Part 2: • Darryl Strawberry: I A...
--------
Baseball legend Darryl Strawberry opened up about his experiences growing up in the violent neighborhoods of Crenshaw, which were fraught with gangs and daily struggles. He revealed his struggles and the conscious decision he made to attend school and focus on sports, a move that helped him escape the life of gang violence that many of his peers fell victim to. Strawberry emphasized the importance of making such decisions and expressed regret over the wasted talent and potential in young people swayed by the negativity in their environments. He also discussed the challenge of staying healthy in his older years and how he managed to overcome getting 'a little heavy' by changing his eating habits. He concluded by reflecting on his baseball career's physical toll, highlighting that despite daily aches and pains, he wakes up feeling healthy. - บันเทิง

This guy was my idol growing up in the LA area. He is the reason I pursued baseball and wore #18. Glad to see he has overcome his issues
What school did you play at?
Crenshaw
Ok....I played for Serra in the 90s
I played at Banning
@alpreston7219 I remember when Banning had Mike Busby..throwing 100 mph.......we both pitched a no hitter on the same day
Every time I hear the name Daryl Strawberry I get nostalgia. Collecting baseball cards with the chewing gum.
One of the most naturally talented baseball players ever.. can’t wait for those wild 80’s Mets stories…
What were all here for gonna be a few days! Haha damn. Vlad!
The coolest dude ever! "The Straw" - I am sorry that younger people didn't get to watch him play. Such a beautiful swing.
Darryl Strawberry one of my favorite players I still got my baseball cards he was one of the very first baseball players I ever collected
One of the sweetest swings ever
I grew up in the Crenshaw high school area. Darryl was a Crenshaw legend in sports and grew up in the Rollin 60s neighborhood. Back in the 70s most gangs in the area were fist fighting. The violence erupted in 1979-1980.
Just when gang warfare erupted, Daryl was drafted by the Mets.
@@crissal4730 What's really interesting his brother was rumored to be just as talented in baseball as Darryl but become an gang member.
@@davidthomas8113 would make perfect sense, how many times do we see an elite athlete who tells us that their brother was actually more talented? SMH crazy
VIOLENCE EXISTED BEFORE LANGUAGE GENIUS
My favorite baseball player growing up in the 80’s….i taught myself how to bat left handed, because of strawberry, and I was right handed
Same here. Grew up in NJ. my great grandmother was a big Mets fan. Watched many games with her.
Everybody from the west coast either look like DJ Quick or Mark Curry

He was my fave for a long time. His swing was a work of art. Absolutely beautiful!!
Darryl!!!! Maximum respect to one of my favorite baseball players!!
I remember og mumpy from rollin 60s talking about him on kev mac
Yea he was big in the baseball world around Crenshaw
When i was a kid he was my favorite player i still got his jersey
One of the fondest memories I have. My grandparents took us to our first baseball game to go see the Mets play back in the 80s when i was a young child. We show up to the game a little late at Shea Stadium. As we are entering the stadium, we are walking up the stairs right behind the batter's box, behind home plate. The second we get up to where we can see over the wall, Darryl Strawberry is standing right there at bat with his back to us, pretty close. A split second later, the pitch is in the air and the first thing I see and hear is Strawberry cracking a massive homerun and the crowd roaring like crazy. It was like a scene in a movie the way it unfolded. The timing was impeccable. This was when Strawberry was at his absolute peak. I'll never forget what that felt like. Thanks Darryl.
I remember seeing him at Good Fred barber shop on 54th and western. R.I.P Fred.
Strawberry is my all time favorite baseball player
Mines too!!!

@@gfunkmadness sniff...😥
Doc and Darryl. The glory years for the Mets. Fun times
That 86 Mets team was a monster. On and off the field.
Love Love Love. This will be a great interview. In spite of everything Strawberry went through, we still love what he has accomplished.😊
Great beginning. I was a huge DS fan growing up. Thanks Vlad
WOW! My childhood hero (and I wasn't even a Mets fan!) This is a gem of an interview!!

