In my head canon Peter actually buys a spandex suit online that actually already looks like almost the final suit, honeycomb pattern and everything. What I think he just did himself was the web pattern, mask, logo and the boots where he took his running shoes and put the soles on them. I don't think Peter actually made the honeycomb pattern himself, because he was already looking at online pics of spandex suits and some of them had that kinda texture to them, so suspension of disbelief, he bought a premade red and blue spandex suit with the honeycomb patterns then he made the mask with the same material and then put sunglasses on it for the lenses and then he silk screened the spider logos onto the suit and made the web patterns.
