The "running in place" glitch mentioned at 2:03 is actually normal. Kirby can simply hold bombs with that ability, but when he pulls them out, the fuse is already lit. That panicy movement is a visual indicator that the fuse is getting short.
I guess the animation just never ends because the "bomb" he's holding never goes off.

The most fictional answer to the crash bomber enemy glitch is that Kirby suplexed the bomb so strongly the entire world gets destroyed from the explosion itself. But all we see is the game crashing and not the explosion.

5:27 The Wheelie sprite is glitched because the game thinks the helper is a Blade Knight, because you pressed A to summon the Blade Knight helper, but the scene is scripted to always spawn the helper and have it behave as a Wheelie. As a result, the game loads the Blade Knight sprite but uses the Wheelie palette.
So basically, there are two Helpers in play and the game gets confused because Kirby is limited to one Helper at a time, but as soon as Kirby lands on the Wheelie and starts moving, the game overwrites Blade Knight with Wheelie and then Wheelie becomes the active Helper, thus fixing the glitch. 🔧

Probably, although it'd have to be TAS. Seems too unreliable otherwise.
I don't think they'd accept it unless you could at least explain how you caused it to prove you aren't fiddling with values off-screen or something, and if it was accepted it'd probably spawn a new category just for that glitch since it's such a massive departure from the normal runs.
@@edfreak9001 Exactly right. That exact thing happened to Super Mario World speedruns when a glitch was discovered that could teleport you to the end game credits.

12 hours in and the Waddle Doo realizes he isn't QPU-aligned.
This is actually an excellent example of Hal Laboratory's greatness of yesteryear. So much packed into a SNES cartridge and most of these glitches are just very rare and obscure randomness. I wish games of today were made with this level of care instead of being rushed by publishers to make unrealistic release dates.

Ah Kirby Super Star. The DS Ultra remake was my very first Kirby game, so this is very nostalgic, despite the differences between versions!

Explanation for the Invisible Bomb Glitch:
1. On the topic of why it happens in the first place: It is rather similar to the Swim in Midair Glitch, in that the game thinks that Kirby is still holding a bomb because it exploded underwater before the game even detected Kirby was holding one. Thus, the game expected Kirby to be holding a bomb, and put him in that state.
2. On the topic of running in place: Simple. It's what Kirby normally does when holding a bomb for too long, as it is about to explode. However, Kirby isn't holding one, so it never explodes, and thus, Kirby runs on the spot eternally.

The glitch that happens at 5:23 is caused by you creating a blade knight helper when the screen is transitioning which causes blade knight to be partially loaded in the next scene. The blade knight and wheelie rider are both helpers and since blade knight is still partially loaded, the sprite takes over, if you look closely you can see that the broken sprite for wheelie rider is just a recolored blade knight. Sadly sword knight is only in superstar ultra so you can't create a broken sprite using him, which would be interesting to see.

On my first dynablade play through, I tried to get the maximum tomato at the 1st Level, but the endgame boss got me just before. And I couldn't move. GOD DAMN IT MARX!

The "running on the spot" thing happens because the game thinks Kirby is holding a bomb, and when he holds a bomb for too long it explodes in his hands. Before it explodes in his hands it flashes and Kirby does that, but since there's not bomb to blow up, he just doesn't stop.

For #9, that suplex crash, I have to suspect it's because that kind of enemy ordinarily explodes when it hits the ground after tripping off the ledge side. Grabbing it from that position makes you fall to the ground without a jump, so it thinks it's landed while you're holding it, and I guess the code for one of those exploding clashes with the code for it being killed by a suplex in some way. That's my guess, anyway.
Actually I think I have a possible explanation for the game crashing glitch at 6:51 because in this same area chef Kawasaki spawns in this same room as a boss, so the crash has to be because of him spawning in or something to do with him.

Kirby running on the spot in the invisible bomb glitch is actually his animation for when a bomb is normally about to explode while he's holding it. But since there's no actual bomb, he just runs like that forever 👍

5:20 That's the sword helper sprite, but with the Wheelie palette.. Since you're releasing your Sword copy ability, it makes some sense why the sprite might look like that.

Waddle Doo looked like he kept merging itself with another copy of itself, until it fell out of the sky. It look like he gained more power with each one since a certain part even had him walking in midair, then teleporting to another area to do the same thing before merging.
That Marx glitch would be really useful for speedrunners.

