I think the judges knew a mistake was made (by the audience) then the results came in. But I agree that the unmasked version is my favorite and I’ve watched it obsessively ever since 😂
I was hoping this was the unmasked version. They never let the performers sing the entire performance….and they did for this!! Can’t believe they were 3rd.
Hello Salvo G. So glad that you did this one. The Masked Singer was such fun for us Pentaholics because we knew it was them from the get-go. You should react to all of the PTX Masked Singer performances. My favorite is Total Eclipse of the Heart. They performed Creep also after they were unmasked and that performance is worth watching as they are without the cumbersome costumes and you can see Scott's passion, Matt's low notes and Mitch's face as he soars to the skies. PTX also released a studio version of Creep.

Still, the audio version they put out on the PTX channel is the best bc they clean up all the background noise. As for the costumes... they're much more elaborate than just a mask. Can’t tell from your playlist if you’ve ever reacted to the choir version of Scott’s “Mars”, but he’s definitely at his grittiest during that performance.

Scott tried to disguise his voice a little when they sang Paparazzi on the show, but lets face it, but he can't hide from us, none of them can, we know them too well.
This version, the unmasked version and just the audio versions are all just s little bit different and all epic! Another really great & soulful performance by Scott is his duet "Shoshanna Bean with Scott Hoying- All To Me". Shoshanna Bean joined Superfruit for one of their episodes. Hope you will react to this truly beautiful performance.
I think they did the costumes like this so it would be one California roll sliced into 5 pieces instead of 5 separate people in masks. It makes since they always perform as a unit and focus on the sound, not ego.
I'd say react to all of them. In order: Paparazzi, Uptown Girl, Eclipse of the Heart, Creep, Breakaway, Runaway and then Creep again after they got revealed (which I personally like the most).

@ReShay Wagner yes but in the unmasked version the camera is on Mitch during that part. They'd have to watch them singing it live on tour. The first time they sang it, they didn't have the balance mixed right and Scott fully over powered Mitch's part. That's how I know it was Scott. I've seen another recording from the next concert and the mic balance was so much better.

I can't help but wonder whether or not Pentatonix chose this song deliberately as their last act....whether or not they REALLY didn't belong there because they belonged on Tour and collaborated with the show NOT to win because they had Better Things To Do? The timing seemed nearly impossible to fit into their schedule and the message of this song is telling. Also, they didn't NEED to win. They've already won. Years ago. But they had FUN. Sushi rolls. My Gawd. What a bunch of goofballs. I love them so much.
