    It always amazes me how a company can refund 7 to 10 business days yet they can whip it out of my account immediately

    • @UpYourArsenal
      @UpYourArsenal หลายเดือนก่อน +16

      It's never gone 'immediately' -- it takes 2-3 business days to approve every transaction you make (that is not cash* [edit])
      If they 'refund' (i.e. "pay") you immediately, and you contest the original charge, they're out double.
      It's 2-3 business days to process the transaction, and minimum 2-3 to verify you're making a legitimate claim to a refund, then 2-3 to issue the money back (same as the original transaction).
      None of this doesn't make sense, if you pause to think about how the systems are actually set up.

      That’s my problem right now I have 1375 dollars on credit that I have to use by sept 15 2024 but I don’t want to actually travel before that date. So basically either I use it or I lose it. All because I missed a connection flight due to a delay on the first flight and it was faster to have purchase another ticket than to wait over 24 hours for my flight. I had to fight for the credit as they wouldn’t refund (and it was their own delay). I always try to get direct flights but this was an emergency so I took whatever flights were available the quickest and ended up worst off.

Imagine the inconvenience a traveller has to go through to complete the travel buying an alternate ticket that would be much expensive since last minute purchase, delay and possibly missing a connection etc. Airline should refund 3 times the ticket price as a mandate for cancelled flights, or an alternate flight within 4 hours plus 25% of the ticket cost as a penalty.

    How about airlines going back to just letting you pick your seats for no fee? It feels like flying is becoming a thing only the wealthy can do again. It cost us almost $1400 for my husband, myself, and our toddler to pick our seats and ensure we'd sit together when we flew roundtrip from SLC to Houston for a family wedding. We even booked 4 months ahead of time. We didn't have that kind of money, but we wanted to support someone we love very much. Then we got to the airport only to find that we had to pay to check our carry-ons. So that was another $80 both ways. It's just ridiculous.

      I’ve driven cross country three years in a row and it was the best traveling I’ve done in many years. I left when I wanted to. I ate when and what I wanted to. I didn’t have to climb over strangers or wait in line to use a thimble sized restroom. I didn’t have to compete for space to stow my carry on. I didn’t have to smell the nauseating smell of various multiple cuisines clashing in a relatively small enclosed space. Best of all, I didn’t have to contend with rude humans who many times act like feral animals. Not to mention the reconfiguration of airline cabins. The new seats are narrower and closer together so if you’re larger than a 10 year old, the armrests dig into your waist/thighs and your knees are touching the seat in front of you. No thanks. I’ll drive and enjoy the scenery along the way to my destination. Truthfully, with the rising cost of airline tickets, and all the added fees and taxes, plus the cost of food or water both on the plane and in the airport, the costs incurred by driving aren’t all that much more than flying.

    I haven’t flown for many years, so it’s astonishing to hear that they were charging families ticket fees in order to be able to sit together. I’m call a flight. Our family took when our child was 18 months old and the airline had switched our seats and put us in separate seats on the flight that started 11 PM in the evening complained and asked for help on the issue to every single person with the airlines that I came across and everyone said oh they’ll take care of it on the plane. When I got on the plane, the flight attendant told me he couldn’t do anything to help me. I said if you can’t do anything who can? So then I took my daughter. My husband followed me, and we went over and sat down in the one location with 3 seats together, and I said “We’re not moving.” I knew in order to move ahead with this the way we needed for it to happen, I had to put the problem back on the airlines and not on me and my husband. Fortunately, there was a family of three adults who had planned to sit in those seats and when they saw what was going on, they quickly let us sit there. It was ridiculous that the airlines knew that they were gonna have a problem. They kept kicking them football down the field, knowing it was gonna be a disaster, but not caring in the least.

If you want to pick your seat or have a checked bag, buy a normal economy ticket or pay the fee. They always assign our seats together without even asking and never requested more money. Families always do with American Airlines, they have been amazing with their policy. Even Southwest has family boarding for free to keep families together. If you want a seat closer to the front or the more legroom, yeah you pay for that. Don’t order off the dollar menu and expect a filet mignon. Better example, don’t order a basic Uber and expect a Cadillac Escalade…
