Then for a while it was genuine toxicity.

But yeah the things we said in old mw2 lobbies fell into the joke realm, for a while anyway the insults usually didn’t have a ton of weight it was just people thinking of the most clever and horrible insult they can for the hell of it. I’ve seen a ton more chill lobbies in games now and I honestly enjoy it, people aren’t here to start shit usually and just want to have some fun.
Because things have gotten much more chill if they encounter a screeching child standard response is either ignore them and carry on with your day or actually tell them to cut it out.
