those things have Detroit diesel engines in them. Detroit's are LOUD so if the engine is connected to that tiny crane cab, you might want some hearing protection
Excellent video! Be careful with those brake pedals in the upper cab, if you kick a brake pedal off the hook ball is coming down. Not good for anyone underneath.
These are the types of Cranes I ran Chris... ✅ Looks like the Carolina Stone Setting Co, yard in Morrisville by the RDU airport on Highway 54 with boom section lying everywhere, now though they mostly have all Hydraulic boom cranes since I left for Floo’rita 15 years ago... 👍🙄😎
For feet is brakes , two left sticks are hoist and boom, right onefor turning, wheels with teeth on sticks turn when cable is moving. Sticks gears, low, high and for both faster and lover.
yeah i really enjoyed operating that crane. it was a pleasure. me and that crane was a good team. we put in some long hours. the "beast" has a new engine cause the last one was on it's last leg but we made it through many jobs of it smokin like a chimney. lol but it never quit. but dielco did an overhaul on it and it's all new in the engine compartment. but the bad part is i never got to operate it with the new upgrade. a bummer

The brakes controlled via direct mechanical system? Or air in receivers can disengage the brake?

@trundeed1 haha Glad you got to see it then! Man that was a tight cab, very nice crane tho
Those old American conventional cranes are very smooth. I would take those over a new triple2 any day.
@trundeed1 Cool deal. this was at the Ritchie Brothers Auction in vegas back in march of this year.
