I love seeing different miniatures games on the channel, not just 40k. This game looks really intriguing and is a great switch-up with a narrative twist. Please keep up the great work!
The Separatists have become my main, mostly because General Grievous and Commando Droids are amazing. However, I will say, I didn't appreciate the standard B1 until I realized they make excellent cannon fodder to march down the middle of the board drawing fire and being a nuisance while Grievous and the Commandos do the heavy lifting.
Great to see Legion getting more online exposure, especially from you folks. It's a fantastic game, with a deceptively simple yet actually extremely deep rules system with all sorts of interesting twists that add depth in ways you might not initially expect or perceive. And the best thing about it is that all the rules are available online for free. They even answer rules questions on their forums more or less in real time (i.e. you don't have to wait 6 months for a FAQ ) with answers that become official rulings. It's such a breath of fresh air if you're used to the GW "you will pay us hundreds of dollars a year for rules, and you'll be grateful for it!" attitude. That's not to say it's perfect - the rules are free to view, but to actually use them in tournaments, you may need to buy cards that are sometimes only available in mini boxes you might not want except for the cards, which feels lame - they released a card pack a while ago, but it's way out of date now, and they don't seem interested in keeping it current. And although you'd expect tight balance from a game with only 4 factions, it often hasn't been great (though it's certainly no worse than 40k). But these are minor quibbles. The one thing I will say that is legitimately disappointing about the game is the quality of the original wave of minis, some of which are frankly a bit derpy, and most of which are very monopose with essentially no customization. The recent releases have gotten much better, both in terms of quality and potential for customization. Hopefully they will go back and fix up the originals at some point.
I’m confused about one of the rules about units if you have a group do you have to pay for each individual member of the group or do they all count as one cost
I'm so glad that you guys are doing Star Wars Legion. You guys have the best production value of any other tabletop wargaming channel, and my favorite wargame deserves the love you guys are giving it.
This couldn't come at a better time! Great video! Just got my hands on a starter set and some heroes. Seems Legion is getting a lot of love across youtube right now!
Thanks for putting this out, I've done the learning scenario a couple times now, and I still felt like I wasn't getting everything about the game. Great battle-report as well to Nick and Steve.
Would you consider doing a full rules video? As you're so good at explaining them 😅Me and a friend have just brought this and sometimes seeing rules being explained in action makes more sense than re reading rules 6 times before you know whats going on 😅
This is my favorite tabletop game!!! I love the aesthetic of warhammer, but I just always find myself enjoying legion better. The rules are so refined and easy. You can have complex activations with easy to remember rules. Love the way they implement armor and anti-armor weapons. Everything feels so clean.
I can tell you filmed this after playing your first game, because I hear the same excitement I had after finishing my first game this past Sunday! Great video, and excited to see SWL growing!
So awesome to see Star Wars Legion. I am just getting into it and these videos are such great motivation. Its also great to see the Play On guys try it out. I have met a few of them they are great dudes.
That seems to make getting suppression tokens surprisingly good though, doesn't it? Even if actually suppressed, your shooting seems less affected than your survivability is improved. And high courage makes it even better!
This is the first time I hear of this. I used to play Warmachine/Hordes, but I've since given it up. I'm going to start playing Middle Earth SBG & I'm definitely playing this!! NICE!!
Hey Play On guys, recently picked up the Legion starter set cuz I love war gaming and miniature painting but have fallen out of love with 40k’s gameplay. Legion is hands down my new fav TT war game, thanks so much for introducing me to the game, you guys are amazing keep up the work!!!
Amazing! It's funny, I actually learned these rules from the fantasy wargame "song of blades and heroes" which this activation and movement sets are sourced from. Quite a fun alternative to warhammer's massive confusion.
Hey guys. Thanks for the awesome videos. This is going to sound crazy, but I randomly showed up to a 500 pt. Star Wars Legion tournament yesterday and managed to go 3-0 without letting my opponents score a single victory point. I created a fun list using my friend's models, and up until the tournament my only knowledge about the game was the material from your videos. Seriously. No models. Had never read the rulebook... just sort of showed up and kicked ass. Ended up winning the store exclusive limited edition Luke Skywalker! Thanks!
