    This is incredibly helpful. I wear a pixie cut because my hair is too fine and thin for anything longer. Fortunately it suits me, and now I know why. Thank you!

    Jenn, would you consider doing a video for those of us who are more mature? I have a long philtrum, almost white fine hair, and the top third of my face is only very slightly longer. I'd say I'm oval. We tend to get more wrinkles on our foreheads as we move through life. Have you ever seen 'baby bangs' or short wispy bangs combined with shoulder-length or longer hair? I'd love you to do some videos on silver-haired women and how their colors might change a bit and on hair, makeup etc. I've let my hair go natural since I was 28 and many of us are now naturally grey or silver. Most of the tips out there are around piling on the makeup. I'd like to see a more natural, beautiful approach. Thanks.

      I'd love to see where I can take this topic idea! I do have a video planned for this week around bangs and it will talk about different lengths of bangs as well as a "universal" style that works for most faces. I have seen baby bangs with longer hair (had them myself way back when 😅) but not on mature women! I also am planning on a makeup video with tricks for achieving a more natural look so stay tuned for it as well! In the meantime, if you have any specific celebs in mind that you'd like me to use as examples, please let me know here too :)

    This was actually very interesting. I have had a pixie cut for essentially my entire life. Cut my long hair short when I was 13 when my mom took me to her stylist and he said no that will not look good on you let me give you a cut that will. Traumatic for about three days but lol I have never gone back( now in my wisdom years) definitely have both those features you mentioned.

      Glad to hear you found my content interesting! Your stylist knew what he was talking about 💁‍♀️ awesome to hear you haven’t gone back on the decision since!! Wish I could pull off the pixie cut (I’ve tried and failed lol) - I’d definitely ditch the long hair if my facial features can handle a pixie!!

    Linda Evangelista is who comes to mind when I think of a Pixie.
    My Mother always chopped my hair into various styles of pixies as a kid, and it always made my high cheekbones look extra bony/prominent, and my face too gaunt looking.
    My face is oval, but evenly balanced. I tend to side part to lengthen it and my neck more(neck width is a handspan, but I like it looking longer).
    People keep telling me I should rock a pixie, but it looked so bad, it marred my opinion of it.

    Thank you so much for this video!! I’ve stumbled across you today and already you’ve helped me understand my olive skin tone and my face shape and how it might relate to a pixie cut. I’ve had pixie cuts and i almost always love them, some haven’t looked good but others look great, that being said I’ve had my fair share of negative feedback which has made me insecure about getting one again. I love them so much tho but I still want to try to be pretty… I have a slightly long Diamond face shape, although I’ve also been told heart shape, a long philtrum, the bottom 2/3 are slightly longer than the top… I’d love more examples like the Jamie lee Curtis for short hair that you showed in another video… basically showing exceptions to the usual rules for short hair

    You are showing me a totally new universe about face shapes, skin color and more. Would you considered making a video about mature women , white roots and dyed dark color hair, in need to go lighter without bleaching. Thank you. I am already a subscriber of your channel.

    Halle Barry looks so good in a pixie cut! So does Michelle Willaims. I think the pixies cut was a bad call for Anne Hathaway though.

    • @stylemejenn
      @stylemejenn  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think Anne looks okay with it! I like both long and short for her 🙂

    • @jakevendrotti1496
      @jakevendrotti1496 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Anne Hathaway's features are all very large, none of them are refined and small and pert. That's why the pixie didn't work on her. Her face appeared convex. But long hair looks beautiful on her. And long hair does nothing for Halle Berry, it drags her down, makes her invisible. To each their own, both beautiful ladies, and different.

    I have a larger top third and a long philtrum (I think I’m a heart shaped face but every hairdresser has given me a different analysis 😂). I did the pixie and loved it but got not so great feedback. Do you have any other hairstyles you would suggest for this scenario?

