This is superb, love the minimalist style and I tie a silver stoat in the same manner, sliver patriot double, couple of small JC eyes and a turn or two black hen. Superb for summer salmon and seatrout. Btw: I checked out your podcast, “Ireland on the Fly” absolutely fascinating. Kinda started out tying the same way as a youngster, next door neighbour gave me his old 9ft 5:23 glass fibre rig and half a dozen flies and gave me an hour in his vice. But like you said showed me the basic essentials, attaching a thread, tying in body materials, dubbing, setting a wing, turning a hackle and a whip finish. And that set me right up. Also I get where your’e coming from regarding using flies tied by others, I rarely use them. When I started SWFF, I bought beautifully tied clousers and deceivers from Orvis, they haven’t had a swim in over ten years 😂
It is exactly like many of my invented flies, love it. Last year, a sparrow hawk flew into a neighbour's conservatory window and killed itself. I tied a couple of flies with that. I called it the "sparrow hawk ian tied" or shit for short. Nice to see you back Ryan.
