I always liked these cars! Especially the 05 and 06 with the larger engine, hood scoop and exhaust on both sides of the rear! I think they would have made great looking convertibles as well!
Indeed, I am glad I managed to find one! The 04s are still fun, but surprisingly plain. A convertible option would have been interesting! Might have made those rear seats a little more accessible, too!
For pretty much everything except ride smoothness and road noise, yes. I never took a test drive with just the bushings replaced, though, so some of that could be the stiffer spring I installed, but they are a little more harsh with those things regardless.
very lucky here in oz we have companies that make performance suspension parts for commodore, gto etc and they last three times longer than factory rubber crap, and the rear camber kit so you dont chew rear tyres and improve handling as well.dont know where you got those all ours come as one piece.
Just got a wheel alignment and the front washers are loose . Pull heavy to the left . I’m in Australia I think the wheel alignment was set and left to the dead shit apprentice to talk up. Thanks for the video. Going to tare my mechanic a new on tomorrow
Took mine to a local shop for all new shocks and struts and sway bar links also had them put new control arm bushings and strut tower bushings with new upper and lower ball joints after 400 miles on some rough roads it sounds like clunking and as if washers or keys are rattling took it back and they told me everything looked good and everything was tight i know my car i told them but they act as if idk but i know it ain't normal all i know is i ain't going back . Any idea what it could possibly be would really appreciate any help
If you are just replacing the bushing assembly with an original style replacement, you will probably be able to pull the part off and put the new one on, but I don't know how that would affect the torque on the nut on the other side of the rod. If you have the one like mine where the washers are used to adjust alignment, you will probably have to remove the rod. I forget how much room there was in there.
Thank you for your response. I did a little more searching and found another video. He seems to have done it with the radius arm in position. So that is what I will attempt to do. I will paste the video here just in case somebody else is ever in my position. Always good to have as much information as possible when you do not know what you are doing. th-cam.com/video/ZBfFNLfLg3o/w-d-xo.html
Yes most likely I have my gto taken apart and you cannot get the rod arm in position without removing most of the components this a video on how to if you have all apart there is no room to put both threaded ends without taking all apart just in case you guys need to know this video doesn't mention that it's just missing that part great video though.
Is this bushing responsible for the wobble of the steering wheel upon braking? I was checking my lug nuts the other day and when I went to tighten on the drivers side, the wheel rotated backwards about 1/2". Is that because of the factory filled bushing failing? My GTO has 100k miles so I know some things got to be changed, Thank you in advance!
Yikes, that's a lot of movement! I couldn't say for sure that's the problem, but it's quite likely and one of the first things I would check. Someone on TH-cam uploaded a video of a GTO with a bad radius rod bushing coming to a stop, and the wheels move backwards about that much, so I would definitely check them out. Due to the direction they would flex under braking, they will definitely affect stability under panic stops, likely along with a wobble/shudder.

still the best gto guide on here

Definitely looks shinier!
I heard replacing with poly bushings is the better option with these cars

My hoses are in the way I don’t have enough room on my passenger side to get any tool to losing the nuts what should I do

Any update on what it was?
did the links and not the sway bar d bushes sounds like.
Do i have to disassemble all the components like you did, or can i do it all with the tire and radius arm assembled like normal?

Can I get a part number please
How long do these replacements last??
not as long as pedder units.