    • @stylemejenn
      @stylemejenn  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      There’s more features that could play a factor, like the length of the face and the length/shape of your neck. Lighter hair colour around your face can be another trick to bring less emphasis to your lower thirds!
      But if you loved the pixie cut you should rock it regardless!! 🥰❤️

    Oh my gosh! So interesting! I used to wear a pixie, and I would take Hallie's photo in as an example of what I wanted! I believe I have those characteristics, and I have been interested in doing the pixie again; however, I have always wondered a couple of things about me wearing a pixie - 1) I have gained weight, and I'm much older now - will it still flatter me?; 2) Is my nose too prominent?; 3) I have broad shoulders and always felt my head looked a little pin-heady when I wore a pixie. Is that a common concern?

    Great videos! I always wanted a pixie cut but I don’t know if it would work on my because I do have an oblong shape face and I feel some of my features ( nose) are dainty enough I do like my eyes and it is hair it could always grow back- I am in my early 50s with a slight double chin but I’m not heavy.. My favorite feature are my eyes and I have work a wedge/stacked bob when I was younger.. but I do love like a Halle cut or even Kris Jenner I think they both look great in thier pixies!

    • @stylemejenn
      @stylemejenn  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi - thanks for the comment! I’ve tried a pixie cut a long time ago and luckily it didn’t look bad on me, but it honestly is a big decision for sure!
      If you have a slight double chin a pixie cut might work because it will help with drawing the focus away from the chin area! Also, if your eyes are your favourite feature, a short haircut like a pixie cut definitely brings more attention to your facial features and could work in your advantage. I’d need to see the whole face to make a more accurate reco though! ❤️

    So I have a shorter philtru. I have big green eyes, all of them ...snd am 55 years young. I am pale skinned, have Indian type hair, have a small lower jW, arched eyebrows not madly arched, going grey cut my own hair, bleaching it my self blonde streaks, gone a bit wrong but very good effort. I cut my long dark browny black dyed hair off at 4 inches below the nape of my neck. No hairdresser wants to try and colour correct my hair and so I have bought a head shaver. I want a long floppy top and short back and sides. Hmm, will I look cutesome, younger, or Hitler youth? Tricky one. At least I can not have to pay a hairdresser colour erm expert to ruin what I have which is an a symetrical layer longer bob, I have streaked this hair 4 times, the longer right side is still containing the dark brown henna tint I hate Schwarzkoff tints now. I am going grey similar to you. Oh wish I had a great big chromium dome, just like Halie Berrie....😂 Nope...we don't all look like Hallie Berrie though. Problem? No. Just buy a zute suit, ❤

    @jakevendrotti1496 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Hm... Really disagree with all your points. Halle Berry's forehead counts yes, but it's a shorter philtrum that enables her to have the pixie successfully. And above all, it's the sides of her face being rather narrow. Every successful pixie cut is on a face with narrow, vertical lines. So although she is a triangle, where her cheekbones are the widest point, they're not that wide. This is also why she has the wisps of hair coming down on the sides, to cover those wider points. The other thing she has going for her is large eyes in proportion to her lips and mouth. Think about the distance between the eyes, and the corners of the mouth. All of these ladies have noses in proportion to their eyes and mouth.
    The mystery of why so very few women can pull off a pixie cut is not so much mathematical as it is purely intuitive though. And if you're going to get a pixie, you're going to have to wear makeup and feminine clothes, unless you're going for the Butch look. It's about balance.

    Oh well...now I'm sure my hairdresser is an idiot. Sorry, but that's how it is.
    Moreover, in my country, we don't really have a distinction between hairstylist, colourist and "hairdresser vulgaris" 😂
    I have similar face to Sarah Jessica Parker, just not that prominent nose (though still on the longer side, with straight bridge). I know I have oblong face, but my hairdresser obviously didn't get the memo. 😅
    Honestly, I'm lost...I have to binge watch all of your videos.
    And only then I'll beg for your help😉
    P.S. I had to come back and say that my face is oval...and long. With the longest part being my forehead.

    • @stylemejenn
      @stylemejenn  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I agree that hairstylists OR makeup artists aren't always the best at figuring out what works for you because they focus a lot on the technique of cut / application, etc. When I went to makeup school I felt like they taught us specific "formula" but never about what kind suits which types of faces...
