Olly over softop at 8:29 is amazing.
That big rock in the middle of the break gives me anxiety lol
Someone needs to get rid of it. Pull into the Barrel of the day and then find that huge thing sitting in the middle of the barrel....
Even the rocks have teeth in the red triangle
I guess thats why the lineup is avoiding the big sets . Its is makeable. but if you dont you wont be happy . I am surprised . There is always one kook who will give it a go .
Is that huge rock what pie maker Haruwn Wesley hit while boogie boarding, and later died from his injuries? I agree with getl0st. Get rid of it.
If you want to be a cold water surfer, you got to deal with a few obstacle like rocks.
Cold Water, Strong currents, Full of Sharks and rocks on the Breaking point.. seems to be fun
🤣
totally agree 🤣
And water that look like shit....also pollued from treasure iland radioactive shit
Really sharks in there?
@@Gitochi aight ..
Slabbier and feeling the reef way more than I remember it as a youth. This video makes it look fun almost lol
Watching a surfer at this spot as a child inspired me to start surfing. Such an epic spot and setting.
Sounds awesome 😎
ahhhh, Im a surfer from Alaska and this is becoming a wave i wanna surf one day. Such a awesome location.
I miss so much surfing...now I live far away from the coastline... it's sad 😭... enjoy this lovely sport guys.... Merry Christmas ⛄🎄
Good news is the ocean will always be there for ya! 🤙😎
The second time i ever surfed here i got sucked out ans slammed into the boneyards rocks. Fun spot. Friendly locals too!
I think I can sense your sarcasm about locals 🤣
@@NorCalSurfer and here I thought he was serious 😂
@@cesarmayorga8257 santa cruz and sf is more brutal than kauai oahu or san diego. Its actually mind blowing how territorial they get considering the populations surfing those point breaks
@@AuRowe I’ve only ever surfed in SD everyone is really chill down here haha
@@cesarmayorga8257 ye thats what I mean from carlsbad
8:29 this guys got hops
No doubt!
Surfed there once about 25 years ago. Was fun but I remember it seemed like endless paddling with the tide ripping out from the bay.
Currents can definitely be no joke
looks like another typical overcrowded Cali surfspot now .... thank you Surfline ....
Hopefully, one day I can surf this spot! This definitely on my to do list.
you can find that left in plenty of warm waters
@@od3233 True, I live in Hawaii and I surf amazing lefts all the time. But, being able to catch a wave under the golden gate bridge is totally something different.
No...stay away, we don't need anymore tourists here until the pandemic is over. Besides, they closed the road and it's off limits now.
@@ww2remembered983 I wasn't planning on surfing this break anytime soon. So, chill out with the whole we don't need anymore tourist. It's just one of those waves that I would love to surf, when the time is right.
@@ww2remembered983 hahaha ur real funny
This looks much more fun than triple overhead OB.
O.B. was insane with a good swell. Even if you were in shape, be prepared for a proper beat down just getting out past the shore break. Good times indeed. And your reward was the best breakfast ever at John's O.B. cafe on Sloat. Best omelettes ever...R.I.P. John's....
@@geofffafenrodt5139 I go out here in Santa Barbara when it gets big for us. Even then I usually get a proper beat down. OB looks like a whole other level! My gun out here is 6'2." I think I'd need to add another foot before even paddling out in OB! The break under the bridge however looks very ripable on a my 5'9" Roberts VLAD.

