The shortest I had is up to my ears but a choppy textured Bob as a south Asian I got a family member tell others I looked like a boy . I think I still looked very feminine and pretty if that was possible unless all my family friends and strangers were lying . I think the short hair cut garnered attention and I don’t like attention I’m socially awkward strangers were complimenting me.
Now I’m thinking of going for a pixie because im getting white hair and I use henna it’s just ticking me off the long process and money applying it to hip length hair. If it’s shorter it will be quicker and I’d be happier . I also want to go for a big transformation and more than a decade or hip length hair in a bun or Pony tail well I’ve had enough . It would be a bit of self care for me I spend more time braiding and styling my daughters hair and mine is done in 5 mins or less .

My mom didn’t want me cutting my hair short cuz her ideal look for me was traditional long asian black hair. I kept my hair long for years because of that. At the beginning of last year I cut it from chest length to a Ruby Rose style short short hair from John Wick 2. A bit after that I went for a Ruby Rose Orange is the New Black look.
I’ve been so much more happy and way more confident since getting my hair cut really short. I’m actually starting to like myself and it feels great. I’ve learned to ignore the comments from others too.

lol, same. used to live with my grandma and she looooves my hair so much she touches it more than I do. So when I moved in with my mom, I wanted to cut my hair like... really really short. Then we visited them for summer break and when she saw my hair she was like 😊☺️🤨😮😲😤😡😠😩. I felt bad but I did not regret it. Short hair just feels so good and refreshing.

Faleth Hmm that’s a tough situation to be in. Well try showing them pictures of female celebrities who have pixies. I did that, as well as I waited till I had my own money before getting my haircut. If my mom had anything to say about it I told her that hair grows back and I spent my own money on this so she can’t say anything about it. My mom gave me a death glare the first day I came home with really short hair lol, but after a while she got used to it and isn’t really surprised anymore when I go shorter.

I know some people still have old fashioned ideas, but I haven't been harassed yet, I have had a few stares, but most don't seem to care although it's only been a day tho. My teacher did ask where all my hair had gone and someone in my family joked, tho not in a mean way that I looked like a lesbian. I like it and have been complimented on it, although it is certainly a big change as my hair used to go to my mid-back. But I think people always will judge, whatever you do. Although this may be the London effect and the schools I go to in the sixth form consortium are pretty liberal, at least parli is and wouldn't have a problem with that.
I think with confidence you can rock almost anything. Also, I think it depends on what suits you. But it will grow back, even if it can take time and has an awkward stage.

Have to share after watching this. First of all I'm not a youngster like you all seem to be (I'm 68) but came to listen to the video because my hair is growing out after chemo so I'm hoping to get to the point where my hair is LONG enough to have a pixie. My husband loves me even though I now have only one breast and then I lost my hair. The doctor told me before my mastectomy that she knew of men that actually left their wife after she had to have a mastectomy so you have to really appreciate a man who still loves you for you and not what you have or don't have, such as big boobs and long flowing hair.....

that's interesting, I'm sure it looked great, Shorthair seems to have the opposite effect on me as a teen. I went to have calamari and a drink at the restaurant with my dad and at the end, they gave us both a shot glass of amaretto on the house, since it was a little glass and not too strong I was allowed to drink it. But they still don't know I was 16, not 18, the legal drinking age. LMAO
Edit: I should say I think I looked like I was in year 9 or year 8 (basically 13 or 14) rather than 16 when had long hair, although I did love my long hair as well. some people used to not believe at first that I was in sixthform and thought I was in the younger years doing GCSEs instead of ALevles lol. I just got my hair cut two weeks ago 😅 the first person told me last night he thought it looked bad, I wasn’t hurt but it was interesting! My boyfriend loves me with my short hair and when we talked about it he was so positive! He loves me through anything I want to do and its awesome ❤️ I felt all those things. My ex step father would make me have my hair short through middle school, he was very controlling.. I got to grow it out in 9th grade. You are so eloquent! I got my first pixie cut in 2009 when I was 14 and kept it up until 2016. After growing my hair for two years and having it reach bra strap length I got so bored. I just got my pixie cut again in April and it makes me feel more like myself 💇🏻♀️✨
Ive had mine since 2014 and cant bring myself to grow it out again. I tried for a year. And ended up hating it as it became a pain. So i chopped it off again

Loved this video! 2 years ago I cut my hair into a bob, I was scared of people’s opinions, I’m from a Mexican background and I totally get it.
My boyfriend at the time was so supportive that he even took me to the salon himself and surprised me by paying for it. 🙈 needless to say, he’s now my fiancé and we’re getting married this August.

I have my appointment next week, and my anxiety and excitement are over the roof. I've had long hair (from shoulder length to my butt) basically since I was five. I remember looking at short haired women and wishing I had the guts since I was 8. I recently had my hair cut into a lob and I feel it's not enough. Life is short as you said, and I can't wait to change it! Even if it means not having people compliment my "mermaid/Pocahontas hair". Thank you so much
I had an undercut for about two years and this year makes it three, all my friends kept asking whether i was going through some things and wasnt tlking about it.. some assumed i was gay, well everybody was questioning my sexuality, my Guy friends started treating me like a boy which was not a problem at all... and most of my girlfriends didnt wannA hang with me anymore... im not gay, but i just like what i like 😂 i personally just like doing things that make me feel good about myself 🤷🏾♀️

Over the years I have cut my hair shorter and shorter. My family is Cuban and they swoon over my long hair and I have ALWAYS hated it.
