Nice to see a TH-camr from Hong Kong. I went from iPhone 6plus to huawei mate 10 pro and I love it so much that I don’t think I can even move back to iOS phones. I know how you feel about GPS not being preinstalled on the new huawei phones and that frustrates me a lot too.

In my opinion, the p40 pro is not getting the attention it deserves from a lot of youtubers because it has no google services. Thanks again and stay safe! Greetings from London. Cheers, Luis

You're right Ben, Google Play is going to be main deciding factor for most people in buying the p40 pro or any recent Huawei/Honor devices. The Huawei app gallery still cannot replicate the apps in Google Play. I for sure don't want to pay so much for a phone only to download apps from 3rd party stores. This phone will however do very well in China as they don't use Google Play. Yes, the cameras do look awesome though.

    • @SDav21
      @SDav21 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

There was an article that said Google may soon start adding its apps on the App Gallery. The ban was against using GMS but the actual apps (running on HMS) should be fine. So Google can still use the app gallery but then they need to come on board to be willing to develop it for HMS core. If they can do it for Apple's ios they can do it for Huawei. You can still access Google stuff on a website. So an app is then possible just using HMS. Google should just do it still since the apps then reach a wider audience.

Your right, US monopolies are scary.
Google took GMS from Turkey(an entire country!) because they didn’t want to pay the fine for anticompetitive behaviour.
They are also working on a law that allows the us to decide to whom and how much every chip manufacturing company on the world using US equipment(and that’s everybody!)
    is allowed to sell.
They can completely control foreign companies that way.

But I wouldn't trust a government that blocks any kind of social media because they don't want people to know the truth or communicate with each other freely. I personally couldn't imagine living in that kind of society. If someone made a comment to the president of China that person would probably disappear or be killed or even imprisoned. But the news media here can make fun of the president in belittle him and they have the right to because it's called freedom of speech. A lot of people don't like the USA and I can say that probably goes for a lot of other countries but something we have that a lot of other countries don't have is a constitution with states we have freedom of speech in a right to bear arms. I'll take that any day over a communist or socialist government.

Donald Trump met with the Queen of England, and he asked her, "Your Majesty, how do you run such an efficient government? Are there any tips you can give me?"
"Well," replied the Queen, "the most important thing is to surround yourself with intelligent people."
Trump frowned, and then asked, "But how do I know the people around you are really intelligent?"
The Queen took a sip of tea. "Oh, that's easy; you just ask them to answer an intelligent riddle."
The Queen pushed a button on her intercom. "Please send Boris Johnson in here, would you?"
The Prime Minster walked into the room and said, "Yes, Your Majesty?"
The Queen smiled and said, "Answer me this, if you would, Boris. Your mother and father have a child. It is not your brother and it is not your sister. Who is it?"
Without pausing for a moment, he answered, "That would be me."
"Yes! Very good," said the Queen.
Trump went back home to ask Mike Pence the same question. “ Mike, answer this for me. Your mother and your father have a child. It's not your brother and it's not your sister. Who is it?"
"I'm not sure," said Pence. "Let me get back to you on that one." He went to his advisers and asked everyone, but none could give him an answer.
Finally, Pence ran in to his friend Jack Murphy in a restaurant the next night. Pence asked, "Jack, can you answer this for me? Your mother and father have a child and it's not your brother or your sister. Who is it?"
Jack Murphy answered right back, "That's easy, it's me!"
    Pence smiled, and said, "Thanks!"
Pence then went back to speak with Trump. "Say, I did some research and I have the answer to that riddle: It's my friend Jack Murphy!"
Trump got up, stomped over to Pence, and angrily yelled, "No, you idiot! It's Boris Johnson!"

staroceanxc I don’t think it’s brainlessly bashing - I’ve heard this advantage of swiping from the edge of the screen for other phones and products from other reviewers.
Personally (as the owner of a phone with a curved screen) I don’t find it advantageous for swiping and I would prefer if we went back to flat screens again, as I find using apps like TH-cam a pain when a screen is too curved. It’s hard to pick up and put down your phone without accidentally activating UI elements on the screen when the glass is curved. Add to this that decent curved screen protectors are expensive and harder to fit than a glass screen protector for a flat screen, and the displays themselves are also more expensive to replace.

I don't suggest the people who do not live in China mainland buy the P40 series, because it doesn't have GMS, and the HMS is too new. But you can wait to buy Mate40 or P50 series, maybe the HMS will be more powerful.

Now every time I revisit my old phone, I was like man.. So slow. Thumbs up for Huawei. P40 will be a good choice. I wait for the next Mate series to step up with the Huawei experience. Peace.

I like the design. Large hole cutouts (and notches). are unfortunately still necessary for Face ID detection. Pop up cams just aren’t practical. They’re slower, make the phone non- water resistant and if they break, you’ll spend a ton getting it fixed.
