They've a wonderful temperament. When we first got ours, he was full-grown & we thought he'd outgrown barking. After a few weeks he barked once at a repairman.
I have lived with three different shepherd dogs. A 'regular' german shepherd, a longhaired german shepherd and a white swiss shepherd. The regular one was the smartest dog we ever had. Also the most daring, by a mile. The longhaired one was actually very quite, but the hair, OMG. He was basically a small bear and yes did I feel safe when he came out of the bushes when I (19F) was walking in the forest with our pug and a strange man tried talking to me before quickly walking away. And when he was bit my mom (a vet) took him to her clinic for stitches and he just layed there while she was doing her job stitching. So much trust. Shepherds are great

Mine must be broken. 😂 She is NOT interested in balls, only barks when there is an intruder in the back yard (usually my parents when they pull in my driveway), isn't helpful (is wary of any long item in my hand, something happened to her in the past?), doesn't get zoomies (will get excited about going for a walk), most shedding takes place in a couple of one month periods, and is only sometimes in my personal space. literally all of this normal (and common) for almost all dogs in existence everywhere. Now : they all have their own, personal character but all of them share all of these traits. They are general dog traits.
I got my long haired GSD when she was three, and have had her for eight years. Mine must be broken. 😂
She is NOT interested in balls, only barks when there is an intruder in the back yard (usually my parents when they pull in my driveway), isn't helpful (is wary of any long item in my hand, something happened to her in the past?), doesn't get zoomies (will get excited about going for a walk), most shedding takes place in a couple of one month periods, and is only sometimes in my personal space. She is a really chill GSD.
They are very cute 😍 ☺️ 💕 😊 ❤️ 💖
I have a black GSD. If you get out a broom or the vacuum cleaner, he wants it!
"I spend weeks spreading shedding hair and Milkbone fragments around this place, and you want to CLEAN it up!
