I'm in China right now, and i have used Mate30 pro 5G version for a month. Google services can be easily installed on Huawei's phone because many people post blogs to teach you how to install Google framework, this process can be done in less than 30 minutes. I can use Google Play store, TH-cam, etc on this phone. So don't let the software be the reason to stop you from buying the phone, it does can be solved easily. Actually I have used iPhone for many years, and I'm a loyal Apple fan, I use iPad, MacBook Pro. However, I had this Mate30 pro by chance and now I can't leave it off my hands. It has amazing screen and camera, and adds some new technology. Nevertheless, it does have some drawbacks, like it is easy to dust around the camera and does not have some apps in iOS but that is common for Android phones. Plus, the 5G version is really fast if you have 5G station nearby. So my conclusion is that this is one amazing Android phone, even if you are a iPhone user who want to buy a new phone, you can still try this one, and you will not feel regretted.

In huawei's case the Mate30 fails Safety Net by default and still will after installing framework.since your still running Huawei's modified Google-less software no matter what Funny how you automatically assumed this i something some politic said when this has already been proven by reviewers.

Best phone you should buy! Just purchased this phone yesterday and I am simply amazed at the quality of the phone. Not to say that the camera is nothing short of stunning. It is sad when our lives are controlled by a company like Google and we feel that something is not worth it without the Google. First off, it is a phone and does that admirably, second it is a camera and exceeds in that very admirably. That is why I bought it, not for Google, but because it is simply the best phone and camera I have ever owned in a mobile package...
I bought one from AliExpress and I still haven't even gotten a shipping notification... That was back in November.... Edit: if you're wondering why I'd buy a huawei being a US resident, it's because I was interested in reviewing it. But I am not sure if I'll get to now.

I'm typing this on a Mate 30 pro with Google apps. It's trivial to get it, takes about 7 min. The only limitations are that you can activate Google assistant by voice, can't use a recent version of Netflix (you have to use an older version with no download option). Everything else works perfectly so if you don't mind spendibg 10 min following a TH-cam tutorial I highly recommend this phone, it's amazing.
It used to be a huge factor serval years ago but since soc are getting incredibly efficient it doesn't matter anymore(thanks to better GPUs and video prossesors they didn't even support 1440 four years ago properly)
I mean, I think it would be a great cross-over. Marques is a bit of a car guy with a sweet Tesla. Doug should get the least tech-y car he can find and have MKB review it. I just bought the mate 30 pro 1 week ago and was able to load anything I want, including google play/map, etc. smoothly. I think you can change your title to "Best Phone You Can Buy!"
For people who got a huawei phone: When you got no google play, just download aptoide (the apk from their website is safe), from there you can: download most apps / download the google play services. I can't garantee the google play services will 100% work, but even if it doesn't work you can access all the google play apps you'd need from aptoide. That's an old trick I used to install modern apps when my android phone was outdated even though my android version was not.

For people who got a huawei phone:
When you got no google play, just download aptoide (the apk from their website is safe), from there you can: download most apps / download the google play services. I can't garantee the google play services will 100% work, but even if it doesn't work you can access all the google play apps you'd need from aptoide.
That's an old trick I used to install modern apps when my android phone was outdated even though my android version was not.
