Don't attach a door anchor on the same side the door opens into. The door could open due to the resistance band overpowering the door latch, and you get popped with the band.

    summarize:

Training with the Iron Neck for 30 Days
    00:03
Trained with the Iron Neck 5 days a week for 6 weeks
Used the Iron Neck 3.0 Pro with additional strength kit, performed basic movements and exercises

Training with Iron Neck wraparound attachment and experiencing neck soreness
    02:33
Used a more secure attachment which gave confidence for 360 spins and felt the resistance on the weak spots of the neck.
Continued training with a wraparound attachment, did five sets of rotations, and identified weak spots on the back side of the neck.

Training with Iron Neck helped to balance and strengthen weak neck muscles.
    04:34
Using the Iron Neck for head turns targeted the bigger neck muscles with consistent tension.
Switching to a resistance band laced through itself with a carabiner only on the side of the iron neck proved effective in eliminating weak spots.

Experimenting with new neck exercises and training techniques.
    06:31
Incorporated new major movements - protraction, retraction, and figure eights.
Implemented training during workouts and increased resistance for added challenge.

Increased intensity led to muscle soreness and caution in training.
    08:50
Pushing resistance band limits led to thick neck pump results.
Overdoing it resulted in next level of muscle soreness and cautionary reflection on the intensity of training.

30-day iron neck training routine and progress
    10:48
Experimented with consistent resistance using iron neck attached to cable machine
Structured training with higher intensity on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, and active recovery on other days

Training with Iron Neck for 30 days resulted in noticeable neck size increase and dynamic tension benefits.
    12:57
The ability to add dynamic tension in full 360 range of motion from any angle on the neck was found beneficial for various scenarios, making it worth continuing to use.
Liked the adjustable padding and the pump to make it tight, but felt the need for more padding on the sides for better comfort and pressure distribution.

The adjustable tension on the IRON NECK 3.0 Pro and its pricing.
    15:16
This model allows adjustable tension for different exercises.
The critique on the plastic construction and the high price point of $500.

Experimenting with IRON NECK equipment for 30 days.
    17:05
Used resistance band and cable machine, each with different feel and effectiveness.
Favorable experience with the resistance band for therapeutic effect, but preferred the constant resistance of the cable machine.

The door latch strap will be reliable if placed on the opposite side where the hinge is..Place it just above the top hinge (so it won’t slide down) and close the door..It will not move..Also, (extra credit) if you place it lower just above the middle hinge, you might be able to do this exercise sitting in a chair if the legs have current injury and you are working out but avoiding the legs..

I didn't make sure the door was latched once and got hit right in the eye from eight feet. It was a bloody mess for a couple of weeks. No damage, but the ophthalmologist said it almost tore the eye open. Make sure the door is fully latched -- maybe walk away from it with your back to it at first. Or wear eye guards.
For the senior citizen set, this device doesn't help with the appearance of the platysma muscles, those cords that become visible in you neck as you age. It may even make them worse because you're contracting the muscles. I believe the key there is to do considerable stretching of those muscles.

or.....you get a carabiner, set it up to a door mount, connect a small snatch block and run a tension band through it. Now you got a system that rotates at the pulley on the door instead of on your head and you can just rotate the band around your head. You can get some pretty crazy well made climbing gear anchors and pulleys for way way less than 600 $

Word of advice: you should use the door anchor so that you are pulling on the door in the direction that it CLOSES, not in the direction that the door opens. This is a very important principle for any door anchor system. In the video, you were anchoring on the wrong side (very dangerous, as the door can open and the attachment will fly out towards you).

