Mad respect from a crew of cold-water Baltic Surfers in Poland. This wave looks heavy, tumultous and has a shifting peak/take-off. Hats off to the locals, aloha from Central Europe!

I used to surf this spot and Crons so much when I lived in Sonoma County prior to moving to Encinitas in 2001, and it's no joke super sketch. Cold, rips, sharky, and the locals don't put up with barns. Much respect and love for this place. I may be back someday to get a sesh in, but I may choose a smaller day haha!

If you live in Encinitas you might know a one time bay area surfer, he's in North County, Oceanside to be specific. He's surfs Cardiff Reef a lot. His name is Marcelo, I won't mention his last name here.

Calm down haters it's a short video inside a bay of a spot where the waves are breaking from every direction, check it out some waves are breaking literally 90 degrees from how others break, plus an insane current due to the placement of the spot and an inconsistent takeoff point. And yeah these are just normal people. But nice job all the professional surf watchers in the comments lmao. Watched a few WSL contests and think they understand how to surf heh

To your defense, unless anyone has ever surfed a heavy current and refracting waves, it’s a crap shoot on where to line up to and if you wanted to line up there, the current keeps you away. Bad placement will suck you out to sea.

SSF in the house! The bay area has the best surfing spots! From Mavericks to Linda Mar to Ocean Beach to The Jetty to Dunes Beach to The Golden Gate To Montara To Rockaway and to Santa Cruz out of the way way! PS Their is a secret spot inside the SF bay that breaks at very high tides with 2 sometimes 3 ft faces and endless lefts somewhere between San Mateo and Redwood City. The water is warm to and no their are no waves at Coyote Point.

I wouldn't surf this in a million years, I've only been surfing 15 months. My question is: how dangerous are the currents? Like, if you are out there and just get exhausted or maybe dislocate a shoulder, what happens to you? Do you get pulled out to the shipping channel and eventually pulled out to sea? Or does the rip eventually stop? And does that happen very often?
I ask because, when it's a choppy day and the tide is going out, it often feels like I'm going to get sucked out to sea and it's kinda scary. This seems like my worst nightmare. Is it that bad? Or just a bit tougher than usual?
And yes, I'm not even mentioning the cold, the rocks, the sharks or Godzilla. Those alone would make it a big pile of nope.

When I used to surf here we used to all take off on top of or behind rhino. That's the rock that keeps popping up that no one is taking off from. Cool vid

Not discrediting any guys surfing out there but I failed to see one person make the critical bowl section. It's a rather steep wave sort of like Newport in SoCal.
