  • The LEGO Ideas Motorised Lighthouse comes out September 1st for $300 in the US! This is an incredible build and I'm so excited to add this to our LEGO City soon!
The build was so much fun and this is a 10/10 set for me. My husband and I were able to split up the build so we could do it together, and the details and rock work look beautiful. The dark blue baseplate is awesome to see here as well.
LEGO Ideas set 21335 was sent from LEGO. All opinions are my own.

Some favorites are the: Treehouse, Medieval Blacksmith, Old Fishing Store. I think this Motorized Lighthouse is definitely a top 5! Those that work hard to afford this set are really going to feel that price tag though ... yikes

Hi from The Netherlands, I don't have a favorite ideas set yet, but my Lego Harry Potter Chess Board and the London Architecture Set look just stunning!
Talking about ideas, Can I use my own picutes for submitting new ideas on the website, or do I have to build it first? Happy Building!!

My boyfriend has always supported my Lego habit but it isn't his thing. However, he loves lighthouses and he has been waiting for this ever since we first heard about it. I'm so happy to bring him into my hobby - even if it's only a one time thing. So happy for this and definitely a first day buy.

I'm hearing more and more builders/influencers mentioning how much of a waste interior or hidden pieces are, isn't it about the building process and enjoyment? I personally love the Easter eggs and show em off when any of my guests asks about a specific set. I do get how people feel like it's evil LEGO adding to the piece count to make more money.

This set is awesome with a lot of cool details and functions.
However the price should have been $250 at most. In tiago's review he shows how it should have been around $230 with the price increases

At first didn't really like how this build looked. Howlever after watching some reviews. I'm really digging it. I floofing love the fresnel lens element in this build as it's really the stand out feature of the lighthouse and a appropriate the face the build is angled on the base plate. This would go Purrrfectly alongside the old fishing store in my opinion. 🐾

    • @Emmasaurus
      @Emmasaurus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I was hoping to spot some references to the fishing store, but I didn't see any! I don't have the fishing store, so if you saw any references let me know! But yeah - at first I was not excited at all for this, but the build was so much fun! It is expensive... but I also haven't adjusted yet to LEGO's new pricing so I don't know what's fair or not anymore

@@Emmasaurus The only things I could spit from this video that the lighthouse and old fishing store have in common are an anchor ⚓️, some fish 🐟 and barrels. It's a missed opportunity that they didn't name a minifig Anton or hand that name somewhere else in the lighthouse as the old fishing store is actually called Anton's Bait Shop. 🐾

It's sad to see such a great set be completely ruined by the price. Even Tiago Catarino agrees this set is overpriced. In fact, the vast majority of people agree. I just hope the original IDEA's designer isn't effected as most people will have to turn this down due to the price.

Every set is overpriced now, the obi wan vs Darth Vader fight set is worth $50 usd, and the galaxy explorer set is $130 usd. It’s honestly insane how expensive sets are now. Obi wan vs Vader should only 30 at max, and the explorer 60-80 max. And for this set I’d say 150-200 is about right, but 300?!?

It is so hard to know what is "fair" for LEGO pricing anymore. It'll take time to get used to the new normal, but yes - $300 is a lot for this! I think $230-250 would be more fair, but again the price increase made things a bit wonky

@@Emmasaurus I get that they need to keep up with inflation and pay wages and pay for supplies and stuff, I see Lego increasing in price with inflation but my wage and purchase power is staying the same and is not increasing at the same rate. Sooner or later I think Lego might need to revaluate how they price increase. Instead of just a straight increase across the board they need to look at each set individually and then increase on market demand and popularity

Thanks for the review. I just built this (BD present to myself) and yeah, originally I thought the $ was over the top but I enjoyed the build and the innumerable little details that are in this model sooo much, so that doesn't bother me anymore. The only thing that bums me out is that... It's finished. I tried to drag it out over several days but had a hard time staying away from it.
I've built several kits over the last few months (Ducati and BMW motorcycles, Lunar Lander, Brick Making Machine, Giza Pyramid, Bonsai tree, ISS) and it's really hard to pick a favorite. I think the best value for the experience is the Lunar Lander, which is another very clever design.
BTW I don't know if anyone else mentioned it (I didn't read all of the comments), and this is a nit for sure, but your LED light in the part right below the light tower can be seen at about 3:06. It should be hidden in the wall just like the other levels 🤭

The amount of pieces in a set and price per part ratio is completely worthless at this point; otherwise, we'd have been all over the Star Wars diorama sets. I would've been all over the Super Mario Question Mark Block. But NONE of them are decent value overall for how small the end product is, which was a harsh lesson I got from the Grand Piano two years ago. I've no doubt they're all nice to build, having built plenty larger more costlier (but massively discounted) sets, but so many sets this year have been awful value compared to last year. Heck the Question Mark Block is now nearly the same price as what Pirates of Barracuda Bay set was! And the upcoming Bowser set does not look like something that costs anywhere near the massive £230 for something so relatively small overall.
For context, until the price hike yesterday, this lighthouse did cost the same price in the UK as the Ninjago City Gardens set, which not only has significantly more pieces and ELEVEN times the amount of figures, it's almost significantly larger in every way. I know this set has electronics, but they surely cannot add so much to the price.

$300 is high but it's the right price for this.
You have 2000+ pieces, some of those are BURP's, a new colored baseplate, and an all new lens lego element. So that's about $200 to $210.
Then you have $50 hub, $17 motor and $10 lights. So that takes the model to $275 to $285. So at $300-, it's an understandable price for what you're getting.

    • @tamerkabes1551
      @tamerkabes1551 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Nice calculation. So this set costing the same as the daily bugle and twice the black smith makes sense? Our trains have motors (latest passenger one is with light too) which I bought 2 of for 110 EUR each at Amazon Germany so you can't exactly calculate it this way...also if you are a real Lego fan...who wants to pay so much for a new colored baseplate that may not match any of our existing ones if you were to place the light house in a Lego city? Nice to have for sure but paying premium for it is something 1 maybe 2 out of 10 fans would want. I think the issue is ppl like you accepting and trying to justify the insane prices giving Lego the green light to keep cranking the prices up. Hopefully collectors who own tens/hundreds of sets and have to be particular about the price will have to give it a pass although it is an amazing set.

I don't want to pay $300 for this, but you can see where the money is in the set. You can't see that?
2030+ pieces. With large Burp elements, baseplate and motorized elements, lights, new fabricated lens element.
If you break it all down, that's $300 bucks of stuff.
It's not hard to understand the price.
Every line, every set has it's own separate budget.
So how much should this be with motorized elements, lights, large burps, new fabricated lens and 2000+ bricks. How much?

Great review! Doesn’t matter price tag us Lego ppl are brainwashed and will pay anything Lego desires. Those that worked for it feel it a little more. Even at $500 I bet ppl will still buy it.😎

I don't like this mindset😂 Don't be brainwashed! Let LEGO know how you feel!

Haha! You are clearly here to love hating Lego. I and many other fans think that the price of this one is overboard and we won't buy it. So no, not all fans pay whatever for any Lego set.

300$ ... I knew alternatives where you can get 7400 pcs for 250$ ... they lost the ground completly.

If this set would be like Bluebrixx 104382 the price would be somewhat acceptable.

A big step in the wrong direction. No licence, definitely too expensive, stickers and beautiful. Lego ist milking his fans with this 🤣