@@nonow1353 I’m not a small guy. I’d take my chances ;)
@@wesleyturner1979argh!
Having lived in sf I never new that to be a surfing spot. Way to extreem for my boogie board skills. And super cold water. Good job capturing that and the comments keeping it real with reports of deaths here as well. It was always too dangerous for me.
Important to know your limits
My sentiments exactly
...and your ocasional confused great white thinking you a sea lion in those murky waters. SFciscans always with their stupid answers: "there are no whites 'cause the bay's fresh water". Yeah, right! As if 400 million years of evolution won't give them the capability. Thanks but no thanks.
Extreme for boogie board ?? The wave Is average, it's looks cool for the bridge, but the wave itself, pretty average. Not a big deal, so go there !
@@matiasmirandaarrredondo8231 the currents move fast under the bridge, it’s rocky and it’s one of those waves that look tasty from the beach but ruthless when you’re out there pal
Love it when the one guy ollies the long board!
🙏
I've been up on the bridge before, but you get a real appreciation for the rock face sidewalls when you're down low like this. Very cool
😎🤙
Crazy good video!
Beautiful surfing scenes with some really good waves.
That surfer ollied that blueish-green board out of survival at 8:27
I just subscribed with all notifications.
🙏🙏🙏🤙
Wave of the day at 8:26 !
Wow, I've never seen anyone bunny hop a surfboard before
haha
Looks sketchy, i learned to surf at Stinson. But alas many years ago i moved inland and havent it so very very long. The surf under the bridge looks like alot of work for little pay off
What a spot! Can understand why it’s so crowded. Locals kinda have a tough situation here😅
Because all the novices in the world have been waiting to get good enough to surf it. There not. They will run right over you without any control of there board. Place is a disaster waiting to happen. Surfed it for 20 plus years on and off and it never changes. Bro your not missing shit but a risky situation.
That’s a pretty big bridge!!
Heard that there's a current that if you're too deep could take you to open ocean. Is that right? May be that's the reason no one is that deep?
My father, in the early 1920's, would row out to 'under-the-GG. Once, however, the tide/current sucked him out beyond the Gate, and it took him 6 hours to get back to Chrissi-Field area. All true. I myself, surfed Fort Point back in 1966-67. Had some good waves, while keeping close eye on the rocks. Since it was still military property at the time, the MP's would come down and yell through their bullhorns at us to come out. I just flipped them off. They would eventually drive away.
@@spsp8303 . Construction on the bridge began in 1933.
@@mitseraffej5812 ...what is it that you question, or imply? specifics are needed.
Sure, when the tide is going out it is like paddling up river. Might as well paddle to Ocean Beach if you get caught in that current 😂
@@spsp8303 . Was wondering if your date of the 1920s was wrong or did your father row out to that position in the harbour before the bridge was there.
One time when i was a kid i saw a shark swollow a duck whole right next to the uss hornet on a school field trip not far from there
Heavy!!
Best GGB footage I've ever seen.
🙏
8:31 jumps over longboard
Melbourne fl old school viewer/ surfer here (& a goofy footer) this is the novelty break of novelties, hopefully soon we get this place captured when it's "on point"/ firing on all "cylinders" ... Great footage though, not knocking your efforts. 👊

nice work.your putting out some great footage lately.keep it up
Thanks, will do!
Wave looks fun, that rip current looks sketchy, also that big dry rock..
Trip seeing them in the shadow of the bridge
that's some serious water! Current looks like its absolutely ripping
Just about

Not one of the place we considered back in the 60s, wonder why not. It’s just off Ft. Point. New saw it this big.
sounds like a geiger counter,...radiation
Just finished some surf at OB... much safer then Fort Point IMO and a variety of great waves today @ 3-5’
Good stuff!
@@NorCalSurfer Forgot to add... this was my 1st time to surf at OB 😬 as I was working at SFU just 5-10 minutes away! . I played it cautiously but I know I will be back. These breaks are beautiful 🤙🏻
A local waterman lost his life surfing here last week. So if you don't know where all the rocks are, stay away. As if you'd isolate for the pandemic anyway.
I'm from New York and ride soft tops once a month, when should I go?
That’s 😞
@@jacklucas4665 immediately
@@nickc3856 I'm kidding, we do get some dry rocks here in NY, but I usually stay away because the waves are pretty poor quality.
only one way to find out where the rocks are

Haha I didn't know it was in that
One of the coolest spots in the world for sure!

