No wonder, He had it all: height, looks, personality, intelligence, a ‘clean’/Good-Guy vibe… it’s no wonder that he wasn’t also elected as President! 😉😂😄
Thanks for the upload ChiTown - much appreciated. Barbara Bain before her Mission Impossible gig. Rather an attractive young woman. She eventually married Martin Landau also from M I. Not the best of Phillip Marlowe presentations but for anyone who likes detective movies and TV serials it foots the bill.
Thanks for watching. If you like classic tv shows I hope got a chance to watch the episode of an early 1950's series called Danger written by Rod Serling and starring Paul Newman. th-cam.com/video/hcB2dyscUww/w-d-xo.html
It's interesting to see that the guy who slugged Marlowe (Carey) called Marlowe, "Soldier". Just like Humphrey Bogart was called "Soldier" in Key Largo.
Pretty gosh darn good. Better than the first one l saw. No mention of the excellent Rhys Williams (as Hank) who made his film debut in John Ford's "How Green Was My Valley" (best picture of 1941) ?? The only bone fide Welshman in the film.
Amazing that in such a short episode, the story got so complicated & twisted. My favorite character in here is William Schallert. I especially love his reaction when Marlowe roughly brings in a suspect. "Oh, Phil, I didn't hear you come in." NOT your average cop friend of a P.I.
I love these old shows too. It's hard to get a good story in a 25 min episode, but they did it. Richard Diamond Private Detective was another one that did a great job along with twilight zone of course. I also liked the first season of the Naked City which were half hour as well (1st season only). The Lawless Years was great and the couple episodes of Mike Hammer with Darren McGavin I've seen and M Squad with Lee Marvin. These old actors could really pull you in unlike many actors from today.
A bit better than I expected; it was well, timed and photographed, considering its low budget, the vilan was unexpected. Raymond Chandler was paid for each episode of that series, maybe he had to give his stamp of approval for it. ( There has been a lot of talk about which actor is the "best Marlowe". Chandler thought that Cary Grant would have been his choice for the part. Cary Grant was offered the role of playing the first James Bond, but he turned it down.)
David Jordan was played by James Griffith. I first saw him in the "Thriller" episode, "Parasite Mansion" hosted by Boris Karloff.(1961) 10:25I remember we had a T.V. like that when I was a wee tyke.📺
Virginia Gregg! After hearing her as Helen Asher in Rick Diamond one wanted to see her face.Though sometimes one got a bit annoyed when Rick Diamond was crooning in his nice voice and she interrupts his song with Reekeee, Rickeee, because she wants cuddling.
Barbara Bain, stars here as the other woman....She would later marry Martin Landau and star in the original MISSION IMPOSSIBLE. She managed to lower her voice over the years to a sexy purr. Her agent must have told her...
I love these black and white television series.Thank you so much!😊
I would kill for some of the furnishings and decor from that era!.
What a twist! Love these old movies.
GREAT TV!! Unlike the mess that's served up today. Thanks for sharing this.
I love the classic cars from1930s ~ 1958.
That's a '59 Ford Fairlane 500 Galaxie Skyliner Marlowe drove.
William Schallert had an amazingly long career. He was in dozens of movies and tv series. One could hardly miss him.
Dobie Gills, Patty Duke, etc...
"Them!".
No wonder, He had it all: height, looks, personality, intelligence, a ‘clean’/Good-Guy vibe… it’s no wonder that he wasn’t also elected as President!
😉😂😄
Barbara Bain was on Mike Hammer, Richard Diamond and Philip Marlowe in the same year - 1959.
Great show
Oldies but goodies i was 3 when they were first shown
Thankyou 🎉
The same actor who playing Phillip Marlowe years later would play Cowboy Asa Buchanan on tv soap opera One Life To Live!!!!!
Terrific actor Phillip asa❤ handsome
Thanks!!!
Good movie, thank you.
Excellent.
Great TV show.
Huh. In my hometown i grew up with Philip Carey as "Granny Goose"-Definitely well seasoned.
Also Barbara Bain as a lying floozie. Interesting.
Wish I could find this on dvd

