Former professional baseball player Darryl Strawberry said he stands by his comments on athletes mixing politics with sports. He had previously told athlete Colin Kaepernick to "leave the politics alone as far as your job" and "do your job and play sports." Strawberry has faced backlash for perceived attempts to silence athletes speaking out on social and political issues. However, he explained his comments stemmed from understanding sports careers are short and political stances can impact those careers. He cited Kaepernick's absence from football after his public protest as evidence. Strawberry also shared his pride in his children's professional sports and college careers, stating he didn't want them "to get lost" in the lifestyle. Despite his children's successes, he was most proud of them for obtaining college degrees, something he did not achieve.
It's just hard to believe that you can sue an organization for discrimination and win and then ask for another job. They gave you bread to never see you again.
Exactly 💯
Happens all day everyday. That is what the EEOC does. If your job discriminates against you they have to give you back the money you lost plus interest and your job back.

Kaep got figured out by defenses towards the end and the juice wasn’t worth the squeeze for teams as a backup. Plus what you want from a backup is steady, consistent floor play, Kaep couldn’t provide that. Coming from a Niners fan.
exactly. amazing how he just magically had his social justice ephiphany when he sucked and not when he was still good and had a bunch of endorsements.
FOH, Colin Kapernick was coming back from shoulder, knee and thumb surgery, he had to regain weight and muscle just to get back in shape to go and he still wasn't nowhere near 100% when he started kneeling, y'all hate that man because he was protesting against the shit people like you refuse to stop doing, it enraged y'all so he was silenced, and y'all rejoiced 😏
Another Amazing interview VLADTV 💯
Kap Qb rating was 32nd in the league and he struggled mightily making the proper adjustments once DCs figured him out. That's when he was benched and started kneeling. Simply not worth the headache for the low level of play. Well said Straw!
And green bay couldn't stop him ever and had aaron rodgers out for that one season he would have had that team in the playoffs instead of 1/15 or whatever horror show green bay was that year
That's bullshit.
The vast majority of police killings and brutality involves white victims. Unfortunately white people have their own narrative and feelings about a piece of cloth and a song that was never meant to include everyone, but you have that privilege.
It’s wild hearing a dude who was born in apartheid talk about someone fighting for his freedom.
I agree D.Strawberry 1000 percent what did disrespecting the flag have to do with protesting if the black national anthem was played a whites took a knee we would be up in arms.

I can see your point of view, but it is a strong man guided by his conscious to stand for something bigger.
There is so much ambivalence in the world- it speaks to the soul to see people standing for what is right,
not leaving it to someone else.
Darryl speaking some demonstrable truth here.
I don’t understand how people say if they did this he’s disrespecting the flag and doesn’t understand what it means but it was a man IN the military, who fought for our country, that told Kaepernick that this was the best way to go about it.
Being from the Bay Area, there is a big misconception regarding Colin Kapernick. There were already whispers within the organization about wanting Kapernick out. The fans also wanted him out they no longer stood behind him. There really wasn't any love lost when Colin left among 49ers fan or the organization. What Colin didn't realize was how to play the game with the very people holding the bag, mainly the owners. Once Colin started causing trouble, his career was essentially over. Colin was trying to be on a level of 2pac Mutulu Shakur, Afeni Shakur, Huey Newton, George Jackson, Mario Savio, Malcom X , Martin, and various others leader ( but he lacked insight into the fight of civil rights and knew nothing of what those before us fought for). Had Colin did his research, he would have understood he was way out his league. He lacked the for sight, charisma, social awareness, and ability to lead. Everyone can run for president, but only one person can win. In order to win, you have to be able to connect with and read the room. Colin miss read the room and never understood the assignment.
I one hundred percent disagree with you. I can't believe you typed all of that b.s.
Daryl Strawberry hit the nail on the head.
@kingbuck427 Your entitled to your opinion. But I live in the Bay area and the 49ers wanted Colin gone.
@kingbuck427 They got rid of him and has never played again. The 49 fans are good without Colin
@16goodchickenwings Bro don't waste your time with this one
@16goodchickenwings Unfortunately, you are wrong. I'm am from the Bay Area, and there were rumblings about Colin future with the 49ers. The fans were not happy. We didn't care whether he stayed or not. To be clear, his on the field antics were a distraction. All black peopledont look alike or agree. Colin was out of his damn mind with that BS on the field. Colin would have been more effective had he talked about being given up for adoptionand being raised in a good middle class family with white parents. Colin had a place to stay, a good education, was never hungry, and by all accounts had a great life. So what did Colin know about the stuggle of the inner city. He knew absolutely nothing.
Kap stood on business. I didn't agree with his method, but I respected him for it! .
He never knelt until he lost his starting position.
DJ was a swiss army knife at Maryland.....good times =)
The real lyrics to the original national anthem was racist as hell a lot of people don't know that.
racism is a human element whats your point
well people love re-writing history
Yeah i love darryl but he sounds real ignorant here@@rondoughhowell6442
You look good brother happy to see you.
Players have more say so now then when Daryl played
It didn't take a genius to see that Colin Kaepernick was never going to play in the NFL ever again. After that whole taking a knee stance. I understood why he did it and I honestly didn't see a big deal about it in the beginning, but it created a monster that literally was one of the domino effects of how this country and society is to this day if you really think about it.
I think he thought the majority would be on board with his thoughts, only to find out that the majority were against him. And once the majority realized how numerous they were, it became acceptable to speak against Kaepernick's stance. Basically agreeing with police brutality. I also think Kaepernick thought he would have more support from owners and management in general. I think the owners saw what he was saying as being bad for business, because the majority didn't agree. The people who didn't agree or like what he was doing/saying are the same people who buy tickets to games. "Ticket purchasing fans" voiced their feelings and it was a wrap. Ownership is not going to allow a player's opinion, stance on a political subject affect ticket sales, aka their pockets... I personally agreed with his position on police brutality, just though his efforts were misguided and misunderstood...
Professional sports are a microcosm of real society regardless of an athletes income or status; it's not pretty or fair at all most of the time.
I can’t concentrate watching homie after reading someone’s comment few videos ago saying dude licks his lips more than his cat 😂
Cap got blackballed but it was easy to do because he also sucked by the end of his playing career. That said you knew he was blackballed because he was still better than many of the back up qbs that were signed.

