At the price of the 5800x3d i would prefer to just buy a 7600 build because 7600 is as fast as the 5800x3d and cost 200 AUD cheaper. Main reason why is because am5 isnt a dead platform. What i will do though is buy a 5500 and sell the ryzen 5500, rx 580, and 16gb ddr4. Should help me pay for the new build.

5800x3D did do better than my 5800x and 5900x but I only used it for a month before realizing I can go AM5 for basically the same price and performance. I’m not scared of the process to swap out cpu,mb and ram. I might have to buy another $20 windows license but I just take pics of my hardware , software screens of it working, download all the new drivers, uninstall all the current drivers. Swap hardware out , load drivers and then sell off old parts. Out of pocket cost easily under $100.
This really helped me. Im on the AM4 platform and been debating on upgrading my CPU but didnt know which to go for. And aren't AMD supposed to be releasing some new CPUs on AM4 soon?
5700X is an excellent gaming CPU for the majority of games. However, if you play competitive esports titles you might find some value in a faster CPU. My pick for AM4 upgrades would certainly be the 5700X3D over the 5800X3D as it's significantly cheaper for similar gaming performance.
For those on a budget but want the best they can get and cannot upgrade at all until 2026/27 I actually still recommend the 5800x3d over am5. They don’t plan on upgrading until am6 is out and at times the 5800x3d has been as low as 270 at microcenter new when bought with a mobo and ram. Slap a peerless assassin on it and it’s golden.
Currently I'm using a Ryzen 3 3300x (stock cooler), MSI B450 Pro VDH Max Mobo, 32 GB (4*8 GB) DDR 4 3200 MHz RAM, GTX 1660 Super & 550 Watts PSU. Possible upgrade paths: 1. Ryzen 7 5800x3D, Deepcool AK 620 cooler, carry forward the Mobo & RAM, Radeon RX 7800 XT & 850 Watts PSU. Total Cost = $ 1163 (approx). 2. Ryzen 5 7600, Deepcool AK 620 cooler, 32 GB DDR 5 6000 MHz CL30 RAM, Gigabyte B650 Gamig X AX Mobo, Radeon RX 7700 XT, 750 Watts PSU. Total Cost = $ 1215 (approx). Note - I stay in a warm climate country (45° C in Summer) so the stock cooler won't cut it for 7600 or above. Which path should I take considering the costs are similar. The primary purpose is gaming.
I'd advise going on AM5 if you want to play resource intensive games or productivity task. However if you aren't then path 1 is a good path. If you want to play any game then path 2. The RX 7700 XT is a powerful 1440p capable GPU that can run 1440p 60 FPS on high to ultra settings. Regarding this though, the RX 7800 XT is a powerful 1440p or 4K GPU and can run 1440p on highest settings with no problems. It may also do 4K gaming but I advise not to
Rockin a 5600x with a 4080, works great with my 4k 60hz monitors. Although debating a final upgrade of the 5800x3d or 5900x since raytracing seems to need a bit more horsepower
I'm stuck on am4 until I get the savings to do a full new build just upgraded to ryzen 9 and 32gb of ddr4 ram so not planning to switch anytime soon. Though when I do I'll probably just use the old parts to build my brother a computer.
7600x are usually $200 on sale with a hair better avg performance than a 5800x3D so 7600x and 32gb of DDR5 is the same price of the 5800x3D. Sell off old AM4 combo to pay for the board easily. Same price to go AM5. 50003D chips are good if you can get them around $150 or if you suck on PC hardware and don’t want to hassle with it because it’s a big task to do so for you.
when i first built my pc i had a lian li case (which i’m thinking about switching), z690e motherboard, 32gb of ddr5 corsair ram, 1tb NVMe drive, i7 12700k, and a coolermaster cpu cooler and an 850w psu ……the only problem was i was part time at the time of building it so i had to save money for a graphics card….sooo i may have used a..GTX 760 for the time being until i was able to get a 3060ti a month later and now a 4070 in the last few months….yikes…
Yeah the 5800X3D isn't dropping in price anytime soon because it's the best gaming GPU on am4 which allows for a lot of overall savings to upgrade an existing am4 build. Since lack of DDR5 is the only real limiting factor of the platform right now, it's going to be a while before switching to am5 or an Intel 12+ cpu becomes a real necessity.. X3D can handle I think up to a 4080 without noticeable bottlenecking. Probably the 4090 would be bottlenecked a bit, but at that point who's paying for 4090 and not a 13700+ or a top 3 am5 cpu🤷
I 4k Raytracin ultra with it so im happy with the 5800X3D. can be whatever. Cyberpunk and hell divers like at a weird ultra quality graphics is like 60 fps. If i wanna lower it i can get worse quality but like 150 plus fps.
Currently using a Ryzen 5 3600 + RTX 4070 combo on a B450i Motherboard. Last night I ordered the Ryzen 7 5700X instead of the 5700X3D because the 5700X3D is 55% more expensive right now. The 7700 XT is pretty good. But the 3070 Ti will be limited by its 8 GB of VRAM. I'd probably just recommend an RX 6800 or a 3080 if your budget and location suits you For the CPU, its good

Is good for everyone with an am4 platform and isn't planning on a full upgrade soon, i think with a 5700x3d or a 5800x3d you can wait even 2 more years before do a full platform upgrade, so 200€ for a 5700x3d are a good investiment for a 2 years upgrade....
