The BBC and ITV Drama Departments were superb in the sixties,, seventies and early eighties before Thatcher ad Murdoch attacked their educational and cultural mandate
Have we reached the end of this excellent series will miss Cribb and Thakeray .The lead actors are exactly as imagined in the books .Throughout is has maintained it's classic status and is so fast paced in most episodes it easily holds up to modern adaptions. Thanks for the uploads x
Hi Gordon...I have two more episodes left to upload...had to slow up a pace...the broadband space was needed elsewhere in the household for a few days....also am helping a dear friend to launch his new book...which is an absolutely brilliant read... leetraceybooks.co.uk/ "What Will The Neighbours Say!" ...and so all in all I have been a little side tracked....hope to have a new episode with you next week. Apologies for the wait!!!! :-) X
@@vaudevillefuntimes9753 thank you for your reply! I've just watched the episode about Jumbo the Elephant and it was superb. May I ask if you know if Cribb is available on any type of media such as dvd, disc. etc. I've checked out Britbox and itunes but it appears on neither.
Another fine episode. This like the last an original teleplay not produced as a novel and subsequently able to pace the story more to its 48 minute length .It's been interesting watching those episodes adapted from the actual Sergeant Cribb novels with my partner who hasn't read the books . They really move along at break neck speed to include all the essence of the book ,often with dialogue lifted from the page and the sets are every bit as imagined.Take a look at Mrs Body's boudoir in ABRACADAVER .It really is down to Peter Lovesey and his ability to flesh out characters and give so much detail of place. I would definitely recommend reading the books before seeing the episodes, if possible, and be in awe of how close the stagecraft is to your imaginings. I should add my partner has enjoyed the series immensely as have I .Thanks so much for bringing this forgotten British crime drama to my notice .........I wonder what other treasures you will find in those boxes ;o)x
My pleasure Gordon...thrilled that you and so many other people are being able to enjoy them once more!!! I have no idea what is left to find in my boxes...but I´m still there are one or two surprises left...I am currently trying to make some albums of the bits I am discovering...they are on facebook at...facebook.com/susan.oates.73/photos_albums if you would like to take a peak. They are open to the general public...you don´t have to join up or sign your life away....Enjoy!!!! If you dare!!!!

I have never seen a larger great-coat than the one poor Thackeray has to go about in, imagine that thing in rainy weather! it must be half the man's weight!
This reminds me of that case in the US where the entire town killed the town bully, who was an absolutely disgusting and very horrible man, but no one saw anything.
Justice wasn’t served. On one hand, you have the snobbish father, disapproving of his son’s choice of a wife. On the other hand, the villagers, who sided with the young couple, helped deceive the colonel. When he discovered their scheme and was in the process of changing his will, they caused his death. While the father’s disapproval was harsh, the villagers' actions and the couple's deception ultimately led to an even greater injustice.🤔
So they murdered a man and went scott free with the blessing of the Scotland yard. I understand they wanted this episode to be in the spirit of forgivness, Xmass and all that but all the same....😮
I’m really pleased to find this series; l’d seen a few episodes at its debut, liked them … Now (40 years on) l see what a superb production it is.

I'd say both the Thackeray charactor and actor in real life love the spirits. Lol

William simonds will be missed
That is the first one I didn't enjoy the outcome.

Far more melodical than yours so I've been told!
