    I don’t claim to be anything like the tier you are, but I’ve been doing it a long time. I would catch in the rib (and the tinsel for that matter) and follow it with the thread nearly up to the eye before removing the waste. That way I don’t get that awkward step, or steep slope for the hackle to slide down, and the turns lay more comfortably against each other.
    Great fly btw, and beautifully tied.

    Very nice mate and as you know I like my bucktail, although I'm going to have to rummage through a bag of capes I seldom use, if not I'll dye a few grey feathers.

      Not to many folk will carry grey feathers chum but if you tie may fly patterns they come in handy 👍🏻👍🏻
