Have you guys thought about taking the Badger up Sani Pass into Lesotho? It’s a super cool trip to do in a 4x4, and Sani Mountian Lodge’s Highest Pub in Africa could be cool content! 😜

How Far From Home Yeah, think it will be totally fine! Raining a lot lately - so plan for closer to winter time so it will be more dry 😊 The views at the top are incredible, and you can see the winding road you’ve accomplished which is super! Also - Sani Lodges Breakfast spread was friggen’ amazing when we were there! Not sure how COVID has affected anything up there but we can’t wait to go back. We’re in Nottingham Road at the mo 😁 but baking from home for now 🍪🍞🥖🥯
And the view out of the rooftent is also a important one

Love the video! Loads of info I couldn't find on other videos, that I found in yours :) Still really interested in seeing how you pack the back of the Jimny or if you have any kind of draw systems? trying to figure out what the most efficient way of doing it is.
Sorry we missed this😐 Appreciate the comment. With regards to packing at the back we mostly just use our FR Wolf Packs and we tie them down with the stratchets. We thought about a drawer system but haven't felt the need for that yet.
The max roofweight jimny= 60 kilos, is ment during driving! When you stand its more. If you want to rise the max roofweight, you have to use an exo skelettonroofrack

Hi folks, loving the journey so far. Got a couple of questions.
How tall are you both, just wondering re the awning height as I can see you got nicely under standing up? :) it would be cool to see how the quick latch works too taking the awning off and on.
How do you access the tire wrench in case of punctures/ does the back floor fold up? Cool idea!
Hey thanks for following along. I’m 178cm and we can adjust it so it’s higher than me. The latches are pretty simple but the awning will be more difficult to remove the first time as it gets a bit stuck... but once your taken it off the quick mount once it’s easy! The back doesn’t fold up and the wrench sits under it close the the front seats. Hope that helps

Great video! I was just wondering if the extra weight on top affects the Jimny’s off-roading capabilities at all?
Thank you! We think it does, although we aren't sure how much yet as we haven't done much off-roading. It does make the car slightly top heavy but we're in the process of upgrading some features on the car to help with this. More to come about that in future videos. Thanks for watching
without a coil and shock upgrade then yes... it will have some roll on corners and obstacles
Great little 4x4 I’m look to get one ,do you notice and extra sway with the roof top tent or drag on the highway also do you have the weight of the tent and the roof rack
Hey Geoff! Yes we do notice a sway and the shocks we have put in (see latest video) are a must. The tent is 43kg and the rack is 31kg, so it’s a lot of weight up top

The roof load limit on a Jimny is 30kgs while moving....
Did you think about building a custom made trailer? Lightweight, single axle, hot dipped galvanised, and mounting the tent on top of the trailer? With a drawer style fibreglass drawers inside, lockable? Im sure its quite cheap to set up, and lightweight? you could of course go for dedicated off road trailers but they cost a ton and weigh in well over a ton
to be honest that is something we would look at doing in the future but we really like the setup now

Gosh, this is really so amazing. You guys are selling me more and more on it. I love the practicality of it. I am a bit worried about the wind blowing the vehicle around while I'm driving. That scares the living daylights out of me.

Hey Sam! Thanks so much. To be honest it was also a bit scary at first but you get used to it 😅 We are obviously careful when driving. That being said we are doing some upgrades that will help the swaying of the car which we will show in Part 2. Thanks for watching bud

What ever you do add 15 k for new shocks as they are crap ones that are standard.
Nice build though you definitely need a suspension and tyre upgrade, it's like driving a while different car I opted for the old man emu full kit
definitely needs the suspension kit upgrade... still not sure why Suzuki sell an off roader with those horrible coils and shocks, the Jimny coils are infamous for collapsing after just a few weighted loads and those shocks are not off road shocks, they are a disaster. You are right though, after the suspension upgrade the Jimny is a completely different vehicle, I went with Amada Extreme shocks and coils but Old Man Emu is also great

How is rooftop tent and rack and is it not overkill for Tiny Jimny? Is it suit in any weather conditions? And you still driving Jimny????
the rooftop tent is not overkill if you decide to get your Shocks replaced. The tent is good for all weather. Yup we are still driving the Jimny but took off the Rooftop tent as we have not been camping in a while. It can be put on with a few people quite easily 👍

how much does the roof tent weigh and whats its dimensions. and has it done any damage to the roof as suzuki says the roof will only hold 30kgs. thanks new Jimny owner got mine on the 07/06/24 brand new and its the 5 door. regards Mike J

Hi there, I fitted a Frontrunner tent to my Jimny last week. Are you guys able to fit basic sleeping stuff like pillows, sleeping bags etc. in the tent and then close it up? We struggle to close the tent with only 2 sleeping bags left on the mattress?
Hey! No we have to keep all the sleeping gear except the bed sheet in the car cabin with us.
@@HowFarFromHomeChannel thanks. The lack of space for bedding sort of defeats the purpose of a rooftop tent. I had the same problem with our Echo offroad trailer and had a new "higher" cover made. I am going to do the same with the rooftop tent. We only want to use the tent when wild camping in Botswana in unfenced camps. There is no time or space for removing and storing the bedding when getting up in the mornings and going on a game drive.

@@HowFarFromHomeChannel I want to finalize planning and measurements and once I have had one made, I will let you know how it works out. I am planning to have mine made in a dark gray or charcoal color. Our Jimny is also white and most of the accessories and attachments are either charcoal or black. You guys are also down in the Western Cape?

Did you consider taking extra fuel?
My biggest concern with this roof rack, as you mentioned, is the limited space in front of the tent.
Which would mean a Jerry Can would have to go somewhere else, likely inside the cabin which isn't ideal.
Your thoughts on that?
Also, your current weight is 43kg (tent) + 27kg (rack) + 12kg (awning). How does the extra 82kg feel i.t.o. driving?

We haven't considered taking extra fuel yet as we always plot the fuel stations before leaving and have not ventured too far out into the wilderness :) - As for the extra weight, yes we have considered new suspension as we think it's essential. Hi there, we spoke at length with the Frontrunner guys and they assured us that it could take the weight so we went with it. Worked out well
Do you guys carry gas for the car in case it runs out?
Nope. We normally plot our route, marking gas stations along the way and that has worked well so far. If we plan to do more of an off the beaten path trip we will consider it

Hi! I'm sure you can but we would have no idea. Once the roof rack is on it would not be possible
Back side roof rack , front side open roof .... best of both worlds .

I understood that the roof of the Jimmy was not suitable to bear any more than 36kg in total weight
We have also heard this but we haven't had a problem as of yet or seen any signs of roof damage

Hi. Magic video. It’s pathetic that shocks have to be changed. My 2020 sways bad just with 3 people in it. Advice I got was to change shocks. So I must throw 15k at a new car. That’s poor quality from Suzuki