Love your content Zach im new to pc building what do you think is the best GPU for Ryzen 7 7700x
For me i use the ddr and am4 platform since 2017 or so. If i where to build new i would switch to ddr5 and newest socket intel or amd doesn't matter. But amazing cpu for the am4
My current Windows PC has an Asus X570 Mobo, 5800x3D, 32Gb 3600Mhz ram, 4TB of Nvme drive and a 7900xt. It does everything I need for the foreseeable future. I don't game much any more and this PC will last me a long time.
Oooh lord, thank you so much. I was planning to upgrade to that CPU (RTX 2080 Ti & R5 5600x 1080p) but didn't know if it was worth it. Thanks mate
Just got my 5800x3D for £230 for my current AM4 build 🔥
got 5800x3d from ebay for 230, been using it for about 10 months now, not even thinking about moving to am5
I recently purchased parts for an AM4 combo. Too bad I didn’t watch this beforehand. 😂
You’re fine bro. Don’t worry
X3D is the goat for gaming performance but the price is not cheap though 😢😢😢
You want better performance you spend more money
i think im going to buy that 1000$ pure performace build you made :D
I went AM4 for my first ever build ryzen 9 5900x 3060 dual oc with lian li water cooler AIO
Went with a 5700X 3D because I already had an RX 7700 XT on a B550 so this is the last upgrade on the system.
I sold my 5700x and bought 5800x3d three months ago and i can't be more happy about this..i don't plan to change the mobo in the near future :)
5800x going strong with the 6600 ngl, Ik the gpu could be better but I rma'd the 3060ti atleast twice. 6600 and new 1440p montier, still running high/ultr on most games (yes even cyberpunk just no raytracing) and getting some fucking amazing fps.
Instructions unclear, I bought an Amd Ryzen 4070
Aaaahh i went am4 a year go and got the 5800x3d. Excelent cpu for game 😎
I had to go for the 5900X for a brand new build because there was no AM5 cpu available with the same level of performance
Would love one of these CPUs as i have a b450 tomahawk but 5800x3d is 520 AUD which is almost 350 USD. 5700X3D is only 390 AUD or 257 USD is such a better price. Should help me pay for the new build.
i only upgrade once every 7-8years, ssd and gpu are the only things that i change over the years once within that 7-8year span..... for a new build he is right, just go with am5 if you are building $1000+ but below that go with am4
I’m building my new pc and I got the Msi 650 pro motherboard with the ryzen 5 7600x with the 7800xt gpu so I think I’m good for quite a few years before I have to upgrade to anything else.
I bought the 7800x3d for 389 and to pay close to the am5 price for a last gen processor is crazy
If only GPUs had 2016 prices... Imagine a 4090 for 800$
@@TheAtomoh I like how they say "Well graphics cards have become more powerful" to justify the price when the high-end graphics cards back then were also powerful for their time.
You cant really compare 4090 to 2016 price since 90 class GPU didn't exist back than@@TheAtomoh
@@XeqtrM1 gtx 690: "Am i a joke to you?" And that gpu is ever older than 2016
Should I get the ryzen 3 4100 or the i3 10100f
5800x3D did do better than my 5800x and 5900x but I only used it for a month before realizing I can go AM5 for basically the same price and performance. I’m not scared of the process to swap out cpu,mb and ram. I might have to buy another $20 windows license but I just take pics of my hardware , software screens of it working, download all the new drivers, uninstall all the current drivers. Swap hardware out , load drivers and then sell off old parts. Out of pocket cost easily under $100.
Already saving up for a X-570 ROG Hero Maximus AM4
CAD = $1100
Why would you buy a AM4 motherboard if you have that kind of money
For a gaming pc can you pair the Ryzen 5 7600x with the rx 6700 xt? Can you please make a video about this. 🙏
After my 6 yo 2600x ( 24/7 oc @1.55v ) died , I’ve replaced it with a 5950x on a b350 . Best upgrade , but im limited to 144w take care !
everybody upgrades to am5. used the cpu 190 euro, 50 euro for am4 mainboard and 20 euro for 32gb ddr4 ram (4×8gb) is common in used market.
I have the 5800x3d+6900xt on a b350 ASUS mb and getting over 200fps in warzone 1440p
This really helped me. Im on the AM4 platform and been debating on upgrading my CPU but didnt know which to go for. And aren't AMD supposed to be releasing some new CPUs on AM4 soon?
do you think it's worth upgrading from a 5700x to one of the x3d chips? i play on 3440x1440 ultrawide and may consider upgrading my 3070 gpu first.
5700X is an excellent gaming CPU for the majority of games. However, if you play competitive esports titles you might find some value in a faster CPU. My pick for AM4 upgrades would certainly be the 5700X3D over the 5800X3D as it's significantly cheaper for similar gaming performance.