@@derrick_smitty the blackballed part
@@rondoughhowell6442 the NFL actually settled with him on this issue definitely not for small change either
I remember d.j., being in houston i remember the Rockets picking him up for a bit.
Once I saw the story the next day after Kaepernick sat during the national Anthem in that pre season game. Then heard him say why he did it, I knew he wouldn't play again if he was insistent on leaving the 49ers to pursue free agency. He gave GM Lynch a gift not having deal with pressure cutting Colin. It was over. It pissed these people off and was it.
meanwhile the 49ers are still losing Superbowls regardless
Kap doesn't even want to actually play football. He's a fake martyr who makes more from endorsing Nike and their sweatshop labor than he would as a back up qb while doing a lot less work.

He's right. Instead of winning with the people through b politics, win with your family through success.
Muhammad Ali and Jim Brown won with their politics, that's their thing, they don't want black people in charge of passing policy because it goes against their interests to control them, they have laws that protect gay people, Asians, trans, no anti lynching laws, hell, they voted to keep Harriet Tubman off the $20 bill.

Kaepernick arguably has made more money after protest than he would have otherwise, if money is the only measurement of success, which it isn't. Also Kaepernick's name and legend has grown exponentially even if you don't like him. Personally I agree with his protest and I think he should have went to play CFL. I just find it funny how the maga/conservative people claimed to never watch the nfl again because of players kneeling, but later on kept on watching 😂.
they were full of shit from the start. they probably tried to boycott one week. but still couldnt help themselves but to check the scores lol. then the next week, they checked the scores and watched the highlights, but were still boycotting watching or attending the games. by week 3 or 4 of the sham, they had tapped out and quiet returned to their normal viewing ways, and likely bitching and moaning about it the entire time too lol. meanwhile, the viewership never wavered and only increased. aka.......the maga losers were never missed.
I don't agree with his views about the flag.

Dj strawberry went to Maryland was good athlete
Let’s be honest. He was not tearing the house down when he did play.
If you're gonna springboard off sports to make a social message, you better be good. And if you look at Kaepernick's stats in games close to the end of his career, they were some of the worst stats I ever saw from an NFL starting QB ever. I agree his mouth stopped him from getting looks from other teams, which isn't right. If not for that, he'd likely have gotten a 2nd, 3rd, and even a 4th chance.
His last season he had 16 TDs and 4 INTs. Nothing of that is 'worse stats ever'
@@user-jg5ez8wn5l I'll grant you that is a nice TD-to-INT ratio. I didn't realize it was that good. And like I said, he was robbed of a chance to land with another team. But averaging 200 yards a game isn't gonna work, nor is launching protests when you win 4 of your last 24 starts with the team. But I hear you. I'm just saying if you go look at some individual games in between his little spike-weeks, there were a large handful of putrid games in there.
That song was never for us😂 That's like writing a love letter for your crush, and the teacher finds it and make you give it to the girl everybody teases.
@kingba7749
The fact that you comment does not have 1000 likes shows that people are so uneducated and will accept anything as the truth. The song never represented us as a people and never will. And there is one line in that song that proves it. The line that states “In the land of the free”. The song was created in 1815 from a poem, and the United States did not free slaves until 1865. And that fact is always lost in these type of discussions. Fact are facts!!! The only way that I would truly rally around something would be that it was originally meant for me.

Without question, I personally admire the stance that Kapernick took in regards to the issues facing the black community. However, similar to Muhammad Ali, Kapernick knew that there is a price to pay for standing up to the powers that be! And in regards to the National Anthem, it was written by a racist slave owner, and the 3rd stanza refers to slaves being killed if they choose to fight on the side of the British!
Get over it!
Comparing the 2 is laughable. Kap is a complete fraud. Ali was the real deal.