  • @InkyDustMan
    @InkyDustMan 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Honestly, I do believe your results are skewed somewhat, but also this undeniably works, just some logistical and consistency issues with this experiment-
First I think your neck likely looks a fair bit larger than it actually is simply due to the fact that in your before pictures, you got some decent coverage with your facial hair which is a naturally darker color than your skin, the darker appearance of your face around your jaw and neck may lend itself to a sort of optical illusion slimming effect, I think it'd probably have been a good idea to keep your look more consistent between pics so your perception isn't potentially skewed or exacerbated due to other outside factors, it could be a case of your jaw looking less defined with no beard which then makes your neck look bigger by comparison, but I do believe the measurements are accurate and is a healthy level of growth for a set of muscles that are very testy to try and train.
Second, while I do believe the build of the headset allows for more consistent resistance, I feel there is something to be said about there potentially being an issue of bloodflow and circulation, since essentially any form of resistance comes from pressure applied to the front, back, and sides of the head, and given that your forehead was often red after a workout, I would be worried about potentially cutting off circulation during prolonged usage, or potentially damaging or bursting arteries and blood vessels in the forehead due to pressure and an attempt at even mild progressive overload. I think it's an issue that MAY be able to be resolved with additional padding, but I do think there's gonna be an upper limit to it at some point, you can train the muscles, but you can't train blood vessels to be resistant against pinching, pressure and constricting, you just can't make soft tissue harder, and even if you could, you wouldn't want to.
Third is the same issue mentioned about the plastic at the end, even if equipment failure is unlikely, the last thing anyone wants is for equipment to fail...when it's strapped to your head and pulling on your neck with a tension band, I honestly think they may be sacrificing too much practicality for comfort in this area or to cut costs, because ideally you'd want a lightweight but sturdy metal for the framing/ring for this, as more than likely, the extra weight of the metal may have some benefits to strength on it's own, but would also likely be a better product overall in terms of durability. Even if YOU'RE not snapping, the next worst thing would be your EQUIPMENT snapping, especially when you're dropping 500-600 dollars on this.
Lastly I just wanna say, despite my criticisms and concerns, this is a great video, and the product seems to work exactly as intended, I'm just laying out an uncontrolled variable in the experiment, and voicing some potential design flaws and issues with this specific way of training. Obviously the first thing people think of here is not wanting to injure the muscles in the neck or spine and potentially cause harm to the spinal column, but if I were to guess a potential flaw of this that could cause damage, it would be the constriction of soft tissue around the head and face, as well as putting prolonged pressure on small, weaker bones of the skull like around the temple, the human head and neck isn't optimized to adapt as well the rest of the body in my opinion.
But yeah, those are my thoughts.

    • @InkyDustMan
      @InkyDustMan 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@abdulcole1100 I mean if you want to, you do you-
But just exercise caution (pun not intended) with how much you try to progress with this kind of training, I know some people with severe neck/spine issues swear by it for strengthening those muscles they suffer with-
But just be careful about either adding too much weight/resistance, or trying to do too long of sessions starting out-
And maybe be willing to sacrifice some of the traditional ways you'd progress with most exercises, again, if the plastic is a concern or the structural integrity, DON'T add more weight/tension.
Same for if you start experiencing too much redness or possibly bruising from too much pressure on/around the face.
Most weight/resistance training places the weight of a load on padded parts of the body with muscle and fat, like the palms of the hands or feet, not on places that are close to the bone, like the head and forehead.
Pretty much if you start experiencing too many uncomfortable side effects to the pressure, then maybe focus on shorter/less intense sessions.
It DOES seem like the sort of tool that'd be useful for physical therapy, but for "building" muscle in healthy people? I don't know.
I think if neck training were a priority, it'd probably be best to check out the techniques used by amateur and competitive wrestlers to strengthen their necks, as wrestlers are known for having some of the strongest and largest neck muscles around.
There's also a chance I could be ENTIRELY wrong, most of my concerns were just based on speculation.

Understood it's designed for functionality. Also stylistic-wise it's Mortal Combat meets a Roomba vaccume.

I feel like the measuring point is lower on your neck in the before pic, hitting a little trap (I see a little gap between the tape and your neck at 14:06 on the before) and the after is tighter and at a slimmer point of your neck. Your neck definitely got bigger

You shouldn't expect 30 says to change much. Do this for at least a year. And then check the results. Also hooking it up to the cable machine is a really good idea, as you can progressively overload to like 100kg

Thicker. And its going to take a while. I am 64 and I just started training for pistol squats and have been weeks just working on getting all the way down, these things take much time; that is muscle maturity.

That's an interesting piece of equipment. Ofc you can get great results with just using plates though. I started out last year with a neck circumference of 40 cm. Started doing neck training 2-3 times a week using plates ( 3-4 sets each direction of the neck, so 12-16 sets in total, 30+ reps per set). Neck is now a bit over 43.5 cm in circumference. I just started training my neck as a fun experiment. I like the look of a bigger neck though so stuck with it. After a neck workout with the pump my neck is like 46 cm. Would love to have that big of a neck without the pump. If you are muscular a big strong neck complements your body very well. Makes you look a lot bigger.

As a rule I *never* have metal hardware on the far end of a band that's going to my face/head, if something happens to the attachment it becomes a serious projectile. I have a friend who got hit by a stretched band in the eyes (no hardware, just the rubber) and that temporarily damaged his eyesight, scary stuff. I have a homemade contraption, made from martial arts belt with two loops on each end with carabiners, attached to a loop band which is attached to whatever anchor by looping through it. I only train my neck in static positions under resistance (keeping an upright posture, chin tucked in, neck in alignment) not with movement, as I think it's healthier in the long run, but that's just me.
