As I watched this episode I literally said to myself “oh no…” Because I understood everything that was happening cause I read the manga but I knew immediately that because it was so fast and animated so weird a lot of people wouldn’t understand parts of the fight. And this proves it, you can hear a bunch of them say that they’re lost and don’t understand what’s happening but then go “this animation is crazy.”
As many of you may know, Yuji's grandfather and Jogo have the same voice actor. There is no underlying intention; it is just that Shigeru Chiba plays both roles, but the contrast between Jogo, who was somewhat recognized and rewarded by the King of Curses in the previous episode, and Yuji's grandfather, who died after leaving a curse for Yuji to save others, who was to become the vessel for the King of Curses, is a very sad cause and effect. I think I’m the only jjk fan in the world who actually liked the music playing here☠ It fit so well! It’s so cruel to Yuji playing that song especially with those lyrics at this moment, it’s like Sukuna is mocking him. especially in 20:37 Idc what anyone says, this shot with the distorted guitars in the back is fucking perfect. The lyrics: "Enjoy the moment, let's dance On the frontline of Tokyo, the thriving city Struggle on the verge of giving up Showme your fearless side"
Ya know at the season finale of Tokyo ghoul where they play the intro while Kaneki fights Jason? That works because the song fits the tone and vibe of that scene, it works well with a fight. And the in season 2 the do it again, but that time they used an acoustic version because it was a sad scene and THAT fit the tone and vibe. In the manga when Yuji is having his breakdown it feels so devastating because all we get is him and the aftermath, he’s alone and the silence works because it shows you just how alone he is. Sakuna just killed hundreds if not thousands of civilians while Yuji wasn’t in control. It’s a very dark, very serious, very depressing part of the manga and Yuji’s character fundamentally changes because of this event. Playing the opening while he’s having a panic attack and contemplating suicide is one of the biggest tone killers ever. It’s not a sad song, it’s a bop. It’s very heavily produced, it doesn’t fit the scene at all. It was a horrible choice and it would’ve been 100x more impactful to end the episode in silence. The fact that right after this they showed Nanami as a shock value episode closer- And that had NO music playing because they wanted everyone to really let it sink in that Nanami is fucked- Goes to show that they DO understand how to set up a scene for emotional impact. It was really dumb and really out of touch.

Literally "be sure to savour this" because after this episode the production of further episodes are on complete hault. The animators literally broke the 4th wall with this one, and people who knows what's going on, have surely noticed. I do not have enough words t oexpress my undying gratitude for the artists who put their whole being into each and every episode of Jujutsu Kaisen, I can only pray for them and hope they rise victorious and are granted much more humane conditions to work in and are not simply exploited like slaves. Because I understood everything that was happening cause I read the manga but I knew immediately that because it was so fast and animated so weird a lot of people wouldn’t understand parts of the fight.
And this proves it, you can hear a bunch of them say that they’re lost and don’t understand what’s happening but then go “this animation is crazy.”
People probably understand now why the Locust fight was the way it was 😂

Ya know at the season finale of Tokyo ghoul where they play the intro while Kaneki fights Jason?
That works because the song fits the tone and vibe of that scene, it works well with a fight.
And the in season 2 the do it again, but that time they used an acoustic version because it was a sad scene and THAT fit the tone and vibe.
In the manga when Yuji is having his breakdown it feels so devastating because all we get is him and the aftermath, he’s alone and the silence works because it shows you just how alone he is.
Sakuna just killed hundreds if not thousands of civilians while Yuji wasn’t in control.
It’s a very dark, very serious, very depressing part of the manga and Yuji’s character fundamentally changes because of this event.
Playing the opening while he’s having a panic attack and contemplating suicide is one of the biggest tone killers ever.
It’s not a sad song, it’s a bop. It’s very heavily produced, it doesn’t fit the scene at all.
It was a horrible choice and it would’ve been 100x more impactful to end the episode in silence.
The fact that right after this they showed Nanami as a shock value episode closer-
And that had NO music playing because they wanted everyone to really let it sink in that Nanami is fucked-
Goes to show that they DO understand how to set up a scene for emotional impact.
It was really dumb and really out of touch.

To add to this, the whole "You are my special" thing is said more in the context of "You are my plaything/toy" so it really feels like a reminder from Sukuna that you're never truly safe. Especially when you consider the pact he has with Itadori. (Yes I know how it ends up later)

I love how these guys who are reacting knows absolutely fuck-all about what's going on, it's like Gege directly holds a mirror to us and says "this is exactly how the people in Shibuiya are feeling", also that last face Yuji makes, completely void of any emotions, is also a direct reflection of the actal Animators at Mappa who are working 17 hours a day to bring us this ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE, the real lfe fight going on between the Animators of Mappa and the studio itself, is nothing short of a real life domain clash. Literally "be sure to savour this" because after this episode the production of further episodes are on complete hault. The animators literally broke the 4th wall with this one, and people who knows what's going on, have surely noticed. I do not have enough words t oexpress my undying gratitude for the artists who put their whole being into each and every episode of Jujutsu Kaisen, I can only pray for them and hope they rise victorious and are granted much more humane conditions to work in and are not simply exploited like slaves.
