I'm an SE and the mentioned points are very relevant for the interview process. Going ahead and preparing the questions to ask the recruitment team is very important too, because remember it is a two way evaluation opportunity.
Pravin told me his story one night over dinner, and it was super inspiring. Looking forward to linking up with him in person again! Glad he shared it on this episode! 😃
Thank you. Very informative content. While watching your videos, I always had this question: Is there any difference between Software Sales Engineer and Software PreSales Engineer?
Howdy! I'm actually prepping for an interview to move from inside sales engineer to a field sales engineer. Do you have any thoughts on what I could expect?
Hi Michael, I do have a course that is all about that, but you should have a leg up since you're already an inside SE. Are you interviewing for the same company? There will most likely be a lot of interviews. The account managers might have some concerns about "Field Experience" which you will have to alleviate. There most likely be a demo at the end which you will need to ace, especially if you're already working on the product. This is very general since I don't know you're exact situation, but let me know if you have any questions.
You will have to find a Sales Engineering job that matches the skills you have as a SWE, which right now, many should. You need to connect with as many people as possible in the SE world and apply to as many jobs as possible. If you are looking for more help, check out the website wetheses.com or teach out to me on Linkedin (Ramzi Marjaba)
I don't have a lot of experience with that level, but I'd assume it's similar with a bit more leeway. The focus would be more on the personality, if the person is coachable, and if the person would fit into the organization. I hope that helps.
I'm prepping by watching a million videos and taking notes! Thanks for this 👍🏼
I'm glad you found it useful :)

@@WeTheSalesEngineers the interview went very well. I’m moving forward to meet with some additional people. Looks very promising so far.
@@WeTheSalesEngineers who knows maybe you’ll interview me one day.
How can I make the switch from SWE to SE? I feel like I would be a better fit as a SE.

Thank you again for all these videos. Especially this one. How about interviews for “Associate” level Sales Engineers?
I don't have a lot of experience with that level, but I'd assume it's similar with a bit more leeway. The focus would be more on the personality, if the person is coachable, and if the person would fit into the organization.
I hope that helps.
