Also forgot to mention, if you drain the battery it and recharge it it will show 4 bars, but not for long. It will go back to just showing 3 bars in a few hours.

Try to charge it on the slow Makita charger. ie. DC18SD, it may be charged fully.

My batteries haven't worked right out of the box! Purchased today and brought home to immediately begin charging and I've had nothing but 4 red bars on both batteries and the saw's indicator. Charger shows solid green for both.
Really disappointing - even if replacement is relatively easy, I needed to use the tool today.

Nice to know about the date code.I never knew that nor ever mentioned that I’ve seen till now.I had a 2 year old 8ah dewalt replaced just by calling them.I think two rows of bats quit charging and wouldn’t jump like you mentioned.I heard if a Makita bat didn’t go lower than 3 bars then charged a charge wouldn’t be counted.Yah they know how many times a bat is charged.lol Some times I don’t think we need things to be so smart 😆

after disemble ... all similar voltage at 3.9v each group .. hours to charge fully using manual charging using power supply .. but they all OK .. but it still says they were fully charged on my makita charger ? runtime on mower very low .... great when i dissemble andbring to full charge manually doing each group .. but that is stupid ?! WHY ? is what i am enquiring

and .. if u inverse the charger .. the contacts remain cleaner for longer and better charging consistency ..cheers
