It's crazy how far battle rap has come. I remember watching this in my teenage days. I'm 31 now. Here you see iron Solomon splitting his 100$ winnings with thesaurus. Just before he splits the cash he says "I'm gonna split this money because we should be getting paid more, maybe like 1000$" fast forward 10-15 years, look how the bag has changed.
"All I know is that" is his go-to filler phrase... anyone who really freestyles understands that. All of the battle rappers from this era had a go-to phrase.
Lol tantrum "Stfu because your rapping sucks" Always says "shut the fuck up" in battles Then um who else Dumbfoundead would always says "God damn" I don't agree that all the rappers had a go to phrase But a lot of them did I know some rappers try relying more on the gimmick and premeditated bars And don't need a catch phrase
@@TheOo0oO They were making a lot more than $100 bucks for battles back then. This was at the peak of Off the head rap battles. It's all pre written now. These 2 were the top battle rappers at the time. This was always a much anticipated match up but it never officially happened in any tournaments. It was only $100 bucks because there's no sponsors. This is like Rocky and Tommy street fighting.
Honestly solomons material was better but these were freestyles back then, solomon came with obvious writtens and saurus was 100% freestyle. Saurus really showed why hes a mt rushmore candidate here. Not many can carry the same 3 syllable rhyme pattern for multiple bars off the top. Both always legends tho
I onky just noticed this aswell watching it now and couldn't believe thesaurus lost it even though back in the day I gave this to Solomon. I think it's safe to say that we as humans (even the judges) are still learning more about what raps really about everyday
on some real shit, this was back in the "freestyle "days and Solomon wrote and recycled lines from previous battles, through in a couple of fresh bars in the beginning and called it a verse, thesaurus freestyled his shit and was the toughest opponent hes ever faced- he had him shook! thesaurus has hone on to become a champ and is sicker than ever, the outcome today would be quite different, respect to both
Thesaurus was clearly freestylin' and had just finished battlin' other dudes, Solomon's was written except a rebuttal or two. Hard to beat a written with a freestyle.
In their Primes, Illmac (still serving the new comers) The Saurus, Iron Solomon are all better than the new battle rappers. All the new battle rap is who can spit more about guns they have. Even Dumbfoundead was better than these new rappers. Kid twist even more creative. Diz is ok Charlie is alright, the best of the newcomers is Bigg K
Cody Allen If that's what you think, you need to watch more battles. Yes, there are a TON of generic gunbar rappers, but there are a ton of talented battlers (even ones who rap about gun bars). I honestly don't mind if someone is spitting gun bars, so long as they're dope. It doesn't matter about what you're rapping if it's not dope.
How can you complain about gun bars and in the same breath say how much you like Bigg k dude uses mad gun bars all I care about are bars and punches whether or not it's about a gun idgaf if its hot its hot if its not it's not
as someone who raps its funny cause almost everyone has a got to phrase they say while theyre thinkin to prevent stumblin...like dumbfoundead says "Got Dayum!!!" and the saurus says "all i know is that" and he was fuckin up bad cause he said all i know is that at least 15 times soooooooooo yeah got dayum lmao
+Juan Coleman Because he's actually freestyling. Solomon wrote. This was before writing was considered acceptable. That's why Thesarus opened up with that bit about "I know you went home to record those lines, so to say weather its written or not, I guess its borderline"
@boobooheadjr show some respect for thesaurus off the top, and Solomon is a legend Your ignorance equals racism with the hating about Solomon being white running back to the burbs etc.
@vebdaklu You have written punchlines you use in a rap battle. Not any battle is 100 percent of the top. Also just because he does it differently than you means everything is written? Maybe he is just better than you. Lol. Congratulations on knowing how to freestyle what is your name i will look you up.?
All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that, All I know is that,
People can't think that solomons pre writes his rhymes caus he doesn't. He's a lyrical genius and shit just comes to him. Yeah maybe a few rhmyes hebwrites down but I bet all freestylers do that. If you notice he repeats slot of stuff in his otha free styles so I doubt he pre writes it
iron solomon you are a barve person, you have balls ,i dont know where you hail from, but you talk more smack and trash talk then i have ever heard possibley in the history
I hate how they say how anticipated it is. Tonight's battle is not so anticipated and slightly publicized, with both rappers fairly famous, etc. (who the fuck cares)
It was a $100 dollar bet yes they each put up $50. Iron mentioned though, that they were each given 1k to start. And I really have to take a guess here, but I think jumpoff paid for Thesaurus' airfare.
Why is this the best comedy battle ever written the spokesmodel for Coke bottles!! How do u say that with a straight face the porcupine line is god tier! Dude I would have to leave the battle after irons 1rst verse! LEGEND
@dante3472 most freestyle rappers tend to mix written rhymes with freestyle. Average freestylers tend to have 80% of their rhymes written, 20% off the dome. Good freestylers like Iron Solomon have 50% to 80% of their rhymes freestyled. Some rappers just have theirs written.
@notsophil because I know how to freestyle, the whole science behind it...many ways to prepare...and you can plainly se that Solomons "pork and swine" scheme goes on for like 14 bars, and they were all super-tight...without pauses or anything...there is no way to do that off the top...he would have to use pauses/fillers/setup's...so - it's prewritten...Not that it matters,no one said "no prewrittens"...
@egga31 when you go on a spree of like 15 very complex rhymes and they all make sense (and are even strong punchlines) - then sorry, they are written...He starts with a few flips, and then proceeds to writtens...TheSaurus had a few lines prepared, for sure, but was mostly off the top...
The "all I know" thing got pretty damn old. I don't care if its written or not that isn't the point of a battle. The point of the battle is to BATTLE the other person, if solomon can do that throwing in a few written verses that just makes him better prepared.

