stops shortly after filling for 2+ minutes no matter where the water level is. I've cleaned washer using the clean washer with affresh cycle and bought and used the affresh tablets. I then went through the diagnostics and automatic and manual modes. Everything work but none of them tested the fill capacity. Do you have any ideas for me to try?
Check the filters where the hoses meet the water valve at back of the washer. Likely, its clogged.
Bad ass video! Thank you! Very informative…Never knew where to start with these new washers now I do. Thanks again!!
I have this Maytag washer and normally when washing a load the lid locks , senses the load , spins a few times , then starts to fill with water to begin the wash cycle. Now the lid does not lock and is stuck in the sensing mode. I was having trouble getting in to the diagnostic mode but will keep trying and would appreciate any help on why the lid does not lock and why it is stuck in the sensing mode.
Hi, I am having the same problem with mine. Did you solve it?
I will appreciate your help. Thanks.
Sorry. No I didn’t resolve the problems. The family didn’t want to wait and just bought a new washer from the navy exchange at at discounted price
Thank you for helping me with my washing machine my landlord got used.
Lots of excellent troubleshooting info here! I just purchased the Maytag MVWC465HW and it looks like they no longer hide the service manual inside. Do you have a video that provides a list of all of the tests? Also, any way to adjust the water level? I know these machines are designed to use less water but my clothes move slowly if at all during the wash cycle. Tried the deep wash setting but didn't make much difference. Thanks!
I have a video for the Kenmore washer that has more of the options with manual/automatic testing that may be worth watching. If you can't find manual in the chassis, you may want to look for (possibly) one underneath the console where control board is.
Re: water level adjustment , that one I am unsure of other than making sure deep wash mode is active. You may want to check water pressure too, because some models use a timed fill mode and if pressure isn't high, it may not fill as much as you'd want.
@@bensappliancesandjunk Thanks for the tips, I'll dig around in the cabinet for the service guide. Our water pressure is good, but not sure how my model determines water level. I think it monitors the weight?
@@bensappliancesandjunk Found the service guide in the console. Thanks again!

Thank you thank you! I think I got my washer fixed and it might have even helped my marriage. I have to ask however, do you know the Konami code for my wife? I can't figure out how to put her in diagnostic mode....
Great vid but unfortunately it didn't solve my issue. My wife tried to use it today and told me it was taking to long to finish. I went to take a look and saw the rinse light flashing. Pryor to that a little more than a year ago, I was in the cellar and heard It turning on and off by itself, hadn't been used for a week but anyway, watched a vid and reset it but I don't remember it being your method but how ever I did it,it solved the problem until now. I tried your method today and got into diagnostic mode it started to go through the functions but when it came to rinse,it stopped and all the lights turned off. A few seconds later the door lock light came on and couldn't open it for awhile till the light went off. I tried it a few more times with the exact same results, gets to as far as rinse mode and all the diagnostic lights turn off. I tried it a couple other ways, open and close the door 6 times, turning all switches to the left which is how believe I did it the last time it acted up and it worked but now it won't even complete the diagnostics mode. When I start it,it fills and agitates but when it gets to rinse mode it stops there and just flashes.
Did you figure it out?
@@madjames2392 yup, it was the shift actuator. Picked one up at a local parts store and now she's good to go.
Dude. You just saved me so much time and headache. And money. And angry wife.

Great video thank you. I'm not really sure which code applies to my issue. The washer will start to drain and spin but cannot get up to speed. It won't spin fast enough to get rid of all the water and clothes come out still dripping wet. Any suggestions?
Is it not spinning at all, or spinning very slowly?
@@bensappliancesandjunk it will spin slowly like it's beginning a normal spin cycle then it will try to get faster and the washer starts to shake really hard then it slows back down and tries again a few times before signaling that it's done with the load
@@mackenziemcpherson8801 unbalanced load. Its trying to get to speed for high speed spin, bounces around and errors out. Find out why its banging around - if its unlevel, too many clothes, or needs new suspension rods.
This is a great video and has really helped me.
I’m having a particular problem with a Maytag Commercial Technology that I can’t seem to fix and I feel confident that you could.
Symptom: slight fill, then attempts to agitate. Agitation is weak, and there is a clicking sound as it attempts to shift back and forth.
Code: F5 E3
I replaced the lid lock and cleared code. The problem still presented, however the code did not, and no other codes appeared. As per another video of yours, I inspected the splutch which appeared loose. I replaced it, making sure to properly connect the shifter and not overnighten the nut. The problem persists. I am at a loss.
I am interested in what your assessment is! Thank you again for a great video.
Back and forth when it agitates, or when it attempts to shift from agitate to spin?
If it clicks when in agitation, that sounds like the hub, just below the wash plate, is stripping out and its clicking on the worn-out splines thus creating a weak agitation. It wouldn't cause codes, since its not something that can be electrically verified. If you take plate off, look at hub/ect. If not that, it'd likely be a capacitor.
@@bensappliancesandjunk Thank you for getting back to me. The clicking sound presents during start up, loudly, 4 times. Then during agitation there is minimal agitation and clicks are between each change in rotation during agitation. I I’ll inspect the hub. Is that accessed by removing the agitator itself or dropped down from underneath? Thank you again for your quick and in depth reply! Please send me a Venmo link or otherwise so that I can compensate you for your time.
Update: after inspection, the hub teeth look ok. I see no obvious sign of stripping and it still has firm resistance on that spindle. I will be checking the cap next.
I should mention my background is in construction, and this my personal washer, I’m not an appliance tech.
Awesome video!! Great job. Awesome information
What a great find. I'm subscribed and thank you!
Exceptionally thorough instructional video! Thx
Hope it helped!
Great to find this channel, thanks for the help!👍
Thank you for the description.
However I couldn't find out how to detect and clear the small object stuck on somewhere.
A penny got stuck in early time, a technician came and took it out quickly like a magic that time (sorry I wasn't watching carefully then).
Now same way the machine stopped running after completed the previous whole cycle. I found about 3/8" zipper handle is missing from my vest from the previous wash. I believe it is the problem. How can I get it out?
It depends on where it may have wound up. I would check the water pump underneath, as many items like to jam themselves inside the pump housing. There is likely water in there, so you must have electricity off. You then would remove the rubber hoses, then take pump off to inspect it, and the tub as well.
I plan on doing a video in the near future with another machine like this showing all of the exact steps to take the pump off to clean & inspect it.
Great video!! I still can't figure out what is wrong with my washer. It will sense the load and wash it but when it's time for the rise cycle it does nothing. It's stops at the wash cycle. I did notice that the lid lock light isn't on. I'm not sure If this has something to do with it but I assumed that if the lid wound't lock it wouldn't wash either.
Yeah, I have to switch to drain myself. This only worked for so long before other things went wrong and now I have to get a new one