Could we get more Star Wars legion please! I love your 40K but lately Star Wars Legion and Conquest have been so much fun to dive into! I’d love to see the battle of Utapau or Felicia!
I really miss the Tau battles video. Hope they come back soon) tau and S.marines VS some overwhelming power of thousand sons or grey Knight would be interesting to see. Bullet against magic!
Very helpful video as I'm planning a Star Wars Legion getting started series on my channel using the civil war core set and I'm trying to figure out how best to introduce and cover certain aspects and rules.
My friend and I are playing through the narrative scenarios from the Escape Pod, Downed AT-ST, and Bunker sets. I think that you could do some AMAZING work with those scenarios on the channel!
I know it's just one instance, but the Legion Battle Report got me to sign up for the patreon for early access to the video. haha Typically I wait until the 40k ones come out on TH-cam, but I couldn't wait for the Legion one. Hope y'all are able to do Legion reports!
Repulsor vehicles by default don't have compulsory movement, they gain it with some keywords like speeder, as the typical case. But awesome guide, Im pretty happy Play On is entering in SWL as I recently entered and find it super awesome game. Not related but happy to see in general other wargames being played, I recently entered Conquest with a friend because of the battle report made here... so awesome. Thanks for the great content.
Great idea for battreps if gw will try to use their banhammer on your content. I'll definitely take a look, but if Mandalorians will release, it Will be a no brainer buy from my part. Thx for the game introduction.
I hate the special dice and measuring sticks. In 40k I just need the models and Wahapedia; I can use normal d6 dice and a measuring tape, which is why I think 40k 9th ed is better. Also I hate the cards.
Great Work! Please keep up the Legion love! Would love to see you guys build a felucia table or maybe a scenario based on the krayt dragon episode of the Mandalorian! (There are fantastic 3d files for the dragon and the heroes available from a well known community hero) :)
Operative Luke vs the new and improved operative Vader is what i wanna see. Oh, a few wookies on one side and Imperial Royal Guard on the other wouldn't hurt ;)
Would like to see clone wars stuff or heck mix and match eras battle droids vs stormtroopers would be interesting or even clones vs rebels for the early days of the empire would be cool.
Nick and friends, what are some more specific rules on legion in regards to which particular models you are allowed to have in a corp. per say if I wanted to run black sun enforcers can I just have a lot of the scatter gun models since I think they look the coolest or do I need the black sun vigo and its whole squad. Basically do I need a vigo in the corp with enforcers or could i hypothetically have five scatter gun models? I hope this qeustion came out understandable thanks for all y’all’s content I super enjoy it and it helps with my depression! Thanks guys genuinely
Seeing the rules like this, they seem pretty good, but in your game they didn't feel right for me. The random activation takes away from planing and decision-making, though I guess the command cards lessen that and also bring their own decision-making. I also found it weird, that suppression tokens give you cover (flat damage reduction), but don't affect your attack except for (if low courage) taking away the aim action (reroll two dice), which seems not as powerful. If the unit has high courage it can even only get advantages from suppression tokens, right!? Other than that, decent rules. But the best about your game was that amazing table and the fun you guys had!
could you provide a link for those laser muzzle effects for the miniatures? those look really sick and would like to put some on the ATST as well as Darth Vader reflecting laser blast like in SW-VI. Thanks in advanced.
I love seeing different miniatures games on the channel, not just 40k. This game looks really intriguing and is a great switch-up with a narrative twist. Please keep up the great work!
Lets see the Droid Army! Hordes of B1s and B2s supported by heavy Armour is always a treat to see! Maybe even some Lightsaber wielding folks?👀

BIG NOTICE: Recovering removes all suppression, not just one. This makes it really strong against certain army lists

Fantastic game! Please do more! This game deserves way more coverage
I just played the "learning game" last night. So far I like it! It's very intuitive and plays quick.
I like how cover is so directly useful. Removing one hit feels so much more rewarding than getting hit a little bit harder.
That seems to make getting suppression tokens surprisingly good though, doesn't it? Even if actually suppressed, your shooting seems less affected than your survivability is improved. And high courage makes it even better!