@@ChiTownView hay, thank you !
Actor James Griffith was an unlikely love interest: he just looked like a loser.
Barbara Bain and Martin Landau in "Space 1999".
"Rather"?
thank you for 'upping' these. a real 'blast man'.
Glad you dug them Neil, thanks for watching.
Thanks, ABC, and all the colleagues at Fremantle for keeping the Chandler legacy alive.
It's interesting to see that the guy who slugged Marlowe (Carey) called Marlowe, "Soldier". Just like Humphrey Bogart was called "Soldier" in Key Largo.
I think Philip Marlowe was called 'Soldier' in the early Raymond Chandler stories. Chandler fought in WWI.
I've never seen Barbara Bain when she was this young.
Pretty gosh darn good. Better than the first one l saw. No mention of the excellent Rhys Williams (as Hank) who made his film debut in John Ford's "How Green Was My Valley" (best picture of 1941) ?? The only bone fide Welshman in the film.
Indubidubly 🙂
I tried watching the "Killer" episode on 2 channels, but the visual on both was atrocious!😡
TY for the upload :-)
Thanks for watching Chris.
thank you
Phillip Cary. Asa from One Life To Live
That was his name. Asa.
A young and gorgeous Barbara Bain!

Philip Marlowe was produced by Mark Goodson and Bill Todman, Sr. - whose production house became what is now FremantleMedia.

great, the real thing, authentic athmosphere.

Thanks for watching and your comments Doris.
Since the original Perry Masons arent avail., this is def the next best thing 👍
Pluto TV has the original Perry Mason. free to download. lots of old shows there. Enjoy.
This isn't even close to Mason.
@@michaelfornell4467Right. It's better. I used to like Perry Mason until I found out about Raymond Burr.🌈🤮
A bit better than I expected; it was well, timed and photographed, considering its low budget, the vilan was unexpected.

It's really, really hard to believe Chandler would have wanted Cary Grant, an Englishman from Leeds to play Marlowe, an American from California.
David Jordan was played by James Griffith. I first saw him in the "Thriller" episode, "Parasite Mansion" hosted by Boris Karloff.(1961)

Virginia Gregg AND Barbara Bain in the same episode. What's not to love?
Mrs. Martin Landau.
She is playing the daughter of Paul Howard (actor Addison Richards) here. In real life, she was just 14 years younger than Addison Richards
Thanks,not the usual tosh...!
Barbara Bain, stars here as the other woman....She would later marry Martin Landau and star in the original MISSION IMPOSSIBLE. She managed to lower her voice over the years to a sexy purr. Her agent must have told her...
I'm always curious how is possible successful and rich men's to be manipulated so easily just for a smile, nice body and beautiful women!😂😂😂
It's painfully easy, for the women who have the tools to pull it off.
Film noir tv
Phil should have obtained a receipt!
I've read all the Marlowe stories. Don't recall him having a scar.
A girl tried to slit his throat once
I was wondering about that.
Bain from Space 1999 was a legit HONEY!!!
I wondered where I saw her
@@grahamholton8542Probably "Space 1999".
Phil carey should have been a bigger star !!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Are there any more episodes
Are there any question marks?❔? ❓?
Had potential given time could have been a good series networks don't allow time for most shows to find its groove anymore.
You may not believe this but his name is Granny Goose.
So who was the ugly duckling?
The husband?
4:33 just step on it and keep your hands at "10 and 2"
Barbara Bain!!!
Philip Carey wasn't bad as "Marlowe".
13:50 references to non-ABC series.
Peter Gunn would become one in season 3
What year was this out?
Kayci 1959
1959
He looks like John Forsythe.
Thanks for watching & your comments.
This Marlowe guy looks like Phil Hartman.
Hartman the copy
Troy McClure
The eternally hot Babs Bain AND Patty Duke's TV father!
Say. No. More.
Schalarette was the busiest tv actor ever.
Funny how everyone drove a Ford.
Thanks for watching David.
Ford supplied the cars for promotional purposes, as they did in "The Killers" (1964) that was a film made for t.v..
Produced by Goodson-Todman, who controlled syndicated t.v. game shows in the U.S. and abroad.
@David530 not so funny considering Ford was a sponsor of the show
So why is this called "The Ugly Duckling"?🧐🤔
Barbara Bain is a KNOCKOUT. 😃
She looks like Kim Cattrall.
Better than this garbage that’s out today
Marlowe had a wicket scar under left eye
WICKED
If anybody pulls a gun on you, if you jump real fast, you can always take it away from them......
......but I wouldn't try it if I were you.....
6:31$10,000 in 1959 would be $145,681 as of 23OCT2024.🤑💲
🌽 'y
Barbara Bain could be Aubrey Plaza’s mother…
I didn't know THA THE REAL KILLER WAS >>>>>>>BANG!
Good, but the best Marlowe is Powers Boothe.
Forgot all about him playing Marlo
He played him in the mid-80s sometime didn't he on an HBO TV series the best I recall
Yeah...thank gosh Goodson and Toddman stuck to game shows
