Well, now the P40 pro with EMUI12 is a beast, huawei will not let ther flagship to die like that, but in over all : those phones are beasts.

nice review, I liked the way you described the mate 30camera as better only because it was older and received software upgrades, other reviewers would just smash the p40 camera.

Great comparison, thanks Linus. I'm currently using a Mate 30 Pro and all the firmware updates I've received on it over the past months have really made it a tough phone to beat as you could say the software for it has been fully matured by now. I suspect it'll be a bigger upgrade over the P30P but you video has been very informative and helpful!

what software updates, cause i sold mine last week with a december security patch!!that is why i sold it, a bunch of mid range huawei get march security update while i wait from december with a mate 30 pro!!unacceptable!
@@adriantanase80 My M30P is currently on 10.0.0.205 with February 2020 Android security patches. I always managed to get the latest updates through Huawei's "HiCare" app by changing the country to China, which would then allow me to download the latest updates. Mine's not even the 5G version either - it's the 4G LTE one. Doing the regular check under the "Settings --> About" page rarely got me anything but this method recommended by XDA community members always got me the latest one, every time.

P30 Pro is literally half the price in many areas and is still an allrounder (also has many design choices). Apart from that it still has Google support.
The P40 Pro is of course a better phone, but the P30 Pro has an extremely fair price for what you get.
The best phone in my opinion will be the one you can afford as all these are amazing phones.
I think the phone industry has stalled and improvements/changes will be incremental rather than drastic.

@@kariossyr6018 It is upgradable to Android 10 and will be to Android 11 as well. It will load update after update when you first have it though, but that's not too bad.
It still runs with Google services.
The P30 Pro costs around 530-550€. Alternatives are: Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro (better rear camera, but worse front camera and worse in all different areas, but a solid phone), Poco F2 Pro (much better performance, all screen and nice camera, but not as good as the P30 Pro). Imo the P30 Pro is the best choice for the price you get it at. It feels more like a flagship (IP68 rating, build quality, overall performamce) as it used to be Huawei's flagship as well.
If there was a periscope lens on the Mate or at least 90Hz screen it would be the way to go for everyone cause of the display and overall design . But these two features are a deal breaker for sure .
mate has 3x optical zoom though, what do you mean by not having periscope?

That really depends on what features matter to you most.
Different companies/phones excel at different features.
LG: Quad DAC, dual-screen phones. Brightness KING of IPS LCD displays (LG G7 ThinQ).
Google: Gcam/Night Mode.
Asus: ROG Phone III has 160Hz (yes I said 160Hz and not 144Hz), front firing stereo speakers. UFS 3.1 storage, 512GB ROM with 16GB of RAM, 6,000mAh battery.
Xiaomi: Black Shark 3 Pro is 7.1-inches at 1440p with a 5,000mAh battery but only 90Hz.
Samsung: Periscope zoom cameras, Night Mode, Foldable technology. S-Pen with 9ms latency.
Huawei: Has a 7.2-inch Mate 20 X with built-in Google Services prior to the May 16th 2019 ban. P40 Pro has amazing Night Mode performance.
Oppo: Amazing cameras and front pop-up cameras for an all-screen display.
I just don't like both of them ditch stereo speakers.I have the Mate 20 Pro with stereo speakers and like it. If Huawei doesn't provide stereo speakers on the Mate 40 Pro, I'll switch to another brand.

Well, this is what Huawei told initially... They mentioned that 40W was compatible with both P40 Pro and the Plus.
P40 pro plus is the only one that can charge at 40w wireless. P40 pro just 27w
I just bought p40 not pro and i can't be happier, it's very light , very compact, same camera as p40 pro and much cheaper price, yes it does not has autofocus on selfie but hey i don't do selfie anyway, it is a perfect phone trust me you won't regret buying it
