This is a two-wire trellis, with a wire running along the top of the trellis poles and another running halfway up. You can train a vine to either one. The choice is yours, and depends on a few factors, including the type of vine you are growing. You can grow your cordon on the top wire, and let the vines hang down, or train your cordon to the lower wire and tie the vines up to the top wire.

At 3:44, do you have another wire of your trellis running above the one the cordon is growing on? If so, is that there to support the canes?
Thanks. I learned a lot from your video.

@bullittkid Cordons may last for years. If one dies or is damaged, you simply train a new one from a healthy shoot.

Mine go over my hobbit house. Huge. The last couple years. The grapes and the leaves have started to dry up the last couple years. When can I treat them and with and can I cut them way back right now?

Best time to prune is late winter or early spring. without pruning, the vines get overgrown and that leads to disease problems.

@@mnsmallfarm I usually prune them in February. They are so overgrown this year. Can I prune some now and some in February. What do I spray on them before they bud so they don't get bugs.?

@@colleenwesterberg6980 yes you can prune now and later. Bugs are too big a topic to get into. Suggest u find some books on basic grapegrowing, or take some samples into your nearest University , Extension office. (Usually under county government website)
