      Nobody actually wants an OG 1+ style device in the current landscape IMO. Nowadays the camera quality, which is the one thing lacking in all flagship killers, is one of the most important specs when considering a phone- otherwise you'd see $500 motorolas, which are essentially flagships with budget cameras, being overwhelmingly popular, and yet, when was the last time you've seen someone with one?

    • @Tride_gaming
      @Tride_gaming ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@airshaped ya know.. i think the picture quality thing is overrated. i loved my google pixel 2 (12.2 mp) and i'm still using my samsung s9 (12 MP) . i don't need a 108 MP camera. And most people don't need it. how many times do you take a picture with your phone that you have to scale to such a degree that the "detail" in the photo matters that much that a 12MP camera doesn't cut it . I hate having to pay in performance for that 1 feature that nearly nobody really needs.

    Differentiating based on design. I feel like that's what Essential tried to do, with the ceramic/titanium, square industrial design and the first notch (beating Apple to the notch and bringing back the square edges). It also promised to be different (maybe a gimmick) with the accessories using the connectors on the back but those never came either.

      Unfortunately the Apple Watch wouldn't work with the Nothing Phone. If you are an iOS user and I to that ecosystem it's probably not worth switching but that is a personal decision. It would be interesting if Apple opened the Apple Watch to Android, even if there was some decrease in function (similar to using a Wear OS watch with iOS). I don't think they would lose iPhone sales but might increase their revenue with the watch.

    What could make a quite a stir would be selling top spec phone with several SoC options because other companies when they decide to step down with the SoC, they usually cheap out on other stuff too (display, charging capability, camera, storage, USB protocols), because it's a good way to justify the huge price bumps. It's not that I hate 778G, but it really bugs me there's no SD7G1 or SD8G1 option because at this price range, I expect this phone to be mediocre at anything what comes up to my mind. OnePlus gave you the best SoC at least.

    If the biggest tech TH-camr in the world can't be trusted to accurately apply a dbrand skin, how can the average buyer? Sure, it's just a sticker, but if they think it takes an expert hand to do it right, it riases the question of whether it's really a practical product for the average user.