all i know is...why the fuck did i click on this shit
😂😂
What the fuck? He only got paid 100 bucks for that shit? And Thesaurus didn't get shit? Dafuq? That's a classic battle for some dirt cheap money.
"All I know is that" is his go-to filler phrase... anyone who really freestyles understands that.
All of the battle rappers from this era had a go-to phrase.
On smack they used to touch their nose...especially serious Jones lol
Lol tantrum
"Stfu because your rapping sucks"

Yeah he used that Line a few times also 5 mics in a gay orgy
100$ !? damn... shame they should have each been paid at least 1500$
this was 8-9 years ago it wasnt that big back then
yeah i know but still only 100$.. thats nothing

I demand a rematch
I definately second that
Sounds like thesauraus was actually freestyling but iron was spitting writtens
Damn iron looks young as hell.Think Pete's always looked 50
Fuck who won for a second tho.. more importantly, they only battled for 100 dollars!?
Solomon
It's great to see Solomon win every fight he's in.
Actually he flew to NY because that is where Spin the Mic was. This was after the event I think
Solomon got mad when he knew he was losing. LOL
All i know is that everytime i watch this im Stoned out my freakin mind maaan
This man chugging a 40 ounce
All I know is that. The saurus is gay
Remember this was the same night of spin the Mic when saurus battled 3 other people including a classic matchup with Illmaculate....
on some real shit, this was back in the "freestyle "days and Solomon wrote and recycled lines from previous battles, through in a couple of fresh bars in the beginning and called it a verse, thesaurus freestyled his shit and was the toughest opponent hes ever faced- he had him shook! thesaurus has hone on to become a champ and is sicker than ever, the outcome today would be quite different, respect to both
so much energy back in Jumpoff days
thesaurus is way better now and so is iron solomon so if they battled again it would be historic
Thesaurus was clearly freestylin' and had just finished battlin' other dudes, Solomon's was written except a rebuttal or two. Hard to beat a written with a freestyle.
Solomon is sick but why is he forever feeling up Thesaurus and when he got aggressive Solomon got defensive aha
Thesaurus should have snuffed him!
I cant wait for new Iron Solomon or Pat Stay battles

Cody Allen. It's not even battle rap when there's no beat, and fools have a month to memorize pre-writtens.
Cody Allen diz is just ok? ur tripping.diz is way better than any of the rappers you just named
Well....saurus was already there battling in spin the mic (along with Nocando, Illmac, Quest McCody, Whathisface etc)...and solomon is from NY....
okay thank you. So was this a $100 bet?
thesaurus when he freestyles he says "all i kno is that" alot
solomon is probably the best rap battler ever
Solomon is a battling BEAST!!! he can spit written or off the top of the dome spontaneous freestyles...he's clever or shit
Word fam he did that a lot it wasn't just writtens
as someone who raps its funny cause almost everyone has a got to phrase they say while theyre thinkin to prevent stumblin...like dumbfoundead says "Got Dayum!!!" and the saurus says "all i know is that" and he was fuckin up bad cause he said all i know is that at least 15 times soooooooooo yeah got dayum lmao

"we both lost to justice at scribble but atleast mine was debatable" thesaurus should have won.
its a shame iron disturbed thesaurus's flow in 2nd round, it made him drop into pure filler after that
stop saying one is better than the other, theyre both dope ass rappers. and deserve MAAAAD respect.
Saying which ones better is the whole point of a battle tho
all i know is dat . . solomon was obviously flustered lmao cuz he was losin'
@boobooheadjr show some respect for thesaurus off the top, and Solomon is a legend

This was definately 1 of the best rap battles Ive ever seen, that what I used to think. I don't think that's changed either
neff dawg no need for a rematch any new rapper could beat this guy shit my mom could out rap thesaurus...
"all i know is"
is that really all you know?
finally some mutual respect
yo is that Ali G in the beginning, shits to funny

c'mon dawg yeah you cant handle the breath?? thesaurus too funny
wtf are yall talking about, in 05 iron got to the final round and thesaurus only got to the 3rd, but neither one won the whole thing
@islandwarrior16 yea fam I feel you. I just hate how there
are very few artists out there that can actually freestyle.
solomon didn't even have to rap, that 12 year old cap on pete's head lost the battle for him.jokes aside, obvious win for iron.
freestyle vs written
These clowns make me laugh...its funny how now days every nerd wants to be a battle rapper....thanks Eminem
Wait, he flew to NY for a chance to win $100?
It's all practically written but actually not. there isn't a fine line between the speaking of the mind
yu named your self thesaurus but needed a dictionary ta spell it rite...... solomon killed his ass
both of these battle emcees are defeated by having to spit more than one verse.
We all know what Honey I shrunk the kids was about.. TIME. lol
Kept pressing him about his writtens Sourus is the truth 👏
