Been prepping my fossils from around here by hand in Florida (limestone usually) but this video was very helpful and to the point ! Well done and very helpful
For water use a 2 liter bottle with a hole about 1/2 way down. With your rinse basin you can work over top of it when you're ready to work loosen the lid until you get the flow needed. This will last 7-8 min. And cost nothing.
Hey I would love to hear more , I have found an Abundance of different Brachiopods and Trilobites primarily , but also Others Teeth , Bone and Soamy more I've yet to even remotely categorize yet . Thank You
I have a Mosasaur tooth incased in a bit of limestone where you can see the majority of the fossil without having to drill, but the limestone keeps leaving little dust particles whenever I set it down anywhere. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I'm mostly just wanting to have it sit on my desk for display if that factors into anything. TIA!
2liter bottle drill small hole in upper side. Fill with water if u loosen cap on bottle water will come out of hole u drilled. U can see this on pinertest
Zsolt Talloczy thanks a lot. Since then I have gotten a house and started working in my garage with open doors and windows so it’s going well. Working on a lot of new videos.
Water only erodes limestone over long periods on time. Putting water on your limestone or fossil will not harm it unless the specimen's shell is flakey and fragile.

I prefer a Dremel engraver over a rotory tool as it works more like the professional air scribe that they use in labs.

That's even better than my idea of using the pump from a cheap desktop fountain and aquarium air line tubing! I'll have to give it a go! thanks

Thanks for the tips!!
I found a brachiopod and I’m worried if water is gonna damage it
How about a water bottle, aquarium hose, a clamp for a gravity drip system for water system?
Great video, thanks! I would suggest, face mask, working in open air or under a vacuum hood. Not in your living area.

That mask isn't enough to prevent silicosis by the way, you want a good sealing p2 mask.
Is your Dremel tool a drill where the bit goes round or does the tip vibrate like an engraving tool
Dremel spin like a drill. I prefer an engraver.
thank you now i know how
I have three fossil and ancient wood. I have Pink Gastropod, a Ray Tooth, a Shark Vertebrae and Petrified wood
How do you polish a Belemnite ?
Please answer
how do you get fossles out of hard great lake limestone, this stuff si so damn hard nothing seems to work short of a hammer.
sans dremel as i cannot afford one of those by far.
Is the water going to be damaging to my limestone?

Gloves why
@Dick Thick'em 🖕🏾
Should have a mask for sure, better than the sar's mask
watering system = 5 gallon bucket and a small diameter hose. Total noob doing prep. Do it like this if you want to destroy your specimen.
