I think it would be hilarious if, instead of being banned, cheaters would permanently be matched up against other cheaters only.
I like it when games do something to troll cheaters.
lichess does that. Why do you think most of the serious players go to lichess to play chess? Better everything, and treatment of cheaters is not an exception.

As a cheater i appreciate levy for giving us tips to follow while cheating. Like no consistent time durations, dont always play best moves, lose a game once in a while, etc.

This was a turmoil of emotions: embarassement, hilarity, astonishment... interesting. If so many cheaters play against each other it means that it is in fact a war of bots through humans by proxy. So many social and philosophical implications. I feel like I'm witnessing what I red once in a '50 paperback dystopian novel.
This is what the world will be. Everyone fighting with AI/engines controlling their thoughts. Just the temporary physical vessel for them.
It's more like AI will be blended into humanity. In the future children will literally be implanted with a newborn AI at birth so it can grow with them while supercharging their development and providing perfect memory and limitless access to information and entertainment. There will be no difference between Humanity and AI.
The cyborg race is inevitably.
So true - we will be dealing with AI's in every aspect of life very soon.
They could be identifying the cheaters and moving them into the cheater player pools to play against themselves, then banning them. Helps a bit to water their time

Tips Levy has given to all cheaters so far:
- Don't spend the same amount of time per move
- Actually be somewhat decent at chess without the engine
- Don't take 4 seconds to recapture a free piece
- Alternate between your own move and engine moves (That's why you have to be decent at chess outside of the engine)
- Make sound, common sense moves that you would make without the engine
- Intentionally make mistakes/blunders/misses that don't make you outright lose but make you lose your advantage/let your opponent counterplay

Cheating in chess is like playing chess with the amount of thought people put into it. Seems kind of pointless when you think of it like that.

I am playing at about 800, and the reality is that everything is decided by blunders ... who blunders badly first. The only cheat a cheater needs is just a blunder-checker. I think I have run into a few of these, but it's subtle and hard to be sure.
You could make an entire series about Cheater 2, that bot was insane 😂

my favourite irony about this is that the cheaters are playing all these mystifying moves and will never know why they're playing them because they've never played logical moves and thus can't distinguish between a cpu's gibberish and something with a thread of logic to it.

There is no proof that they were cheating. You can’t detect it from 1-2 game sample.

Silly me, I was looking for illegal moves. Didn't think about online chess and having Magnus play for them. But I've only been watching this stuff for a couple months...mostly for the comedy content and now for the amazing championship match.