Legendary interview.
This was my favorite baseball player of all time. And Doc Gooden was my favorite pitcher
Good to see Darryl on VladTV, my father used to coach Darryl in baseball ⚾️
My absolute favorite player, Him and Eric Davis is the reason I started batting left handed
Love this dude, and so happy to see him doing well and looking so great at his age. I have such warm memories of following the Mets as a little kid, and Strawberry was such a central part of those magical memories. Thanks for this one, Vlad...
So many memories of when I was a baseball fan..not the same anymore
My favorite baseball player I have his Mets & Dodgers jerseys to this day
My favorite Dodger growing up in the 90s. I use to try and mimick his high quick swing.
As a little lefty that grew up in the 80s Bonds Strawberry and Griffey Jr were my favorites
I hope the youth that are listening to this interview take notice. Because this man has a real testimony. PS & he was a legendary player by the way .
This is going to be a good one Daryl Stawberry in his era was a top 10 player and people forgot about it. But he did come from very humble beginnings.
That’s my guy! Hell yeah!
As a mets fan, we all are huge fans of this guy. Glad he has some of the greatest moments with the team
Straw Man ok ok this WILL BE GOOD
👊
Very underrated because off the field issues...man's is one of the greats
One of my baseball idols. He and DOC made me a MET FAN for life UNFORTUNATELY 😭😭
PROPS TO DARRYL AND DOC for being inducted in the METS HALL OF FAME!!!!
BIG SHOUT OUT TO ERIC DAVIS!!!!!!!! DARRYL’s peoples from CRENSHAW!!
Vlad got us in chokehold lol
😂
What mean?
We live in their system (NEELY FULLER)
If you didn’t like being in a chokehold you would try in school and change. But instead everyone is jealous of the people that do good and get out. The city kids have it made they could have been born into a trailer park up a holler in BFE West Virginia. Being born in redneck country is even worse because there aren’t many opportunities like you have in major cities. Here there is nothing but a few coal mines that’s left
Big facts
Met Darryl in LGA airport a while back. He was really nice and even let me get a pic with him. It was so cool because when I was a kid I had a lot of his cards and he was my favorite player. ⚾️🍓🙂💯
High school team mate of Ronnie Lott.
86 Mets baby! Right field! That was a dream team!
Man that team…..
Strawberry
Gooden
HoJo

Ooooh this gonna be good
He had the sweetest swing
86 Mets line up was crazy
I wanna know his thoughts on the references to him in Bad Lieutenant (with Harvey Keitel, brilliant movie)
If it's in the full thing IDK cause I don't feel like watching it rn
lol I collect this guys cards like crazy. probably buy at least 5 every week on ebay. this was random as hell when I saw the notification for a darryl strawberry video LOL
How Vlad interviewing our heros
Dude Looks Amazing for 62!! Darrel was always a Cool Cat⚾️⚾️⚾️
Great lowball hitter!
THE BEST! LEGEND.
My man look the same as my 90s baseball cards of him lol.... He is a legend
One of if not the best swings in baseball.
Between him, Griffey jr, or will Clark. The 3 of them had the greatest swings I’ve ever seen
The Legend🤟🏽
I was always a fan of this brother
My favorite player d strawberry the best.. he was the hood over iverson in baseball in the 80 90s
i walked across the BB field on the way home from school and didn't understand why there were all these scouts there when we played Crenshaw. It was yrs later that I realized they were there to see Daryl.
VLAD you pull’em out the woodwork
What happened in 1990 playoffs * with Dodgers? epic 3-0 fall*inspired a movie *& beef with Lasorda
Darryl Strawberry is the reason I became a professional wrestler. I grew up in Beverly Hills and really had a hard life. Both my parents were good people, but the money they had made us spoiled brats.
My Uncles and me love Mr. Strawberry !
His childhood friend is still my favorite baseball player of all time…Eric Davis.
Fremont High School.
He does look great. I hope he stays on track. Best swing in baseball history.
Great man. Great recovery. Great athlete. Nobody I admire more.
love you Darryl.
Red Sox fan, but always liked Daryl strawberry and collected all his cards back in the day
I'm an Australian & baseball isn't that big over here but the first time I remember hearing this name was the Simpsons 😂
my next store neighbor. good memories of Darryl
Wow the Staw man on here. She was my dude growing up in Queens as a Met fan. I’ll wait full interview to watch though.
I was just wondering was him and Dwright Gooden was still alive. It’s good to see him. Next I hope Vlad interviews Lawrence Taylor will be great
Been a Mets fan since for 86
No one:
Vlad: “It’s your first time here so I want to start from the beginning”
Rollin' 60's
OMG my favorite baseball player of all time
"BIG BIG LONG TIME FAN, Darryl. By the way, how many touchdowns you caught??!"
Doc Gooden and Darryl created an eternal connection and great memories for NY Baseball fans. Even for us Yankee fans. For myself, it was the only period where I followed and attended Met games. For the youngsters, if they hadn't been caught up in the drug "war" in the 80's ( i.e when the U.S Gov't flooded black neighborhoods with drugs to finance international proxy wars for stealing resources) they both would likely have been Hall of famers. Straw who hit 335 while missing major parts of 6 seasons with drug and cancer problems had can't miss Hall of fame talents. Doctor K had HOF abilities too. I'm glad they will be honored at SHEA this year. ( a little Yankee fan dig😁)
Can’t wait for Vlad to ask about the crack question 😂😂😂😂💯📌 Mr. Strawberry is the 🐐📌🫡‼️
Maneee I swea I thought this was Denzel 😭😭😭😂
If Vlad is interviewing Darryl strawberry, that should mean that Dwight Gooden is next💪💯🤙
Did that Kevin Bludso interview inspire this interview? They’re like twin brothers 😂😂😂
D streezy was on big drugs back in the day crazy I always thought him and Todd bridges was the same person when I was younger 😂😂😂
🗽🍎 LEGEND
My man (Denzel voice)
All time favorite player
🔥🔥🔥
His brother was cold in baseball too just as good as him but he chose the streets
It happens that way sadly
Mike? Or that’s his nephew I think