Always so happy to see when you upload love all your vids. yew
More to come!
How is the great white shark situation there??
They're around!
Looks gnarly AF in so many ways jeebuz
For sure!
This wave looks so fun and mellow compared to my local break (Black Beach)
Sketchily fun wave.. thanks for sharing🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼

Soo many perfect waves going unridden, I need to get out there soon
That lovely frigid water contains large sharks.
Just Sayin.
For sure
I had no idea there were waves this big near the bridge dang
🤙😎
Brrrrr! I love this wave. Sketchy
Do swells make it further into the bay anywhere?
still never seen a wave at ft point that made me want to surf there!
🤣
Looks like such a fun wave, is it consistent or a once in a year kind of thing??
Bucket list spot for suree
Is the point that localized? I’m a bodyboarder and this spot is on my bucket list!
Kinda but not really. If you come here just like any place just be sure to show respect and you shouldn't have a problem
@@tpagano78 yew!
I agree.. going there on my bucket list too.
@@NorCalSurfer "Show respect" is code for "you're not getting any waves over waist high...or you will be wasted".
It’s mad how dem boi BUILDENING giant concrete basses up in the water. Also, America is a mucho beautiful place deya, wagwan the cliff on the other side.
Ahhhh amazing waves I always watch amazed riding the heavy waves with heavy music like Delta Parole or with relaxing music videos in background. If crazy like then always heavy tho
🤙
How big does the open ocean swell need to be for this place to work? My few trips to SF in the winter I’ve never seen it more than a lazy 1 foot.
Any decent swell gets in there, the swell wraps around the point making it rideable.
Not any decent swell, but a lot of them. Very tide sensitive. Explore it when tides are quite low and you may figure out some of the swell window. Tides also come into play with currents, and those matter also. At the wrong tide, you can get ripped right out the gate and have to paddle to shore on the other side of the bridge.
Looks bloody cold!!
Definitely is!
Must real fun w the crowd and one peak
🤣
we had some waist high surf for 3 hours yesterday and I missed it
Some of those waves start peaking and then when I think it's about to curl, it just crumbles... but still fun surf! Too cold for me, though! :D
8:29 Absolute legend
💯
Ben Gravy should have been out there. This is the ultimate novelty wave!

Water temps are currently a chilly low-mid 50's (Fahrenheit)
There is wave at this place ??
Is there spots on the Marin side along the outside or inside of the bridge??
Mystooooo wedges shhhhh
Water is too deep on the other side for a proper wave to form. Great for fishing tho
Not as dangerous as building the last span of that bridge, but awesome surfing!
🤣
A surfer literally died there yesterday. Wave smashed him against the rocks

Wow the guy at 8:30 looks like he is almost trying to throw his board in front of the guy surfing.
The guy handled it like a champ.
A lot of entitled assholes these days....pandemic?? Fuck that, I don't care about anyone but myself....
Sure looks like it. I don't think I've ever surfed this spot without seeing some aggression in the water, usually outright fights or at least the threat of one, always at least two on one. The locals here are the biggest assholes I've ever seen in the water. They make Santa Cruz seem friendly.
Do you guys even surf? Dude clearly bailed off his board to avoid the surfer taking the wave. 😑
@@ratchet780 20 year surfer here including a bunch of times at this place. I'd put it at 50/50. And if he was bailing that was the most outrageous incompetent kook move I've ever seen. I think it's very possible he was doing an "oopsie" dick move just to vibe the guy. And there's vibes to spare at this spot, especially when it's this crowded and good.
Is it rideable anywhere else around the bridge or the other side of bridge? Has that been attempted to be surfed?
The outside of the bridge breaks when the westerly swells get large, and it is a much better, much bigger, wave.
One of the coolest waves in the world
The ride at 8:26 was sick as!!!!
The kook on the blue longboard that keeps ditching his board towards riders deserves a welcoming slap on the face.
once again, powerviolence is the best soundtrack to listen to while watching this. Infest 'slave' is providing the tunes
