- This video is about how to run your Lego train or Tram in a limited space or on a shelf.
It will show how to make the train or tram run in a straight line back and forth automatically.
There are 2 methods: one involving just a timer and the other involving a colour sensor.
You will need the Powered Up app, Powered Up motor, and Powered Up Hub.
For the second method you will need the Powered Up sensor.
For those with the Winter Village Tram you will also need track.
The cheapest way of getting the core components and track is to get the Lego passenger train (when it goes on discount at 3rd party retailers…which it usually often does).
I’ve been looking for this for so long😭 thank you!
Thank you so much for this step by step video! I want to put a simple tram line in my city but I haven’t used the LEGO powered up products so this was super helpful!
You’re very welcome. Thank you for the lovely comment 😊
Never would've thought to use just a timer, fantastic!
Hey, i saw your Lego stand today. Must admit it was my favourite one there. Keep up the good work, and i highly suggest you go to essex road 👍
Thank you so much. It was great meeting you
Thanks Andy. I like the way that you build this up slowly and explain it step by step. I've noticed on some forums people asking about how to do this sort of thing, so this should be very useful for people starting out.
Thanks Max. I know I’ve done other videos on powered up but thought I’d make one just for a simple up and down setup for layouts with limited space. I hope people find this handy and thank you for your great comment 😃
@@mocerhead8966 Great. Hope the layout is coming along ok.
@@WelcometoEuphoria I’m expanding the small one a bit to incorporate an underground station. I want to build an office block to stick on top of it and I’ve been watching your videos on your one. Your office block is superb and has given me a lot of inspiration.
I’ve never really done any Lego code as I use Pybricks and BAP for my layout, but this is great mate, thanks. I’ll check out your other vids on programming.
Pybricks is something I want to get to grips with soon. For this kind of use it is perfect. Thank you for the comment
Do u need color infrared sensor for this to work