In the Wheelie Rider Glitch, Wheelie uses what appears to be Blade Knight's sprite (but colored red instead of the proper green), for some reason.

I know why the wheelie rider is glitched.
Blade knight was spawned just as the wheelie rider spawned, and since the game doesn't know what to do when two partners are active, giving blade knight the wheelie rider palette.
But that's just a theory.

There's also a less-explained, less-explored glitch on the next screen over. If you manage to get Wheelie to die without dying yourself (it has loads of hidden health), it starts doing the fire sputter that all helpers do when they die. Run away from it, and when it boosts towards you, kill off the helper with the sparkle thingy. After that, die yourself, and you'll find yourself back at the cutscene where you fall on to Wheelie. On the next screen... just start "walking"/sliding. You'll go fast enough to beat the timer without the rolling.

the reason why the game crashes when this happens is because when you pick up the sleep ability kirby lays down and sleeps but when you go to the beginning of the heart of nova the game removes your current abality. BUT the sleeping ability is unable to be gotten rid of. The only way to get rid of sleep is to wait for kirby to wake up. So because the game when you are at the heart of nova cannot get rid of the sleep ability the game crashes. at this time 7:04
I guess the sleep ability has no programation point for that nova stage, so the game Just crashes.
@@IvanFranco120 Another factor could be that abilities in MWW can only be obtained through the Cope Essences Deluxe if you aren't just using Copy. And since Sleep, in that instance, wasn't obtained from an Essence (since there isn't one for that ability) or from the Copy Beam, the game didn't know what to do.

5:30 I think this happens because since you released the ability, but it never officially disappeared, the game thinks that you made a buddy. Since Wheelie is your buddy for the final escape, the Wheelie sprite is replaced with Sword Knight's sprite. But, the game figures out its mistake and fixes it as soon as it notices.
Edit: 6:56 Ironic that suplexing Crash causes the game to crash.

that Marx teleportation glitch has happened to me before! It happened once on the part of Milky Way Wishes, specifically the room that has Mirror. Needless to say, I screamed when it happened

A better strategy for the wheel invincibility is the turn jump. In any of the newer Kirby games, if you just mash left and right then you can do damage while staying basically permanently invincible while being able to move.
I think I know why the Wheelie Rider Sprite glitch happens.Here's why:
That Wheelie is actually a helper,as you can see near his icon.
But,since you released your ability to summon a helper,the Wheelie's sprite gets mixed up with the Blade Knight's(which was supposed to be your helper)
The reason why Kirby crashes on Nova is that Sleep is a temporary ability that makes Kirby sleep, and since you technically still have it, and SHOULDN'T have it, the game doesn't know what to do.
how do Kirby games always manage to look so impressive and beautiful on any hardware? I'm honestly shocked!

The Only Guess I Have To What Happened Is That The Game Suddenly Encountered A Invalid JMP Instruction To The Marx Battle Code, Causing It To Load The Room And Boss, But Does Not Load The Correct Background And Tile Data, And Instead Uses Everything It Finds In The Spots It Normally Finds Those Sprites. I Think At That Point, It Was Using That Levels Tiles Instead Of The Marx Battles. Though, Other Objects Like Those Door Stars Are Not Moved, As They Are Sprites. Leading To Them Appearing In The Battle.

The NOVA Crash most likely happens because the game didn’t anticipate that Kirby could be asleep during this segment so there’s no code to remove the Sleep ability that Kirby still possesses.

The suplex crash glitch seems to be something considering how suplex is handled. When you enter a mini-boss, the game destroys any nearby enemies and projectiles so Kirby isn't sucker-punched mid-fight. Suplex ability grapples an enemy and does an animation before destroying it. It must be saying "Don't destroy this enemy, it's in a cool animation", and when the two parts of the code conflict, it either causes a catastrophic overflow, or an infinite true-false, which of course both crash any device running a script of that manner.

I noticed that Wheelie's sprite is actually Blade Knight's sprite, so what I assume is going on is because you summoned Blade Knight as the transition was starting, the game didn't have time to unload Blade Knight's sprite AND load Wheelie's sprite too.
Once you leave the room the game finally has time to correct itself.