Bro tip: if you plan to build a mid range pc, go for AM4. You'll save like +200 bucks instead of it AM5 counterpart
even then id still just plan out and just buy the 7600 and use the 100 bucks to go towards for your new motherboard youre going to need
Your boy Ryzen 5 7500f can definitely do the job. Plus it's future proof.
What I have in my build
Amd real care about customers❤
Possible upgrade paths:
It may also do 4K gaming but I advise not to
For 350 you can go to micro center and get the motherboard and ram with the cpu
Rockin a 5600x with a 4080, works great with my 4k 60hz monitors. Although debating a final upgrade of the 5800x3d or 5900x since raytracing seems to need a bit more horsepower
Pairing a 5600X with a 4080? That's probably a bottleneck bound system
@@ImJustSomeoneNamedLucas not really when using at 4k
I'm stuck on am4 until I get the savings to do a full new build just upgraded to ryzen 9 and 32gb of ddr4 ram so not planning to switch anytime soon. Though when I do I'll probably just use the old parts to build my brother a computer.
you convinced me to change from an intel 15 12600K to the AMD Ryzen 5 7600
quick tip, go to micro center and get the 5800X3D, cpu motherboard, and ram combo for only $350
It pairs with a gigabyte rx 6800xt 16gb gpu, 32gb corsair c16 3600mhz memory, 5000x corsair case and corsair aio 115i cooler
Some says ddr5 has a problem especially the AM5😊
7600x are usually $200 on sale with a hair better avg performance than a 5800x3D so 7600x and 32gb of DDR5 is the same price of the 5800x3D. Sell off old AM4 combo to pay for the board easily. Same price to go AM5. 50003D chips are good if you can get them around $150 or if you suck on PC hardware and don’t want to hassle with it because it’s a big task to do so for you.
Got mine on deal for $225 nice cpu
Fantastic deal! Where did you find it? Picked up mine this week for $230 USD. You can’t go wrong with that price!

Perfect answer
I would recommend it only for an upgrade not for a brand new PC.
when i first built my pc i had a lian li case (which i’m thinking about switching), z690e motherboard, 32gb of ddr5 corsair ram, 1tb NVMe drive, i7 12700k, and a coolermaster cpu cooler and an 850w psu ……the only problem was i was part time at the time of building it so i had to save money for a graphics card….sooo i may have used a..GTX 760 for the time being until i was able to get a 3060ti a month later and now a 4070 in the last few months….yikes…
If i wanna lower it i can get worse quality but like 150 plus fps.
lol it’s funny seeing this after I got a 7800X3D a couple weeks ago
Currently using a Ryzen 5 3600 + RTX 4070 combo on a B450i Motherboard. Last night I ordered the Ryzen 7 5700X instead of the 5700X3D because the 5700X3D is 55% more expensive right now. I play on a 1440p monitor mostly with Triple A titles and some multiplayer games like COD and Dota 2. Did I make the right choice? Love your channel btw.
Having 4080 super with 5800x3d with 3800mhz 16cas at 3440 1440 both optimal and ultra settings it DOESN'T GIVE ME BOTTLE
Man, I cant decide. Have the 3700x with 16 GB RAM.
Dunno if I should go with 7800x3d+32gb ram or upgrade to 5700x3d +32gb ram for 300 bucks. The 5800x3d costs the same as 78003dx here. 😢
Should I get the 7800x or something under that for 1440 RPG games looks is everything I don’t really need performance just great looks
How do you feel about running DDR4 with a 40 series gpu?
Why not
Lol what's wrong with it 😂.
What is the best cooler for I9 13900k and rtx 4090
Hi Zach. I live in Europe and a I do pc flipping. The problem is that I cannot find any fishtank like cases like the DIY Q3. What cases do I need to choose for the best aesthetics??? Love your videos.
I have the 5600x3d it rips in City Skylines 2.
last year i went from a i7 4790k to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D and i couldn't wait for AM5 and tha clockspeeds tha DDR5 ram situation is atm imo is way to low for longevity and DDR4 is way cheaper
If you already have decent AM4 why not? AM4 with minimum future upgrade last almost five years until AM5 beat the performance.
I plan on finishing my pc build resell it then build a am5 pc
Day 2 of asking to check the 1060 since it's still pretty good and too many people think it's ass
Day 1 of asking: can you build the best pc for only 1300 and the best monitor for 300?
Just go for an i5 13600k it's the best and most future proof cpu because it's the only cpu in the 13th gen line-up that has a massive performance boost compared to the i9 of the 13th gen that only gets 6% more performance in games compared to the i5 according to user benchmark
Is the 12600k + 3070 ti/ 7700xt a good combo
I’m a new pc builder who hasn’t really done anything before, and this is for a budget of about $1000
The 7700 XT is pretty good. But the 3070 Ti will be limited by its 8 GB of VRAM.
I'd probably just recommend an RX 6800 or a 3080 if your budget and location suits you
For the CPU, its good
hmmmmmm Idk
Just was thinking about going for a ryzen 5 7600x build with rx 7900gre build 💀💀
I just want a 24gb ram kit (2x12) because anything over 32 is a bit overkill in my opinion.
Ummm, no
32 is enough trust me
