- Bishop Waltham Palace was once one of the finest and splendid residences of the Bishops of Winchester. It would have been a very important Palace but during the Civil War, it was all but destroyed. Join us for a walk around the ruins and some history about that buildings and life here.

Your videos provide a much better understanding because you present
it in manageable bites.

Excellent choice of music. Poking around old ruins is one of my favorite things, but you hit all the marks with your tours of scenic spots, historic homes, fantastic gardens, and cozy villages. You have provided such great content over the last year, at a time when many people still could not travel. On many a blazing California day, when fires were burning up north, I could search out a brisk walk by the sea, an adventure on a foggy moor, or a rainy day visit to one of Jane Austen's haunts, and forget about reality for twenty minutes. I found one, here in Germany and I think I absolutely have to indulge! I reckon I‘ll be a bit nervous about sleeping in a place with so much history, though! I’m a sensible adult until the lights go out…!

Such a shame that these beautiful, ancient buildings were deliberately destroyed during the civil war. Same here in Dorset, impressive Corfe Castle was blown up during the same war. Otherwise it would have still been relatively intact. I imagine the same with this Palace.
