Two Congressional hearings on Capitol Hill over the summer addressed the safety issues and deadly crashes Boeing had in recent years.

It may be tempting, but it’s risky to assume that a software patch can make unsafe hardware safer. It’s better to design fail-safes into the hardware so that a software bug isn’t so catastrophic.
